AVOID COLLINGWOOD AT ALL COSTS! Take into consideration all negative reviews and don’t overlook it like I did!!! Before purchasing I called them to double check everything and was mislead over the phone, which made me go for the worse option. I misunderstood the fine prints because they were not clearly written, and are also misleading. Not to mention the spelling mistakes over the emails exchanged. I purchased learner insurance for a set amount of months, passed my driving test before the policy ended and they are refusing to refund the money for the months I will not use the learner insurance (which I have no option but to cancel). I’ve lost £160. They are claiming I never spoke to one of their agents which is a lie. Why would I have bought a policy over others without having spoken to anyone? Do not recommend them in the slightest! Go for reputable insurance companies instead, cheap becomes costly and it’s not worth it! Regardless of policy you go for its clear that you will be at loss!

Learner driver exit fees

Took out insurance in January , no problem £30 a month great stuff. Daughter passed test on Monday and today has been charged £99 early exit fee which apparently is very clear in their policy document on pages 31/32. Never have I ever had such a ridiculous exit fee on insurance never mind a policy you’re unlikely to need for a whole year !! Be warned read the policy documents which I now can’t as her accounts shut because she exited the policy 🙄 Not advertising but Adrian flux was same price and no exit fees for my niece

They will search your licence number prior to renewal and charge a cancellation fee if you have not cancelled

If you do not cancel the policy at the time you pass they will check when it is time to renew and they will cancel the policy anyway and charge you £40 for the privilege. Absolutely shocking! So beware - if you take out a policy you can guarantee you will need to stick at least £40 on top of the quote! Trying to get my £40 back but doubt it'll happen as they have very dubiously written T&Cs - you would never think they could do it but they do

No service for renewing insurance

No service for renewing insurance online, you have to call and the wait time takes forever and you have to wait in a queue. It’s better if they just do it online to save some time for customers like me and saves money for the company as well.

Learner insurance has a weird clause!!

Had leaner insurance for my daughter. Their learner insurance does not allow the parent to drive to their own workplace after dropping the learner at their work place or college. A bizarre policy clause so cancelled and used another provider. Cancelled in 48 hours during cooling off period, and they charged over £60 for 2 days, when the policy for 12 months was only £200!! Avoid this company unless desperate. Plenty more companies out there offering better service for less cost.

Absolute disgraceful insurance company.

Absolute disgraceful insurance company. No courtesy car for private hire drivers who have insurance with them due to damaged car from accident. No communication or customer service. Treated as a number not a human. Did not obtain cctv or bother to investigate the claim of accident at all. Use an approved repairer that cannot obtain parts from MG. 3 months without work and no car. No income. Will be leaving them once car is fixed. Never to return. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Poor experience…not worth the risk

Sorry to say but my son has been trying to sign up for insurance with this company. He is a learner & found them on a companion site. After proceeding to Collingwood’s site he was asked for duplicate details & spent nearly 1 hour filling in information. Then if came to pay and they seem to be incapable of taking payment. Complete waste of time. Heaven knows what it will be like if one ever needs to claim. Also you must cancel the insurance as soon as you pass your test. It is not clear how one is meant to get the car home after the test - that is unclear because it appears the insurance is invalid even if he is accompanied by a qualified driver. We are now going with an insurer that is charging double but easier to do business with and does not require cancellation immediately on passing.
