AVOID COLLINGWOOD AT ALL COSTS! Take into consideration all negative reviews and don’t overlook it like I did!!! Before purchasing I called them to double check everything and was mislead over the phone, which made me go for the worse option. I misunderstood the fine prints because they were not clearly written, and are also misleading. Not to mention the spelling mistakes over the emails exchanged. I purchased learner insurance for a set amount of months, passed my driving test before the policy ended and they are refusing to refund the money for the months I will not use the learner insurance (which I have no option but to cancel). I’ve lost £160. They are claiming I never spoke to one of their agents which is a lie. Why would I have bought a policy over others without having spoken to anyone? Do not recommend them in the slightest! Go for reputable insurance companies instead, cheap becomes costly and it’s not worth it! Regardless of policy you go for its clear that you will be at loss!

Experience was great. All information which i get was clearly. I am very happy.
Absolute rip off company. As others have stated, they charge you once you pass. They then go back to hidden terms and conditions. They do not make it clear that for the vast majority of learners who pass in the cover period they will have to pay £40 cancellation charge. Everyone should raise a formal complaint and then raise one with the Financial Ombudsman Service when they refuse to uphold your complaint (which will be the outcome. Going to the Financial Ombudsman Service is the only way they will take notice and maybe change their underhand process.
Car insurance you’re after? how about hidden fees and debt collectors for passing your driving test, well that’s Collingwoods specialty. With this insurance provider, don’t expect to receive any form of documentation or information about your policy unless you want to pay an additional £35, instead it’s stored within an unsecured website requiring little verification to access, with no information being sent directly to the policy holder.
Policy set up in no time, a great experience, helpful staff, especially Sarah, a great experience overall.
Couldn’t be more happy with the service!
As per many of the comments, we were also charged the stealth £40 cancellation charge. We had forgotten about the policy once my daughter had passed her test. We then went to cancel it 2.5 months after passing and they said that as it is the 8 month of the policy you will be charged 90% of the fee and £40 cancelation, this making it we owed them even more money, circa £22 more! I asked what would happen if we just left it run its course and we were told that they check to see if the driver has passed then contact you to cancel to charge the £40, however they never contacted us in 2.5 months. Either way I would avoid using Collingwood Insurance Services. Seems like the policy is cheap but you get charged for cancelling, and don't get any money back which for young drivers could be used on the car!
