Sandra our tutor for year 2 has been so supportive and helpful and brings passion and knowledge in abundance. She shares so much and her feedback is thorough and thoughtful and so helpful. She's been amazing and I'm excited to continue the second half of the year and progress onto year three. Thank you so much to the staff behind the scenes and placements team too for always being ready to answer queries and help where they can.

I have been with chrysalis for 2.5 yrs, my 1st year was enjoyable, with a great tutor, my 2nd year not so much, however, on year 3 1st session in January, my current tutor gave me structure, with slideshows & video clips to explain in more depth and giving examples of the different topics, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 modules as I am a visual learner, the guidance given is great by Sarah Jones and she is a real fit for our group, I am looking forward to the rest of my final year with Chrysalis
I have had a great experience training with Chrysalis. The pluralistic content of the course has been very interesting and I believe has put me in good stead for my future as a counsellor. Most beneficial to my experience though is my tutor, Martina. Martina is incredibly knowledgeable, always puts us at ease, fills us with confidence and gives valuable feedback.

I have enjoyed the process of registration on the course as well as the administration. I had to change from the Autumn to Spring course and found it a very smooth and easy process. I am also enjoying the in person sessions thus far. The cohort is very friendly and are all eager to learn. My supervisor Cila is a great teacher and very knowledgeable about the subjects and about the course in general. I have also found the Moodle page and it's resources useful and informative. I think they layout and design could be improved somewhat to make it feel smoother when clicking on the windows and being on the page. But the content I have found good so far. I think it's a good course and I'm enjoying the learning experience. I see myself being a practising and efficient counselor by the end of this course and look forward to having made many contacts and friends along the way.

I cannot emphasise enough how poorly this course has been put together. I wanted to do the counselling course but was made to do the hypnotherapy course at Level 3. When asked why I had to do this they said to lead me into the Level 4 counselling course. I believe the fact that I am educated to Level 7 in a similar field that allows me to be part of the British Psychological Society, I do not believe I should have been made to do this level three course as I more than well equipped to start the Level 4 course. This should be assessed individually and not forced to do it when already educated to a certain level, it's just another money making scheme by Chrysalis. In order to really become educated by them they want you to pay lots of extra money for their CPD courses which are about £200 a go, about things you thought would be taught within the course that you have signed up for, For example, Smoking cessation this is one of the main things you could make money out of a s a hypnotherapist whilst training to become a counsellor. Nothing was done on this with the help of the tutor. We had to meet once a month on a Sunday, which turned out to be entirely pointless. You left with the same knowledge you what you went in with it was just wasted time. Yet it could have been used more productively to maybe explore this smoking cessation and how to do it and provide more details, but no apparently there was not enough time! There was plenty of time- pick anyone of these Sundays where we did nothing. But instead Chrysalis want you to pay extra for this to do their CPD at £200 a time!! However during these Sundays the course wanted you to spend time on areas we are not allowed to even attempt as unqualified and trainees and not to be able to go forward with even after the course is completed- How does this make any sense?!!! spend the time on things we can and are allowed to do! The course on Moodle is so poorly set out and everyone in my group found it confusing- they had different names and things like, components/modules and then a random unit 6 which was not placed in the order of the other components of when it needed to be done and turns out to be a quite and extensive piece of work which was not in anyway supported or delved into in a productive way by the tutor. Many of the people on my course had not engaged in any form of education since school and so more guidance was required which was not provided. For example, there is a 3000 word essay which was needed to be completed and with Harvard refencing there was no breaking down of how to approach this and this was overwhelming for those in the class that had only done their GCSE's and were stepping foot back into education. Although Harvard referencing was mentioned it was never taught. I was familiar with it due to my education and so I spent hours with my group explaining this and how to approach a 3000 word essay so that it was achievable and not overwhelming. My group would call the tutor and two occasions the response was' you have Marie in your group she knows what she is doing!' I am happy to help my people in my group but I did spend hours doing this as it was just not made clear for them, so maybe Chrysalis should be paying me! This was the same with the case studies and how this needed to be put together. I ended up spending four hours looking through my groups work to check they had everything they needed and that they were on the right lines as it just wasn't made clear to them by the course or the tutor. Personally for me I learnt nothing from the tutor I just read the titles of what I had to do and complete and read a book around the topic and completed the work. I then shared my knowledge of what needed to be done with my group so they knew how to complete it. The Sunday meetings and online sessions were completely pointless- I learnt nothing- nothing was taught we were just talked at. I do not fully blame the tutor as they have hired Hypnotherapist to teach and these are two completely different professions. She was a great hypnotherapist I am sure but that does not make you a good teacher and I do not believe that Chrysalis provided the right support to the tutor in how to deliver a productive, inclusive and engaging session that builds on skills. All that happened was we were talked at about, well, nothing !!The most interesting part was watching her do hypnotherapy once so that was an hour out of 7hrs a session once a month which was relatively useful! I was paying to sit in a room bored out of my mind. Others in the group they felt the same. I have formally complained and no longer want to do the counselling purely because of how bad this course is but they are going to make me pay for the next two years if I pull out, which I do not think is right when the one and only reason I do not want to continue is because of how dire it is and I am not getting what I am paying for, a decent course.

My Tutor Nick made the whole process enjoyable, he was friendly, accepting and always available should we have any questions on understanding our modules, his presence and tutoring motivated me to do the best that I could and achieve the level of standards that I was after. I have now moved on to Level 4, hoping that I will achieve the same standards as Level 3.

I commenced my counselling (pluralistic) journey in November 2020 with Chrysalis and have to say I have enjoyed it immensely. I have been impressed with the way the course is laid out (trusting the process). My two tutors Rosaleen in first year and Mer, year 2 and 3, have been very down to earth, supportive and extremely knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the classes and supportive peers/study buddies. The student support have always got back to me in a timely manner and have been really helpful with any of my queries. I have loved my placement and have learnt so much from my supervisor/other counsellors and of course, my clients! Although it has been a lot of hard work fitting it all in with a full time job and family, the support and advice I have received collectively, has been amazing. I would definitely recommend Chrysalis to anyone who has a passion for counselling.

Okay, so I have a new tutor on my hypnotherapy course, Faye is amazing, she is extremely positive and her feedback is amazing. Chrysalis is also very fortunate to have Malaurie too! She has been incredible, helping me along the way. She is so efficient and it must be difficult for her at times coping withvus students! I like many others are indebted to her for answering endless questions. She even very kindly allowed me to send me module to be uploaded when I had difficulties twice!!! The student support services, particularly Katie, have been beyond helpful to me in the last 3 years, but even more so since 2023, when I needed additional advice. Katie was efficient, gave me all that I needed, and helped me feel at ease.

The course was delivered by a fantastic tutor who made it all so easy to follow and enjoyable, engaging everyone. The study group where amazing to work with and you form professional and personal relationships which can only benefit your career moving forwards.
