Review summary
Chrysalis courses receives consistently positive reviews. Customers particularly appreciate professional and service, though some mention concerns about communication and expensive.
Sandra our tutor for year 2 has been so supportive and helpful and brings passion and knowledge in abundance. She shares so much and her feedback is thorough and thoughtful and so helpful. She's been amazing and I'm excited to continue the second half of the year and progress onto year three. Thank you so much to the staff behind the scenes and placements team too for always being ready to answer queries and help where they can.
I have been with chrysalis for 2.5 yrs, my 1st year was enjoyable, with a great tutor, my 2nd year not so much, however, on year 3 1st session in January, my current tutor gave me structure, with slideshows & video clips to explain in more depth and giving examples of the different topics, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 modules as I am a visual learner, the guidance given is great by Sarah Jones and she is a real fit for our group, I am looking forward to the rest of my final year with Chrysalis
I have had a great experience training with Chrysalis. The pluralistic content of the course has been very interesting and I believe has put me in good stead for my future as a counsellor. Most beneficial to my experience though is my tutor, Martina. Martina is incredibly knowledgeable, always puts us at ease, fills us with confidence and gives valuable feedback.
A good solid course with excellent content and really good student support.
I recently completed the level 5 professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling practice . I had a double bereavement in the last 3 months, but thanks to really excellent support from the student support team, particularly Tania, I was able to finish my course, just a little late.
I found the course content to be excellent. My tutor in my final year, Alma was also very good and really diligent.
I found the new inclusion of online modules to be a poor substitute for in-class tutoring. It made working in triads almost impossible.
My overall experience with Chrysalis has been positive. I completed three years and may well go on to do a level 6 research qualification. I am a confident hypnotherapist and a good counsellor. I feel that I have the foundation in place for a new career and that all of my hard work has paid off.
Poor ethics from a company that teaches modules in ethics. I completed my hypnotherapy course in 2022 and am STILL waiting for my certificate. A total money scam being run between Chrysalis and The Hypnotherapy Society whereby you have to pay for ANOTHER years membership in addition to the one you JUST PAID (even though you only wanted to do the one year course) in order to get your certificate. Ludicrous. I canβt think of another organisation that would withhold a certificate after completing all modules, attending the correct amount of lectures and never missing a payment. Absolute cowboys. Have since switched to another provider - so much better. Be warned!
Iβve been studying a hypnotherapy and counselling skills with Chrysalis and have had to have some extensions due to some changes in my personal circumstances. Iβve been going through a tough time and the support team have always been understanding, empathetic and kind. I am finally submitting my last outstanding pieces of work this week. I was worried that I would never get it all finished, but I am incredibly grateful to the support team for granting my extension requests and allowing me to continue this course through to completion.
My tutor & classmates are extremely friendly & likeminded people to myself & everyone has developed good supportive relationships
My tutor is extremely knowledgeable in his field & extremely approachable
Poor experience. Only reason I stayed was because I'd paid upfront.
Forced blended learning of no benefit to anyone and quite stressful for a lot of us on the course.
Skills practice redundant, learned far more on placement.
Assignments unclear and not enough support to help us write them.
Didn't even have a tutor when the Third year started.
Bullying me to pay a prince's trust fee that I didn't even have to pay as I signed up before the change over.
Over all, do not use this company for counselling training. I've even been told by other counsellors of their poor reputation.
In response to reply;
The Dean of studies spent most of the day talking about himself and we didn't learn anything from him.
The Princes Trust stuff is absolutely redundant, no one cares about it so why would I pay for something that is of no use to me.
Sarah, our tutor, has done the best she can and I can't fault her but as she's brand new to the company, I don't feel she's been able to offer us what we needed from the get go. We should have been given a more experienced tutor in our third year.
We've lost colleagues on the course because of your atrocious attitude towards them when it came to fees etc.
Honestly, one of the worst courses I've been on. Awful.
Unfortunately, Chrysalis as an organisation has been really disappointing. My teacher is wonderful and the course content is good but I would never recommend this organisation to anyone. When people ask me who I'm studying with, I cringe and feel embarrassed.
The staff seem to only be concerned with money and making profits. Our course was advertised as face to face and that randomly changed half way through the year - I appreciate the contract states that Chrysalis are entitled to do this but the way it was handled was poor and our feelings were not taken into consideration.
It takes WEEKS before anyone responds to you.
You call and no one answers for days and days. If you are lucky enough to get through, you're met with such attitude and defensiveness. No one ever knows how to respond. No one ever has the answers ... unless you're asking about how to make a payment ... then someone knows, of course.
If I could go back and change who I studied with, I absolutely would.
There is a lack of duty of care and it's been pretty miserable to say the least.
The marking of the SSP's was a disaster. I waited for the marker to reply to my comments for around 5 months. During that time, I had no help from Chrysalis staff.
I am a student, paying good money - please improve for future students.
I left a different course because the content was not as i expected, the course content with chrysalis is interesting and the pluralistic approach is what i wanted to study. The tutors are amazing and supportive. I've always recieved good support from the student support staff.
I am a little disappointed that it wasn't pointed out to me on the start, that we wouldn't achieve enough classroom hours to be able to go for accreditation and will have to pay again for a chrysalis l5, which from what I gather are only in 1 location, no where near me! I am now unsure of what to do next to achieve accreditation.
From student support, I feel like they could lack in communication and helping students feel at ease with situations. Although towards the end of my course communication got better, hearing from chrysalis fairly straight away. whereas my actual tutor was amazing and so helpful. He was experienced and passed on his knowledge. He was always available to help and emailed straight back. His communication was great and he would keep us on track with our studies.
