I have had an outstanding complaint unresloved since November 2024

I have had an outstanding complaint since November 2024. In the 1 year 1 was issued with two very large bills over 1k each time (I live in a 1 bed apartment and work in the office for reference) so this just did not make sense to me. The issue is still on going, that bill was suppose to be frozen until the issue was resolved but as of last week I am now down 1k as the amount was taken from my bank. I have found it very difficult or at all possible to get updates on this situation from the complaint team. the Customer service operators have tired their best to help but as there is no direct contact to the complaint team this issue is just causing unnecessary stress and anxiety.

I am really happy with the level of customer service Bord Gais provides. Also, the Electricity and Gas rates are good!

Do not care about customers

Called several times, cut off three times spent over an hour on hold to be told to email them. Then received email back saying they will do their best to get back to me within 5 working days. Absolutely terrible experience, avoid avoid avoid

Worst company

I changed from Energia to Board Gais, because I was looking for a cheaper energy company, turns out it's as expensive as Energia and the customer service of Board Gais is horrible. The guy who set up my account made a typo in my email, I had to call Board Gais to fix it and waited 30 minutes to receive an answer. There's no chat option in their website, their app it's awful, they don't send you a reminder to submit your meter reading. Also in the call I found out that I had a bill opened and had no idea, as my email was wrong. I had Eletric Ireland before and Energia, Board Gais is so bad, I regret so much changing companies.

Liars and cheats

Conned me into signing up with them and then raised prices by 30% a few weeks later. Refused to let me out of the contract unless I paid them €50. Holding customers hostage and rinsing them for every last penny they can is a terrible look. They even had the cheek to send an e-mail claiming the credit for the Government's €200 electricity payment.

as new customer I wish I had read the…

As a new customer I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. After a few calls and pressing on the options on the phone I am told my call won't be taken. On a few occasions I tried to create online account but it tells me the account number is not recognised and cuts me off. Impossible to talk to someone. The automated call said I could give a meter reading but then no option available. Even if I have to pay more next year im out of here.

Cheap and on time boiler service

Booked a boiler maintenance service and they came the next day to do it. It did not take long and it was advised to do it yearly. I think the price was fair so will book it again when the time comes. The technician was lovely and on time! 100% recommended.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. My bills have been estimated for a year. Have sent them on numerous occasions and still not changed. Estimated bill is 10000 units higher than my actual bill and no one wants to fix this. Made me send pictures with a newspaper with the date like i was lying. This country is an embarrassment when it comes to customer service.

The Conversion Factor Bord Gais uses

We usually check the prices and discounts companies offer when we sign up with the providers for home electricity and Gas. We do not check the conversion factor the companies use to calculate the number of units in your bill. You only see that when you get your first bill. I have recently moved from Energia to Bord Gais. I got my first gas bill from Bord Gais, I was surprised to see that Bord Gais uses a higher conversion factor for calculating the Gas units i.e. 1.458 (which is higher than the conversion factor Energia use). This means for the same amount of usage, Bord Gas sends customers a higher bill showing more units consumed, compared to Energia. I am comparing Bord Gais with Energia because I did not try other providers so far. So I contacted Bord Gais about this they replied, "this is the conversion factor we use. We don’t care what conversion factor other companies use." So guys stay away from Bord Gas. They charge more to the consumers by using a higher conversion factor in their bills.

Should have a freephone customer service number

None of the energy regulators seem great in Ireland but these seem to be the better of the lot. Although in saying that I was on the phone line today for an hour long waiting and then the call suddenly dropped! Not impressed that they do not have a free phone number for customers - that should be mandatory for any energy providers! But in fairness when I have spoken to people in the company they have given me accurate information.

Absolutely criminal behaviour from Bord…

Absolutely criminal behaviour from Bord Gais! Since the 30 December my son has been queuing his outrageous bills. He turned off the main fuse in his apartment and the meter is still running. He has consistently asked them to get the ESB to check if his meter is working correctly. This request has never been fulfilled and the ESB have received no request from them. Bord Gais do not seem to be capable of making this request to the ESB or they are purposely not doing so in the hope that they can take 700 euro from my son each billing period. its outrageous.
