Review summary
Bitdefender has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
I am having great difficulty trying to cancel auto-renewal of a Premium VPN subscription with Bitdefender.
Bitdefender want to renew at 100% rate when online they are advertising a 50% discount!!!
Their "Contact Us" link constantly times out.
What to do?
Had them for 5 years. The best protection, I have never had any PC issue and im online all the time. BUTTT last year, a staff use my debit card to purchase $400 of sport betting. Thank GOD my bank USAA blocked them for suspicious activity
I wont be using them anymore since they are now $80 a year and the staff are thieves and NORTON 360 has a promotion for 15usd a year... yeah no brainer
I have been an customer for 7 years, very disapointed
I have been an customer for 7 years, part of this unknowingly because they set your account to auto renew. When I contacted them about me paying a lot more than first time customers they apologized and stated they want to do something about it. When I ask them to actually do something about it they over me a deal that is more expensive than some other deal I find online for the same product, and when I ask for a better solution they suddenly change direction and start blaming me for being a loyal customer that does not actively disable renewal and spends hours hunting deals every year.
Seeing as they did not make this right I decided not to spent any more money on a company with this crappy a business practice and with such crappy customer service.
Difficult all around. Purchase, renewal, installation, setup, and daily use are confusing and waste time. If I could still use Kaspersky, I would.
Update: On every purchase, upgrade, renewal and installation I've needed to contact customer support and get them to fix something.
This is definitely NOT user friendly for this client. The constant ads and push to use another of their products just makes it so much more difficult to navigate through the process.
Enough with the marketing! There is a point when it becomes obstructive, invasive and for this client a reason to switch to another product. I recently renewed because I didn't have time to research and install something new. I discovered that installing a new product would likely have been faster and easier.
They need to add ransomware check on drivers since much spyware gather information acting as a driver or through infecting a driver. These then continue spying unnoticed by the bitdefender program.
I have trusted Bitdefender as my total personal computer security solution for several years. I recently had to contact Customer Service for the first time. I was shocked by how friendly, knowledgeable, and fast my agent solved my issue. Bitdefender not only offers an outstanding solution, they elevated my confidence in their company with my Customer Support experience. Good job, Bitdefender!
More hassle than it's worth for free, let alone for money
I have had bitdefender installed for months, because as far as I can tell it is one of the best anti-malware programs out there (as you'll see this is a low bar). In the time I have had it installed admittedly I have not once tried to install or run malware so I cannot speak personally to its effectiveness at preventing it, from what I've seen it's a good coin flip, however it believes I have run malware on at least 10 separate occasions, some of which being my own scripts, some of which being any random cache it can find on my system. The rate of false positives has made it a frequent inconvenience to deal with the program and it is anything but effortless to get things back to normal after a false detection. Maybe if it had saved me from an infostealer or ransomware it would be worth the time I've spent babysitting it, but I find it hard to figure out who this is designed for when users who understand how malware works will seldom need it, and users who don't will be forced to trust it when it deletes something they were using. I cannot recommend it to be installed on a computer you actively use for more than basic and or business related activities.
After using this for 2 years, I now find this program is trolling my computer, identifying harmless files as INFECTED, and deleting them without asking me first. When I try to restore the files from quarantine, I can no longer move them, rename them, or otherwise work with them. Attempts to send the identified files to the eMail address listed in their reply to my previous review are bounced with the error message: "The following recipient(s) cannot be reached". IMHO this bitdefender is as BAD as the viruses they claim to protect from. You Have Been Warned.
