Terrible vehicles

Don't let them give you a silver Opel Astra at Warsaw Airport!! The actual pickup etc went very smoothly. However, when driving out of the car park I noticed the orange engine management light was on. I stopped and told the young lady who handed me the car. She said to ignore the light as it is a factory fault and the car was fine to drive. 10 minutes into the journey I was having real problems getting the car into gear and the clutch was very "sticky". I decided that I would drop my wife and 2 young daughters off at the hotel then go back to swap the car as it really wasn't performing. However, I got to traffic lights, I was in the middle of 3 lanes of traffic. The car began to shake violently. The car would not go into gear and then completely cut out. I tried the engine 3 or 4 times but when it did start I could not force it into gear. Having 2 young kids in the car they became quite scared as we were sitting ducks. We called the emergency number, got out the car and removed all our luggage and waited for help. It took almost 2 hours for the replacement car to arrive with lots of apologies. I have since sent them an email to say how upsetting the whole experience was. However, the reply didn't even contain an apology. They actually told me that there was nothing wrong with the car and they hired it out to another customer. Can you believe that??? I hope the next customer isn't in the fast lane of the motorway when it breaksdown again, they might not be so lucky!! They're playing with lives!!

Nur mit zusätzlicher Versicherung

Das Fahrzeug wurde im April über die Fluggesellschaft gebucht und mit der Kreditkarte bezahlt. Vor Ort mussten wir die Kaution hinterlegen und die Kreditkarte war nur 5 statt wie im Kleingedruckten auf der Seite 3 hingewiesen 6 Monate gültig. Alle anderen Möglichkeiten wurden abgelehnt und uns wurden 560.- Euro für eine Zusatzversicherung aufgezwungen. Nie wurde darauf hingewiesen was eher Täuschung und Geschäftsmodell ist. Man muss auch vor Ort nochmals ein Papier ausfüllen, dieses dient eher für die Provisionbeweis der abgezockten Touristen. Auf dem Zusatzvertrag der Versicherung war bereits alles vorausgefüllt, sie wussten schon das es hier was zu holen gab. Ganz miese masche von der Swiss unterstützten Carunion

Auto Union Greece (Preveza Airport)- would definitely use again. We were told to expect someone waiting with a sign on arrival - we couldn't find him for 10 mins which sent alarm bells ringing, however on calling the office they said to walk across the road and minibus would be waiting for us, which it was. This was the only negative experience we had. The transfer to their office is 1 min away. Our car was ready and waiting , we checked over and completed paperwork and all was fine. Drop off was quick and easy. They had minibus waiting to transfer us back.

Slechtste auto verhuur ooit. Huur hier nooit een auto. De autoverhuur is slecht vindbaar. Bij aankomst hebben we een uur moeten wachten omdat de capaciteit niet op het aantal huurders berekend was. De auto die we meekregen maakte een absurd klapperend geluid dat vanuit de motorruimte kwam. AutoUnion was niet bereid naar ons toe te komen om het probleem op te lossen. In plaats daarvan hebben we een halve dag opgeofferd om terug te gaan naar autoUnion. Het mankement aan het voertuig is goed te verklaren. De verhuurder maakte een testrit waarbij hij de auto zo belachelijk ruig bestuurde dat geen auto het langer dan een jaar zou overleven. Bij het afleveren van de auto was de verhuurder zeer agressief en onbeleefd. Omdat er wat vervuiling door bezoek aan lokale stranden in de auto lag nam hij €50 euro van de borg in beslag. Aan de manier waarop dit kenbaar gemaakt werd blijkt dat dit spelletje vaker gespeeld wordt en dat ze op deze manier extra inkomsten proberen te genereren.

Disappointing Service and Vehicle Experience The service at AutoUnion left much to be desired. The staff were unwelcoming, with no smile or warmth, which set a negative tone for the start of our holiday. I did not receive the vehicle I had booked. The vague promise of “or similar” resulted in a minibus that felt more like a utility van with civilian seats bolted in—far from what I had expected. To add to the frustration, the fuel gauge showed only a quarter tank, despite the rental agreement specifying a half tank. Since when did a half tank become the standard, or am I missing something? I voiced my concerns, but the team showed no willingness to acknowledge the issue or offer any resolution. Their dismissive attitude made it clear that customer satisfaction wasn’t a priority. In the end, my family tried to make light of the situation by jokingly naming the vehicle “the love van,” but it was, unfortunately, a disappointing experience overall.

Zeer goede ervaring met Autounion in Kreta. Kantoor vlakbij aankomsthal van de luchthaven Heraklion. Auto stond klaar. Mooie propere wagen met slechts 28000 km. Papierwerk was snel geregeld. Personeel was zeer vriendelijk.

Auto union is an excellent choice for car rental

The employee Lukas at Bratislava airport is excellent! He helped us a lot with everything we asked him for. Even though the plane was delayed, he waited for us and served us with kindness and patience. He even offered to get us the vignette to travel to Austria, because we didn't know. Finally, on an issue that arose, he helped us a lot.The customer service of Auto union via email is excellent, as is the car we rented. I highly recommend choosing the specific company, especially the office at Bratislava Airport.

Don’t ever rent a car from AutoUnion

I had an extremely disappointing experience with AutoUnion Car Rental during my trip to Bulgaria in December 2024. The vehicle provided suffered a technical battery fault, leaving us stranded. Despite AutoUnion’s policy stating that roadside assistance for technical issues is included, their local representative refused to help, forcing me to pay out of pocket for third-party towing. To make matters worse, AutoUnion has since refused to reimburse these emergency expenses and has not returned my deposit, which has been overdue for several months. Multiple attempts to contact them have been ignored, and they have refused to escalate or resolve the matter. This lack of accountability and customer support is unacceptable. I’ve now escalated this case to the European Consumer Centre. I strongly advise others to be cautious when considering this company.

Leide en bil i Italia

Leide en bil gjennom carcrawler på Bergamo Airport. Det ble Autounion som hadde beste tilbudet. Når vi kom så var alt greit helt til de sa at de krevde internasjonalt førerkort fordi vi var utenfor EU. Var visst en spesiell regel dette firmaet hadde i Italia. Når vi hevdet at vi jo var en del av EU gjennom EEC og dessuten aldri gjennom mer enn 30 år hadde opplevd dette i Europa så var de ikke interessert i å høre på oss. Vi prøvde å kansellere bilen men det ville kostet oss dyrt. De krevde da, siden vi ikke hadde internasjonalt førerkort, 100 euro pr. døgn ekstra som vi ikke ville få refundert. Dette stod ingen steder i dokumentet vi hadde fått. Måtte inn på nettsida deres for å finne ut dette. Helt horribel praksis og bare et opplegg for å tyne mest mulig ut av kundene. Hold dere unna dette firmaet, i hvert fall hvis dere reiser til Italia.

Mietwagen in Suceava/Rumänien

Haben über sunnycars einen Mietwagen (Vollkasko) in Suceava/Rumänien gebucht. Wurden von autounion am Flughafen abgeholt. 10 Minuten später hatten wir unser Auto. Unkomplizierte Übergabe.( Hatten vorher online bei sunnycars eingecheckt. Kann man nur empfehlen). Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter vor Ort. Abgabe ebenso problemlos. Eine Empfehlung für autounion.

Booking cancelled with no warning

Arrived at Poznan airport to find the desk closed. We rang to find out where the car was, to be told the booking had been cancelled and we would receive a refund. We had no email/phonecall to say this had been cancelled (still have had no email 5 days later) Disgusting attitude to have to a customer who has spent a day travelling. We then managed to eventually hire another car through another company who advised us Auto Union do this all the time to customers. Delayed our holiday by a few hours. Avoid !!

Finger weg

Finger weg! Meine Kreditkarte funktioniert angeblich nicht.Vor unserem Urlaub und nach unserem Urlaub funktioniert sie perfekt! Die Kreditkarte meiner Frau wurde nicht akzeptiert, da der Vertrag auf meinen Namen lautet. Meine Frau war jedoch auch als Fahrerin eingetragen. Man hat uns quasi gezwungen einen neuen Vertrag abzuschließen. Um vor Ort ein Auto zu haben, blieb uns nichts anderes übrig. Merkwürdig war, da konnte meine Frau plötzlich mit ihrer Kreditkarte bezahlen, obwohl ich wieder Hauptfahrer war. Das hat uns 325€ gekostet! Wisecars teilte uns nach mehreren Mails mit, das wir ja angeblich freiwillig nur eine Zusatzversicherung abgeschlossen hätten. Ein Witz und eine Erfahrung, die man nicht unbedingt machen möchte.
