We used the company in the past with another organization. I decided to contract with them because of their expertise and knowledge. They are also very friendly and assist you when needed. Everyone I have encountered with are very friendly and knowledgably.
I would like the ratings to better align with the ACTFL proficiency guidelines. This would allow us to use more of your test data to assess whether students are eligible for Credit by Exam.
I also wish there were more time slots available immediately after school, so students wouldn't have to wait 1.5 to 2 hours to take the speaking portion of their test.
I liked the live call-in option of speaking that was available. I also liked the quick turn around of scoring. The help desk was also knowledgeable.
I disliked the way the default keyboard worked or did not at times. Due to the times test, my Danish student was not able to get all her keyboard corrections made. She knew it was going to cause her to have a lower score, and it did. I had to have an IT involved to help the keyboard strokes to hold. Also, my state needs the grade level on the report.
Customer support does not answer phone calls and email issues are not responded to until the next day, and when in the system needing help does no good. Applicants reported inappropriate questions and when asked about them, ALTA placed the blame back on the them without checking. We pulled all remaining tests and now must find another company to retest and verify the validity of their results since we do not trust what we received.
Frustrating!
I was told by my employer I did not pass my bilingual test (Vietnamese) even though I was born and raised in Vietnam and also was a previous interpreter at hospital & clinic. This company is a waste of time... wow!
Test was extremely fast paced and recording was also a fast talker with different dialect. I just don't think it's fair.
I don't think the translator translated 100% of what the geneticist said. Firstly, there were some things I understood that he didn't translate, Secondly the geneticist spoke Chinese (I didn't know that the geneticist spoke Chinese before the meeting, and no one told me that), and at one point in the middle of the appointment she even explained it to me in Chinese herself
