Unacceptable Billing Errors by Tomato Energy

I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

Promising but admin falls way short

Switch over was fine but never received contract documents. Promised them but had to keep chasing. Finally someone did them on the phone to me but once I checked when off phone, they have put in part of someone else’s address! I have emailed to ask to change it but no response after two weeks! Great prospects for this company but the finer details like GDPR issues need to be resolved and contracts sent out. It will bite them if the administrative infrastructure is failing.

Why no bills? Whow - I've got one now!

I have been a Tomato Energy customer since 4.11.24 but I still have not received a bill. Their terms and conditions say customers are billed monthly. Since I originally posted this review Tomato Energy have contacted me via Trustpilot asking for my account details which I gave them, however they have not been back in touch, so I'm still none the wiser as to when I might receive a bill. Today 21st January I have received a bill!

New suppler and cheaper.

Decided to give them a try as they were the cheapest for me. AJ the sales guy seemed excited I was switching. I’m hoping it all goes well as they are a new supplier, but I always go for the little guys and leave the big six alone. AJ could do with a bit of microphone training as he had to repeat a lot because of muffled sound… but we got there.

I'm being charged twice

I'm being charged twice for two different MPANs: 2700007735260 2700010610837 One is an export meter for solar. Customer services do not answer their emails. I'm literally being charged double, just because my property has 2 meters.

Had a call with Riley, he was very professional and explained all the different tariffs extremely well. I have now switched to Tomato Energy so let's see if the savings come through in the next few months. Thanks Riley. Great service

Great service - SMETS2 meter

SMETS2 meter here, Lifestyle battery tarrif. My IHD works fine, switch went smooth, I can see almost live data in MyWatts, two accurate bills so far received and money taken by variable direct debit. Never contacted customer services as there was never a need. All works just fine.

Switched to Tomato

Switched to Tomato a week ago due to their great lifestyle tariff, and we have already been saving money! Switch went through with no issues, received a call a few days after joining to walk me through the process and ask if I had experienced any issues. I have also been able to track my usage whilst they set up my MyWatts account through the Bright app with no problems. I'd recommend tomato to anyone looking to cut down on energy bills.
