Unacceptable Billing Errors by Tomato Energy

I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

Very good experience

I've been with Tomato since late 2024 and the service, from the switch, to the billing has been spot on. I had one small issue with the direct debit but this was dealt with by Sonu over the phone in minutes. I highly recommend them.

Spoke to Pargat who was a complete Gentleman and very helpful regarding setting up my Direct Debit with Tomato Energy (who in my opinion are the best priced electricity company in the UK) if you want to save a significantly amount of money and deal with a great Customer Service team, then I can't recommend them enough. Keep doing what you are doing Tomato Energy!

Tomato Energy is not for everyone but for me it’s great

Tomato Energy is not for everyone - you must have a well working SMETS 2 meter or you will have issues with billing. Even with well working meter I had issues with my usage not appearing on MyWatts page twice BUT with a short call to support each time, it has been fixed within days with all missing data being backfilled and bills generated each month. While it does take some care to monitor your usage to ensure data is flowing OK, the prices are really great and for me personally it is fine and I can deal with occasional hassle if required. So I would recommend it for anyone with SMETS 2, in a good reception area, especially if you have EV or battery and do monitor your usage anyways as this may not be a fully “hands off” experience (at least not yet)

Ofgem investigating

Be warned energy customers, Tomato Energy are about to go bust! ofgem opens investigations into liquidity and blocks them from taking on new customers! Writing is on the wall, no wonder nobody from Tomato Energy ever gets back to me they've probably all been made redundant
