Review summary
Talk Home Mobile has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.
Their new notification policy is a nightmare. I've been with them over a year. Suddenly when they take payment they text notifications overnight eg almost 1am or 7am when everyone is sleeping. Most people keep their phones open overnight eg for emergencies. Nothing gives them the right to wake us up.
Email confirmations. Don't text!! I told them last month they had woken me up. I was fuming. They assured me they would turn off notifications. They did not. This month they texted me at 12.40AM!! This is highly unethical and violates UK noise pollution laws.
Businesses cannot contact consumers outside reasonable business hours. This means 8am to 11pm.
I wish to profusely thank Talk Home staffer Mr Adam who provied excellent support through 'Chat' function on 5 July 2025. This Chat I tried after repeated failing to get anyone, even worse disconnection while trying to speak with Talk Home Mobile team. so their phone does not work but luckily chat worked and more luckily Mr Adam was fantastic. Thank you dear Adam
Not impressed so far , sim took nearly 2 weeks to arrive , purchased a preloaded sim and could not make calls or text. Checked account and balance was 0 , customer services non existent , still waiting for a reply after 3 days.
Port in port out issue was solved by CS. Tom was really helpful, 5 starts for him
But...
Talk Home has so many restrictions now, not competitive to other easy going service providers.
Worth 1 start for Talk Home.
In fact, didn't port in to them at last.
Great price and a good service via live chat from Tom and Adam. Had a delay with SIM due to royal mail but another SIM quickly dispatched. A minor issue getting connected but was quickly resolved with a reboot.
Unable or unwilling to deliver the services they claim. Start with the headline : You will frequently be unable to make calls or send text messages with this "network". I should have realised what I was in for when the envelope that arrived with my SIM card in ti was empty... They literally sent an empty envelope. After speaking to the the dismissive customer service team for the first time, it was eventually re-sent. This was the first clue that this was not going to be a professional experience. What I didn't realise was that the empty envelope would end up being about much use as the SIM card I eventually received, as you will not be able to make phone calls with Talk Home.
As I travel around a bit, I found this problem immediately and throughout the Midlands, up as far as to Manchester and down as far as London. Upon trying to make a call, it won't connect and just terminates. Sometimes it would take 15-20 attempts just to get a connection.
I called Talk Home numerous times - although even then I couldn't always connect. Their poorly trained staff (not their fault) are very rude and dismissive (their fault!) and just try to get you off the phone asap with non-descript fixes. Most common is to say it must be the signal as everything is connected properly. Of course, my phone was reading full signal, but still wouldn't connect calls.
Over the space of a few months, the problem continued. I kept calling and emailing to see the issue, hoping it could be resolved. I was told again and again "it's your signal", until finally coming clean and admitted that though they claim to use EE's network, they don't actually have access to all of EE's bandwidths. So even though I had a strong signal and was in fairly large cities, I had no chance of getting a connection. Same applied to text messages.
I was slightly disappointed to find out I was paying for services that couldn't be provided, but upon asking for details of their complaints procedure I was told the email I received WAS their complaints procedure and I was welcome to leave.
Astonishingly poor phone and customer service. Really ashame you can't leave 0 stars. I've since moved our accounts to Lebara and it's working like a dream. Avoid Talk Home at all costs. Low cost shouldn't have to mean low quality.
This was a recent transfer for me spawned by price increases from my former supplier and my being a low-end user in terms of data and calls. The ordering via the website was very easy and the price was excellent but there were a few problems along the way that were down to our wonderful postal system - delivered to the wrong address - and carelessness on my part in data entry. Fortunately two of their agents, Tom and Adam had the knowledge, competence and patience to deal with them, which they did admirably. Online support via phone, email and chat services was prompt and always successful. I am so glad I chose THM.
Extremely Disappointing Experience
Having used numerous mobile networks over the past 20 years, I can confidently say Talk Home has been one of the worst. I chose Talk Home expecting a service comparable to EE — especially since they claim to use EE’s infrastructure — but the reality was far from it.
Throughout the 30 days I used their service, I struggled to complete a single clear phone call. Call quality was consistently poor, with voices breaking up or dropping entirely. It's clear Talk Home isn't offering the same level of access to the EE network that you'd get directly through EE, and the difference is massive.
I’ve since switched to Lebara and the improvement in service has been immediate and noticeable. In my opinion, Talk Home is not worth your time or money — avoid like the plague.
