Whole user experience with SunExpress has been awful! At the start all was looking well, I had been able to book seats for both legs of the trip and pay for an extra 5kgs of luggage. By being able to do all of this had assumed that we were checked in. Having checked several times on the app and on the main website was unable to see to confirm whether we were checked in or not. Although did think it strange that I hadn’t seen any boarding passes either on the booking via app or online nor email confirmation. Got to Gatwick South on Friday 20th June to drop in bags when check in opened only to be told we weren’t checked in and were changed £60 in total for the honour of having done by desk crew. I’m had been aware of being stung at the airport which is why I had tried several attempts to do it before getting to no avail and extreme confusion on the app and website with our booking.
Next issue encountered were passengers completely off their heads on drugs and another having had too much to drink. The people who were definitely taking drugs were unable to stand or sit without nearly doubling over and falling on seats and floor in queue. They were definitely NOT fit to fly! And thankfully were denied entry onto the flight. The individual who was drunk entered the plane and was met by cabin crew who were talking to them whilst leaning against the aircraft to keep them upright. The cabin crew allowed this person to board who was fine all flight.
Once on flight, cabin crew were lovely. Drink and food options minimal by comparison to other budget airlines. There was no aircon on for the flight so was quite hot and uncomfortable on the plastic seats. On our flight the most awful smell wafted through the plane every 20/30 minutes. Initially thought to be someone with upset tummy but to regular. Most likely dodgy plumbing on board plane for toilets or to do with aircon system which had been turned off on take off and that’s when the smell started! Until we landed, it was disgusting! 🤢 Filthy congealed soap dispenser in loo, looks like never been cleaned or changed! Loads of limescale in and around sinks. Would hate to think what a swab would return I terms of nasties!
For the return flight, boarding at airport all went well and safe to say I was FINALLY able to complete online check in after many attempts on both app and main website.
Boarded our return flight, quite busy. Just behind us a couple had to sit without their child on their lap. This too was a very hot and uncomfortable flight and many people were very hot with constant fanning using flight safety cards. I had asked the cabin crew 4 times to ask the captain to sort out aircon to no avail. Children sat on parents laps were niggly, hot and bothered and agitated. I had requested two cups of water as heat was unbearable. However, this may have been down to me being a woman of a certain age mainly but I don’t think this was the case for others and children on the plane, so it was hot! One of the cabin crew said they’d asked captain and he’d turned it on when this WAS NOT the case as no chance in temperature. Having been served 2 bottles of water and not cups as requested. I refused to pay for them and said to ask captain to pay for them due to unbearable heat!
So all in all I will never fly this airline again and have logged a formal complaint with the airline.
Having spoken to customer service on the phone who don’t engage to support and only divert you to the website to their feedback form. I completed this online feedback form on arrival at our destination on Saturday 21st June and to date have had no response. Hence sharing insights for others getting booked with this airline through their tour operators. We booked with Love Holidays.
Avoid at all costs! I’m more than happy with budget airlines and appreciate how companies have to operate to be able to do this but SunExpress haven’t got a clue and don’t even try to help. Got the sense of budget and robbing airline. #thinkRyanAir!
