Switch nightmare
Had an absolute nightmare switching my electric from Octopus to So Energy. My switch date was 27th June. I already had an account with So Energy as they supplied my Gas and I thought for ease I will move my electric over to them too, plus they were coming up cheaper than Octopus so I went ahead with the switch via Topcashback. Had confirmation and all looked good until the switch day itself. I couldn't see any record of electric on my account and was being asked to submit a meter reading so day 1 contacted them and they informed me I had been setup with an additional account, as I used same email for both they needed to merge the accounts and I was told it would be done within 24 hours, checked again 24 hours later and it wasn't done so contacted them again for an update only to find nothing had been done from my initial chat so a new request was logged, again after a few days I chased and was told it can take a few days. On my 5th attempt attempt at contacting them one of the advisors helped me gaining access to my account, they enabled it so I can switch between gas and electric when I login and I thought great everything sorted now. I then woke up to an email on 11th July with a final bill of zero from So Energy and they had closed the other account and merged them, even though the issue had been sorted. I am now been told I need to submit a reading as I they don't have one on file, even though I gave them one on my switch date and they have also changed my tariff start date from what was agreed. Spoke to another advisor online for the 6th time, but unfortunately I needed to attend a meeting so couldn't remain on chat, however, was told I would get an email with further details, as of yet nothing has been received so no doubt I will have to reach out a 7th time! Also to make matters worse So Energy haven't contacted my previous supplier yet so my account is still showing as active with them, although my balance is zero and I cancelled my direct debit so they don't try and charge me again. I would not recommend So Energy based on the terrible service received and the stress of switching (which is supposed to be hassle free).
