We sold our house in thornaby through smith and friends and Lindsey and Claire couldn't have been more helpful. We pretty much left it all up to them and They made the whole experience very pleasant and easy for us. We can't fault their communication and attention to detail and work ethic. We would highly recommend them for future house sales

Disgraceful avoid at all costs

I have rented a property from smith and friends for over a year now, but within the last 6 months I have endured a nightmare without ANY hot water at all during the winter months. This issue started in November of last year where I had no running hot water for a period of around 4 weeks, I actually posted a review at the time but after a discussion with the managing director of the company I gave him the benefit of the doubt and removed the review at his request on the basis that the hot water would be fixed, fast forwards nearly 5 months later and it did not get fixed, if you have anything wrong with your property be expected to organise contractors in your own time to allow access into your property (even though they have a key to enter) be expected to encounter reoccurring problems, nothing gets sorted first time. Be expected to see them try a “quick fix” in order to get you off their case, be expected to have crumbs dropped for you in terms of hope that you get whatever problems your dealing with are fixed just long enough until the next rent payment is due, be expected to be let down after waiting in for said contractors all day on your weekends off and finally be expected to be told lie after lie as to why things aren’t getting sorted. However they are more than happy to take the rent off you to live in an uninhabitable property, I actually submitted my notice to leave the property and would you know it 2 days later they waved a magic wand and had everything fixed ready for the new tenant I got little to no help from smith and friends, a “goodwill gesture” just shy of £200 and a weeks free rent “how generous” it doesn’t offset the amount of money I wasted on electricity boiling kettles full of water to wash my pots or having to pay to get a shower somewhere after a 14 hour day at work The total apathy from such a reputable company is quite frankly staggering, avoid them at all costs
