Absolutely unreliable
Absolutely unreliable. They have no control on your shipment. Nice sales folks but they are just a broker with no control on pretty much anything that relates to your shipment other than giving you a quote and charging you.

Schumacher Cargo Logistics has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about communication and customer service.

⭐ 1 star for SCAM! Absolutely disgusted by this greedy, unprofessional company. We arranged our international move from Reading, UK to Atlanta, USA through PSS Removals, who unfortunately partnered with this disgrace of a delivery company in the U.S. The experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Our contract clearly stated: “Destination: Atlanta (within 30 miles)” and yet, once the shipment reached the U.S., we were suddenly told we owe $170 extra for being "8 miles over" some vague, never-defined delivery zone. There’s no clear port mentioned, no explanation of how the distance is calculated, and when we started asking legitimate questions, the silence began. Ruth Ortiz stopped responding completely. Helen Griffin (PSS removals in the UK) ignored multiple emails. Steven Peña and managers Nik and Filip from the LA office have been totally unresponsive. It has now been nearly 3 months since our items left the UK - and I’m almost certain we’ll be waiting another 3 months, if not more. And based on everything I’ve read, I now live in fear that we’ll receive damaged goods on purpose, simply because we were asking too many questions and not agreeing to everything what they said. Unfortunately we had to pay, as they stopped talking to us. How pathetic. To make it worse, their packing methods are laughable - before shipping they wrapped almost everything in nothing but thin paper. No proper padding, no protection, it’s hard to believe this is a company trusted with international relocations. This isn’t just poor service - this is deliberate NEGLECT and MANIPULATION. Their entire strategy seems to be: ignore the customer, stall the delivery, and punish anyone who doesn’t quietly accept made-up charges. If I had known PSS REMOVALS (UK) was partnered with a U.S. SCHUMACHER CARGO LOGISTICS team like this, I never would have trusted them with our belongings. Now we’re left in limbo, wondering when - or even if - we’ll see our things again, and in what condition. Do not, under any circumstances, use this company. If you’re moving internationally and see Ruth Ortiz, Steven Peña, Helen Griffin, or any reference to this U.S. group through PSS — take your money and run. Greedy, dishonest, and utterly disgraceful. 1
Simply horrible. No help whatsoever. We imported two vehicles and Schumacher was supposed to facilitate the process stateside./. They did absolutely nothing, refused to answer questions and ended up charging more than double the quoted amount. Our vehicles were tagged for more extensive customs inspection, which was not Schumacher's fault. However, Schumacher did not monitor the process and declined to intercede which cost us an additional $10,000 in new charges on top of the $4,000 they billed. Only after months of our own efforts was that number properly reduced by $7,500, as the excess demurrage fees were an error. Schumacher was of no help. We did all the work with the certified warehouse (Hapag-Lloyd). Schumacher only bothered to answer us when we reported that we had resolved the problem. Prior to that, Schumacher issued us three adjusted invoices, each one including the erroneous fees. They were happy to simply let us pay the excess. This seems to be the common thread on all these negative reviews. They know that customers are typically one-time. They know these customers are likely eager to get their shipments, and will likely capitulate and pay the excess fees. We were just lucky to have the time and resources to wait and fight the fees. The way they mistreat their customers is truly shameful. Avoid Schumacher. Their 2 star rating on trust pilot, google and BBB is well-deserved. There are better options.
Outstanding International Moving Experience with Schumacher I recently used Schumacher for a relocation from the US to Germany, and I couldn't be more impressed. From the very first interaction, their team was responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful. The entire process was seamless from start to finish. After my initial call with the shipping coordinator, I felt so confident in their expertise that I didn’t even consider looking elsewhere. Their knowledge and clear communication put me completely at ease. On moving day, the crew arrived on time and worked efficiently while treating my belongings with the utmost care. Every item was handled thoughtfully, and the team was both courteous and respectful throughout the entire process. Schumacher made what could have been a stressful experience feel easy and manageable. I highly recommend them to anyone planning an international move—they’re truly a class act.

My agent in London subcontracted Schumacher for the US part of my international move. As soon as they received the shipment, they sent new charges, made pay shuttle service truck while not necessary. Very slow, it took them 2 months and 12 days to deliver my shipment from Newark to Chicago. No organization, they give a delivery window of 3 days not even with one week notice. Then got called on Saturday at 5 pm, to tell me delivery will be Sunday from 8:30 am. This is not a good company, stay away.
Unfortunately, our otherwise-great UK mover contracted with Schumacher for the US leg of our international move. Once Schumacher had our things, they sprung made-up new charges on us. They were also totally disorganized and gave us only one day's notice that our stuff was arriving. And then charged us yet another new fee because it was impossible for us to reserve parking at that point. This is a shady company that doesn't even pretend otherwise. Stay away.
My experience with Schumacher Cargo is pretty much the same as expressed by most of reviewers here. Have nothing new to add besides re-emphasising that this company must be avoided at all means. I was underquoted by 25%, they trick you into giving accurate quote once your stuff is in their possession at warehouse. 10% of our cargo were lost or stolen and didn't make it to the final destination. As later learned from their release agent in Europe approximately 7 out of 10 Schumacher Cargo clients experience cargo loss or damage and overall working with these people is a total disaster.
If I could rate 0 i would. Our belongings arrived from San Francisco to the uk*, everything was saturated in mould. No I’m not joking, the boxes looked like they had been dragged behind the boat here - then crushed. We had to throw all paper goods (books, highly valued collectable cards, artworks etc..) in the bin immediately because they were so mouldy. Even the wooden crate a sculpture had been packed into for protection was saturated inside and out with black, green and white mould. That’s not all though, they lost the hardware for our bed frame so we can’t put it together on top of just absolutely destroying the finish on the wood, it’s covered in massive scrapes, there are chunks taken out. They had the audacity to charge us an extra $1500 for “storage” charges incurred because of their bad planning- then refused to release it until it was paid. Our move coordinator dropped off the face of the planet and stopped responding to any communication. *a misnomer to say our good arrived because they lost a box, that was full of sentimental items, as well as the bed hardware, and even a video game console. Do not go anywhere near schumacher cargo.
Horrendous company who turned out to be both liars and extorters. August of 2021 we engaged them to ship all of our possessions when we moved from LA to London. After they failed to get our container on a ship for an entire month, they quietly decided to store it on a chassis in shipping container parking lot without our knowledge or consent at a vast cost. We had to keep chasing them trying to find our when our container would leave but they were appallingly unresponsive. When the container eventually arrived in the UK, their UK partners, Dorree Bonner informed us that our container would not be released from the port unless we paid an out of contract additional bill for $3,500 that Schumacher had incurred for the storage. This is in addition to their 'door to door' service costing already costing us $15,000. We messaged them saying the $3.5k bill was theirs to pay not ours but they completely ignored us saying they wouldn't send us our possessions until we paid. Literally extortion. Eventually we took the excruciating decision to pay their unjust bill but they STILL failed to have the container released from the port in time. We eventually received our container in mid-December. Their customer service was appalling and they are frankly criminals profiting from the shipping crisis.
Talked extensively with Ron Turnage in Houston about the paperwork needed to ship my vehicle from the U.S. to the U.K., (previous to it's collection), so that there were no costly mistakes to deal with after they had it. Upon his approval of the paperwork as it sat, had vehicle collected from buddy's house in the states and taken to Houston for shipping. They insisted on us mailing the paperwork instead of just putting it in the vehicle, which resulted in a lost paperwork scare after they'd collected the vehicle from us. Also added to the 'storage charges' which we will get to in a minute... Was quoted $2135.00 to ship it, plus customs clearance on the U.K. side, so went ahead with the contract. The collection agent(I know, third party company...) didn't notify my buddy in the states before showing up as requested so he could take the day off work to allow the driver access to the collection address and give him a hand loading if needed, so he waited around while my buddy made his excuses at work and rushed home to get him out of the street(car transporter rig blocking small country two lane blacktop road for 3 hours, awesome! The driver couldn't drive a column shift so my buddy put it on the truck for him, then pointed out his insecure load above our vehicle(crashed car with fully open hood on top of transporter, facing forward) and asked him to tie the hood shut so it didn't come off at speed and wreck the other cars on board, or kill another road user, which he did do thankfully. Leaves my buddy's place at around 3:30pm on it's way to Houston. My buddy notices the truck broken down on the side of the highway on ramp at 4:45am the next morning whilst on his way to work, with our vehicle still on the back. Sits there for most of a day, then our vehicle is then swapped to another transporter and taken to SCL's Houston depot. When our vehicle arrives with SCL in Houston, they waste a few days waiting around for the 'lost' paperwork to show up, then inform us that it wasn't going to fly as they had previously cleared it, and a new title was needed to proceed! Ron apparently overnighted(Fed Ex) the paperwork back to my buddy in Louisiana(vehicle's origin state) for a new title, but it took him 8 more days of 'lost' paperwork BS to admit that they hadn't even sent it back yet! When the paperwork actually arrived back at buddy's house, we find out that Louisiana has a weird law that says that any vehicle with a 12 digit or shorter VIN(older vehicles) have to be inspected by the State Police at their local station before a new title can be obtained, so vehicle had to be collected from SCL in Houston and brought back to La for said inspection! To then go on to another shipping company that actually knows their job after this whole debacle. This whole experience cost me $1450.00 in storage fees(they wasted 25 of the 35 days that I was charged for themselves with their inept business practices!) & other miscellaneous BS fees which were only tacked on once I'd informed them that I'd rather poke my own eye out with a red hot poker than trust them with ANYTHING that I care about again. Add to their 'nothing accomplished' fee the amount for the return transport cost, transport to the next shipping depot, Title agency fees & state taxes & this really was a costly lesson to learn! The entire time I was dealing with Ron(after collection), he wouldn't respond to an email and could hardly be reached on the phone for comment or update. Total sham of a company, & I'm keeping my promise to Ron and his associates to tell everyone that I know about their crappy "customer service." If you love your car or truck, for it's sake(& your mental health's!!), keep it away from them! They only got one star because I can't possibly give them less on here.... Save yourself!
Move from Texas to Portugal and a part of the goods from Portugal on to Amsterdam. Paintings were 'packed' or rather thrown into a large box without any separation or packaging of the individual paintings. They ew a piece of paper around a large lamp and shade together without even taking the shade off, it came completely smashed, of course. Randomly stacks of plates had not been packed individually and of course they were broken. Schumacher does not take any responsibility, and say it's an insurance question. The insur me know.ance cut our estimate in half plus the $500 own risk and are willing to pay $83.... I am telling them this is not an insurance matter but rather negligence from their part. I am planning to go to the BBB. If anyone has a similar experience please let me know.
Excellent service. We move furniture and car from Washington DC to Porto (Portugal), door to door without any damage and loss. Great work and tank you all😊✌️👍
VERY POOR SERVICE I made a qoute on their website, they replied on e-mail asking me the same things that i already put in the questions in the quote, further delaying me, and afterwards never got back to me! i will definetly find somebody more professionel og better to ship for my business.. just terrible service!
You would think moving an apartment from California to Australia would be simple with a company that boasts such a wealth of experience. Instead, Schumacher dropped the ball at nearly every stage. The initial quote of $3,000 suddenly became $5,000 after our goods had already arrived in Australia. They REFUSED to release our goods unless we paid their ransom. On top of that, they didn't even know how to 'clear' the goods from customs. We had to hire another completely separate company - at our own expense - to do the paperwork in Australia. These people are incompetent and shady. Avoid them!
