Sakura Mobile is very easy to set up via eSIM which is what I went for.
We travelled a fair amount in Japan and I had good coverage everywhere we went.
The price was fair (equivalent to about £25 per week for unlimited use).
I wasn’t sure how to set up the eSIM at first so I emailed Sakura Mobile help center. They replied within an hour and walked me through the IOS recommended settings.

All the processes was easy eve that i had an issue with the data not working because I did something wrong in the process, i contacted them through email and they were super fast and helpful and helped me to fix the issue, thanks for the amazing team and i highly recommend it

Fourth time in Japan and third time using Sakura. Ease of purchase, easy to load and complete coverage over the three visits. Sakura set the bar for others to reach, good luck with that!
Easy to set up and use; activated 3 cards for myself and family before boarding towards Haneda and we all enjoyed fast, reliable internet immediately on arrival, and we still enjoy ever since (please watch dates of qr-code requesting and activation, if doing it in advance: our flight was delayed and we were at risk of missing 48h window).
Understood what I wanted and needed for my daily use of the internet. Set me up with an eSIM and a portable wifi to use either at home or on the go. Always willing to help and answer questions when I had one. The biggest plus for me, they understood me in english as I am a foreigner. That helped me the most.
The process from registration to picking up the pocket WiFi was simple and very flexible.
My flight was delayed by a day, so I informed Sakura Mobile via email. They responded quickly and assured me that it wasn’t a problem, as they allow a 3-day pickup window.
That message really reassured me, as I was worried I might have to register all over again — which often happens with such services.
The device is easy to use and it was easy and convenient to register at Sakura mobile, I've got the necessary things quite fast and without any problems. The pocket wi-fi works completely fine drano technical issues with it.
I got the home WiFi. After a few weeks it simply stopped connecting. But the company quickly responded to my email for help and got it sorted within a few hours.
I've been using it for a month now and so far I had no major problems. Sometimes it does slow down but I figured that maybe it's just the peak hours and it's what I expected from a mobile Wi-Fi anyway. As for the device itself, it does have a quite long battery life which was surprising.
Sakura mobile has excellent service snd kind agents. The will always tell you the truth and take the time to explain it. You may not like the rules, but the explanation will be delivered with care. I have their Fastest home internet and two mobile contracts. I plan to be with Sakura for a long time.
