MONEY FIRST ANIMAL SECOND
MONEY. MONEY. MONEY. That is the priority. I recently took my dog as I suspected he had bloat. The vet agreed and said they would sedate him to xray. They phoned me and confirmed that the dogs stomach had twisted (gastric torsion) and he needed to be operated on. The vet then said they could not do an operation till I had paid £2600.00. Luckily I had a credit card and was put through to a receptionist to pay. The dog unfortunately died shortly after the operation. He never came home. I am left wondering, how long was he on the operating table before the operation was done, while they seemed more bothered about the money than the dog. I'll obviously never know but am left with that thought in my head. With gastric torsion, the vets know, as do I, that EVERY MINUTE IS CRUCIAL. Yet they wasted valuable time. It is not as if I am a new customer I have been a client for a few years now. I have several dogs. registered with them. I rang a couple of weeks after this to ask, If I hadn't had a credit card what would they have done. The reply was that one alternative would be to pay half the money up front and the rest on payments. I said not everyone has that sort of money instantly, what is the alternative. The reply - euthanasia. The vets I assume are following company policy and it seems as if the company policy is get the money first - dogs well being second.
