Richard - ID 5009 turned up to within a few seconds of the expected time given by the app. He got straight to work and identified the problem. Very professional and informative. He did not carry the battery i needed, but he got the vehicle started so i could drive to local garage.
Great, professional service from George ID: 2376. Very knowledgeable and courteous
Excellent customer service

Geoff was brilliant! 10 stars! BUT (and it wasn't his fault it took him 8 hours to get to us) how does anyone ring the RAC? I wanted to tell them to leave the breakdown till the next day as we had now got to 10pm, the car was stuck in the high street and we wanted to go home to bed! Some people have commented that they managed to ring the RAC. How please? Oh. .... and the app isn't as good as RAC think - I couldn't find the documents so haven't got the breakdown report and can't ring them for help as i can't find their number! I repeat GEOFF WAS BRILLIANT!

Julian (2974) was excellent, he arrived quickly and was able to identify the issue but unfortunately it was not one that could be fixed at the roadside. Although his shift had ended and he was close to his own home he towed me back to my home which took an hour. He did this so that I didn’t have to wait alone in the dark on the motorway for the evening crew to arrive which could have taken a really long time. He explained what was wrong with my car and offered to drop it at my local garage and then drop me home if that was easier for me. Julian was very professional but also friendly and a genuinely nice person. He got me and my car out of danger and home safely. Thank you Julian 🙂

Having booked my breakdown at 06.15 the website crashed so got no further update till I received a call from Philip 1717. He arrived at 09.30 meaning I missed my hospital appointment. Phillip 171 was very professional and helpful. When the website crashed I found it totally impossible to contact anybody in the EAC. Shame on you RAC 👎

There seems to be a theme here, also 15hours for me. Call made 7pm on the Wrynose pass (anyone who has driven this road will understand what this means). I was given a lift by passer-by’s to make the initial call and was told 60-90mins. I raced back up the pass on foot (don’t recommend I’m 25degrees). I confirmed before setting off that once I was back at my car, I would have no reception and to pass this info on to the recovery staff so they knew. 830pm came and went but I was reasonable and waited until 930pm to leave my car to find a signal. Long story short is that I had to leave the car 4 times on a very isolated mountain pass and hike up 2miles every time they did not turn up within the time disclosed, to then be told another time. I pleaded the situation that if I was not in such an isolated area and having to physically hike miles to get each update I’d have been okay to wait. The issue was being given a time, failure to show, my allowing an hour or more for traffic/delays etc, then having to hike again to find out what was happening. I know that was not in their control anymore than mine but it did mean they needed to do better with providing accurate info. I was well prepared - water, extra food (I ran out eventually) and I had extra clothes and a sleeping bag. If I’d not had those I’d have been in trouble because there was no urgency and a location like that is not a priority it seems. I was offered a taxi and tow at 430am after another trip up the pass. At 730am, nothing. Back up I went and was picked up by a taxi at 10am - driver was fantastic. The tow truck was delayed so, leaving my car behind, I requested the car be diverted to a garage. The tow truck turned up with my car, at my home, just 30mins ago. He has now taken it to the garage so more wasted time. A truly dreadful first experience where communication is clearly lacking. I agree with other reviews - too many customers for the amount of engineers/transport they have available. An abrupt staff member on the 430am call, but the rest were empathetic. Sort the communication out and know it is not acceptable to leave anyone in such an isolated area having to hike miles for incorrect updates multiple times. I’m lucky I was okay with being in the middle of nowhere and was relatively prepared. For a non local it would have been horrendous

I booked and paid £349 on 09/07/25 for an RAC mobile vehicle inspection, giving my home address exactly as requested. At no point during the booking call did the adviser mention that the car had to be on a private driveway or work car park; I would happily have made different arrangements had I known. On the appointed day the engineer arrived late, saw that my car was parked on a quiet residential street and immediately refused to carry out the inspection. I suggested several safe alternatives nearby including a level side street and an empty bay at the local sports centre but he rejected every option and would not even perform a limited inspection. I telephoned RAC straight away to re-arrange, but was told I wouldn't be able to and to raise a complaint. I then raised a formal complaint, asking for either a full or partial refund to cover the engineer’s unused time. RAC’s final response was a flat refusal: they said their terms require an off-road location, despite that condition never having been mentioned when I booked. The bottom line is that I have received no inspection and no refund, and I am now pursuing recovery through my credit-card issuer under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. If you are considering an RAC inspection, make absolutely sure, and get it in writing, that your proposed parking spot meets their requirements, otherwise you too may find yourself out of pocket.

Absolutely shocking recovery times! Broke down at 5pm on a very hot day with my partner and 4 kids (one of them disabled) Didn't get home until 6:30pm the following day! ETA times were constantly changing with no communication from 5:30pm until 01:00am ( i called them) Refused compensation for loss of earnings. Had the breakdown took 12 hours (still excessive amount of time) I wouldn't have lost pay from work.
