Review summary
Newton Property Management receives consistently positive reviews. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about communication and customer service.
I contacted Robert Gilfillan regarding an issue I was experiencing whilst paying for my quarterly statement.
Robert was very understanding and accommodating, he was responsive and assuring. Couldn’t be happier with the finance dept of this organisation.
Thank you Robert.
This is a genuine review from a genuinely impressed customer of Newton Property Management.
Robert Gilfilan spotted something irregular on my account and sorted the issue, effectively. For that and for restoring my faith in humankind, I am grateful!
Newtons are clearly reviewing themselves with five stars. All reviews are similar to try and cover up how bad their service is. Several reviews from June and all mentioning specific employees. BEWARE!! THEY ARE AWFUL!!
I cannot thank Elizabeth Connon enough for her efficiency in handling our repairs at the property. Never in the 6 years have we had a property manager who has actually visited the property or rectified everything so quickly .
Had the misfortune of having to deal with Newton Property and in particular the assigned representative despite them not being our property factor. They are the factor for the adjacent property which had the entire rear of the building’s roughcasting removed and replaced over the span of several weeks.
The issue arose with the building contractor they used. They caused damage to plants, pots, lights, a bench and washing line pole. Also leaving loads of rubble and rubbish behind.
I first contacted Newton property about this in April after the contractors had up and left. Spoke to Jack Munro who asked me to forward photos of the mess and damage which I did…. Then I heard nothing.
I had left messages with him and when I finally got through to him his claim was he hadn’t checked his messages. Each time I called I would have to explain over and over again to a receptionist what the issue was and each time I would explain that I cannot leave a message since everytime JM had failed to reply to every previous message.
The contractors did come out and clean up the mess and remove the rubbish but according to JM they would only accept responsibility for the broken plant pots. This was discussed back and forth over the next few weeks, each time I was assured by JM that I would be contacted later that day or the next but absolutely nothing from him.
I’m of the view I think the incredulous approach taken by JM was if he just ignored it I would go away in time.
In the end (approx 5 or 6 weeks later) I asked one of the receptionists the name of his department head and this finally prompted a response from JM. That response was that the damage is not their responsibility and I should have to take it up with the contractor.
The last contact I had with Newton Property was with the department head John Hempstead who reiterated it's not their responsibility and again take it up with the contractor. On asking for the contractor details I never received a reply.
The damage and garbage was documented and the work should not have been signed off till all issues are resolved. Newton Property are the ones that facilitated this job getting done and should be reviewing its completion is done to standard while ensuring 3rd party property is not damaged in the process.
There really needs to be a governing body for not just Newton Property but all building factors. The approach taken by JM of hoping it will go away and dissolving themselves of all responsibility was utterly unacceptable.

I had already sked for the contractor details but never got a reply. Seems to be consistent with your reps.
As for vehemently denying the damage. There was an acceptance to some of the damage already and nothing was done about that either. All of which was documented by photographs.
For what it is worth, this review and your reply is a good insight for others to see what type of company they will be dealing with should something occur with your incredulous approach. Your reply only serves to highlight the dismissive tactic I had since the first contact.
Highly professional service and dependable in an emergency
Would like to say a huge thank you to Zac Inglis and Jamie-Lee McKelvie from the Glasgow branch of Newton Property Management. There was a water ingress issue in my flat and both Zac and Jamie-Lee both provided vital assistance in terms of communication and remediation, during a critical and time-sensitive issue.
Brilliant service and made all the difference in aiding with a very stressful situation. Thanks again and I'm very grateful to have yourselves plus Newton as our Factors!
I’d like to thank Elizabeth Connon from resolving a long standing issue regarding Key fobs. Not only did she arrange for them to be programmed properly but she showed compassion and understanding to me during what has been a very difficult year for me.
Do Not Trust Newton with Your Property – A Nightmare ExperienceAbsolutely appalling property…
Absolutely appalling property management – avoid at all costs
Newton Property Management has been nothing short of a disgrace. Despite repeated and urgent complaints about severe water ingress, mold, and now fungus growing inside the communal hallway, they have consistently failed to take meaningful or timely action. The building is deteriorating to the point of being uninhabitable, with a persistent stench of damp, unsafe living conditions, and visible structural damage.
Communication is poor to non-existent, and when responses are given, they’re full of vague deflections and legal disclaimers. Newton hides behind technicalities to avoid taking responsibility, despite acting as the appointed factor. Tenants and owners are left in limbo while they stall behind the excuse of a "survey in progress" that has dragged on endlessly without any concrete dates or interim solutions.
I've personally spent over £10,000 fixing repeated water damage in my flat, only to see the same issues return due to their complete failure to address the root cause – the external condition of the building. Temporary mitigation has been outright dismissed. Insurance hasn’t been activated. And they even suggest that residents should find alternative housing rather than solving the problem they’ve been entrusted to manage.
In short, Newton Property Management does not care about resident welfare, building condition, or basic accountability. If you’re considering hiring them or buying a property under their management – don’t. You’ll be on your own when things go wrong.
Was assisted by Debbie at the Aberdeen office.
Debbie was professional and so helpful in solving my query.
I was kept upto date throughout and issue resolved.
Thank you Debbie
My experience of Newton has been a bit mixed so far, difficult to contact and lack of information, but I’m sure that going forward this will improve. A big help in this has been the support and communication from William who has always responded in a timely and professional way. He has taken the time to talk to me about the processes and factoring and has generally been approachable and helpful. In isolation I would give William a 5 star review.
Big thanks to Elizabeth for finally getting the long-standing issue with the overgrown weeds next to my house sorted — and all within a week. I’d been waiting years for this to be addressed, and her prompt action and communication made all the difference. Really appreciate her getting it done so efficiently!
