Mariott Surf Club Aruba
We have owned a time share at the Marriott Surf Club in Aruba and it has been great. Great service and great experience for our family. We highly recommend it.

Marriott Vacation Club receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from consumers, with many describing their experiences as deceptive and frustrating. Reviewers frequently express dissatisfaction with the sales tactics, claiming they were misled about the nature of the timeshare and pressured into purchases during presentations. Customers report feeling trapped in a system of broken promises and financial manipulation, with many stating that the promised benefits of ownership, such as booking flexibility, are illusory. While some owners appreciate the club's points system and the brand's reputation, these positives are overshadowed by complaints about poor customer service and a lack of support when issues arise. Overall, the sentiment is predominantly negative, with many urging potential buyers to avoid Marriott Vacation Club altogether.

When we went to a presentation at the resort, we directly asked the salesmen, “Is this a timeshare?” They lied to our face and said no. The whole thing was just one shameless lie after another. We wer... See more

I have been an owner for over eight years and I would highly recommend never buying a timeshare from them any longer. They have completely changed their programs so you can barely rent it and nothing besides staying in the room as of a good value any longer and even that it’s only a good value only 40% of the time. Then to get those 40% of the time you have to book nearly a year in advance, whatever you do do not waste $10,000’s of thousands of dollars when you can rent an Airbnb for the same price as your yearly maintenance fees are rapidly increasing every year and are currently at $3000 for one week of vacation
Purchased package Dec 2023 in NYC office What a scam. I am lifetime Marriott fan but this has turned me off. I just looked at 10 resorts over 12 month period and non have availability. They made it seem so easy in presentation. I am a car salesman and they got me. I have spent hours on website and nothing is ever available Please do not purchase. Now I am stuck paying yearly maintence fees. Rather take that money and use Marriott Bonvoy. So much easier
For over 30 years, I have been associated with Marriott as a Lifetime Titanium member and MVC owner. For years, I have complained about the annual maintenance fee increases. When an alternative was offered, we fell victim to what we now recognize as a bait and switch tactic. The points-based replacement for the deeded property has cost us dearly. The idea of "appreciation" never materialized, and the resale value is near zero, with no market demand. The maintenance fees are outrageous, and we have no intention of continuing. In 2024, the maintenance bill for the "virtual unit" was $1,027.48, up from $943.87 in 2023 for significantly shorter stays. In contrast, the fee for a week at Cypress Harbor was about $232 per unit/day ($1,625) in 2022. Under the "new and improved" points system, the fee is $393 for each of the 2.62 days our points will cover; $161 more per day. The value we are receiving falls far short of what we were led to believe. The flexibility to convert MVC points to Bonvoy points has been significantly curtailed. As an early owner, I was grandfathered with rules allowing me to exchange my week for Bonvoy points, a practice I used often. Currently, our MVC points balance is 4,500, with 2,000 incentive points expiring on May 29, 2024. I am unable to exchange any of these points. Previously, if an MVC property wasn't available, I would exchange MVC points for Bonvoy points and opt for a hotel stay. We feel deceived by MVC. We leapt at what we were told was a superior offer but are trapped in a deal that was misrepresented as promising savings but delivering poor value for more money. The new points system was positioned as an escape from the high maintenance fees, which were escalating as many other owners made the transition, leaving a smaller pool of owners to support the properties. We request immediate action to release us from this obligation and convert our remaining points to Bonvoy points.
We purchased a package to return for a presentation for over 1200.00. They never had availability and then told us they could not honor the package. Horrible company and do NOT believe anything they say. They basically stole our money. How can you charge someone for nothing?????
We have been Westin owners since 2007 and thought we had experienced fantastic vacations every year...until this one! We traveled to the beautiful island of Aruba and absolutely fell in love! We went to our presentation and immediately purchased ownership! We are happy owners of a slice of heaven and now are MVC owners as well! We love the brand, the people and the locations! So much to enjoy! Delida family, Ohio
We have been owners for over 23 years and have absolutely no regrets. We have created so many memories with our children, friends and even by ourselves from Hawaii to the Caribbean and many places in between, including Owner Cruises! We continually go to sales presentations to learn about new ways to enjoy our timeshare ownership and have never been pressured to purchase more, most recently in Aruba. However, we are sure in the near the near future we will expand our portfolio to enjoy even more good times with friends and family!
Marriott Vacation Club, Aruba, is the best travel investment we made starting 20 years ago. We have added to our portfolio, traveled worldwide, and embraced the expansion of Marriott opportunities. If you like to travel, MVC is first-class. The properties, associates, and sales teams are A+.
I am writing this review because our journey with Marriott, specifically with the Westin Vacation Club, has been filled with moments of joy shadowed by overwhelming financial and emotional stress. We were drawn in by an offer for a stay at the Westin Kaanapali Resort in Maui, which required attending a 90-minute timeshare presentation. This presentation extended well beyond the promised time, setting a precedent for our future interactions. Despite our initial reluctance, we were subjected to high-pressure sales that led us to purchase a timeshare at the Nanea Resort. Promises made at the time of purchase, such as the ability to book our preferred location and the stability of maintenance fees, have not been honored. Contrary to the assurances given, we have struggled to book time at our home resort. This has significantly diminished the value of our investment and the enjoyment of our membership. Each time we’ve tried to book a vacation the website shows very little availability, which then requires us to phone in a reservation, which leads to long hold times. Throughout our interactions, we were provided with misleading information regarding the cost and benefits of our timeshare. Maintenance fees have escalated beyond our expectations, adding to our financial burden. When comparing the availability and cost on the timeshare website to the Marriott app, there is a significant difference in what is being made available. I have since found that I can book all the Marriott timeshare resorts through the Marriott app for significantly cheaper than what I pay for the monthly timeshare payments + maintenance fees. We are simple, hardworking people who have been taken advantage of and now we are stuck in a contract that is draining us financially, with nothing in return. I have reached out and asked to be released from our contract, but I have yet to hear back from them.
We have been owners since 2006 and loved every year since. We are a very loyal Marriott family and would not consider buying timeshare anywhere else. The resorts are all first class and beautiful. The resort staffs are all very friendly and extremely helpful. We currently own 5 weeks at the Marriott Surf Club in Aruba and look forward to staying multiple weeks in February and March every year. We also own points and have used our points for a number of fantastic tours including China, the Scandinavian countries, the National Parks tour, South Pacific Wonders tour, and several others. We have also met and stay in contact with a number of other Marriott owners throughout the year. We are Chairman Level owners with pride and highly recommend Marriott timeshare. The Bandel family, we are from New Jersey, owners since 2006.
We bought in Aruba at the Surf Club back in 1995. Since then we have bought many points to get to Chairman status. We love Marriott and we only use Marriott properties when traveling. We can count on the friendliness and cleanliness of every property we use. We have taken owners cruises as well which you get many perks with. If you plan on buying timeshares, buy Marriott. They are the best! The Petrus family
I'm an ex-owner, one thing you all need to ask before you sign on the bottom line is to ask the club to advise you how many unit-weeks have been sold at that location. I don't think you will get an answer as they have probably sold more unit-weeks that are available. This is why it's almost impossible to book your weeks and availability is so dire. Plus there is the crazy situation that you cannot book a particular period, yet when you go on Hotels.Com there is availability at a price. Some thoughts I have:- Marriott vacation Club is not owned by the Marriott Company Marriott vacation Club owns Interval International
The Marriott Vacation Club - Ocean Club Aruba - is fabulous! We have been owners for years and the professionalism, cleanliness, comfort, and quality of service have never wavered. The leadership and sales team at this location have done it right. First Class! Thank you!
DON'T DO IT!! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! While in Cancun, in lieu of a timeshare, I opted to buy an encore vacation package as a single person. They faithfully charged my credit card monthly, but when I attempted to book the trip, they asked if I was cohabitating with anyone. I have a roommate, and they said it was required that this person accompanies me on this trip. They further insisted that this clause is in the contract I signed and refused to book my trip. I called again once I found the contract which made no mention of my relationship status, and the person booked my trip. I was called back and they let me know the confirmation was rescinded because they upheld the original agent's assessment. I don't know why Marriott would attach their name to such a shady operation. They are not affiliated with Marriott at all. If I could give 0 stars, I would! 10 out of 10, I do not recommend!
They are scammers!!! I was mis-sold in 2018, unfortunately I never use my weeks. Last year I exchange my weeks with interval and the experience was horrible. I contacted Marriott that I wanted to sell my apartment and was told that it's not sellable, I will need to loss over £40k I paid. This was not my understanding when buying the apartment, I was made to understand that I can sell it whenever I want to sell
I woul have given them a 0 if possible. High pressured liars and hide fees throughout the contracts. They tell you one thing and then in the contracts that they race through, sign you to something different. Complete scam
Marriott Vacation Club is an incredible organization. I recently stayed at Marriott’s Grand Chateau and had a wonderful stay with my family. I highly recommend looking into this ownership program.
I can’t advise enough against anyone purchasing a Marriott Vacation Club package. Like other commentors are saying they never have availability when you try to make a reservation. You have to book over the phone at a specific time on a specific day and you are effectively in a race for availability, which doesn’t ever seem to work out in my favour. I bought a three week platinum seafront package deal back in 2019 and I am yet to use it! Absolutely disgraceful business model. Stay away from Marriott Vacation Club.
We recently stayed at the Aruba Surf Club and had a great time with friends and family. We bought another 3 BR unit week as our family has grown and loves Aruba. We have been owners of MVC units for over 20 years, and enjoy our stays at our MVC properties. We have invested in multiple weeks, and enjoy using and sharing them with family, friends and employees. We are planning an extended family reunion in Aruba in 2025, and have gotten our units reserved for that event. We are looking forward to it and using our new 3 BR unit!
Regret our purchase! Properties never available, no housekeeping, over the last 5 years same properties we have been to are unkept, can't ever talk to anyone always on perpetual hold, maintenance fees are outrageous! Do not buy into this!!!!
