IDrive Online Backup Reviews

The product works well, but there are two "issues" in the user interface that in my humble opinion, should be "fixed". #1) Within the user interface, it was implied I could back up a Google Drive by specifying the drive letter. So I created a backup set to do so. But you can't which I learned from support. #2) I checked a box somewhere to send me a status email after every backup, and every email says "failed" but when I did into the log it says something like "Files backed up now: 14, Files failed to backup: 3". And I can't figure out how to see which files were backed up, and which failed. The email contains instructions on how to see what's "excluded", but that's different. Below is an example from the most recent log file: [Files considered for backup: 36518] [Files already present in your account: 36501] [Files backed up now: 14, Size: 622.49 MB] [Files failed to backup: 3] [Some of the files / folders you have chosen may have been excluded from backup. This means that the backup of these particular files / folders will not take place. View the list of excluded files / folders from the Settings tab.] [Note: Backup of one or more files has failed due to "failed verification -- update retained" error. This indicates that copies of these files are not present in your account.][Some files / folders could not be backed up due to an unexpected error.] All in all, it works. It backs up. I tested a restore. It worked. But, those two issues mentioned above prevented me from giving a rating of 5 stars.

The system is easy to use and the features are very useful I particularly like the online drive. Also the way you can use the online site to schedule backups is useful.

Still a bit challenging to set up. Still not backed up. Using a PC with One Drive. Want a mirror image so I can copy onto another laptop. Just called Tech support and they said my computer was locked so I could not do a mirror image but I could copy the entire C Drive. They talked me through it which I am doing now. They said I need to call back to copy to another computer. We'll see...

While the backup works, set up and features are far from intuitive. Not nearly as seamless as some other backup programs. That said, very responsive support team. Just wish I hadn't needed to contact them the first week of subscription.

Backup failed over and over. Went to chat and phone tech support several times to no avail. Asked for refund more than once and finally got it.I would rate customer service a 3 out of 10. Went to competitor and everything worked the first time. IDrive did not work for me.

I subscribed to iDrive in search of a backup solution for OneDrive and Quicken specifically. I was using Norton Backup and did not like the lack of control I had over failed jobs. If a single job failed, they forced the user to re-run all of the backup jobs, whether they were a source of the problem or not. I tried DropBox and did not like the imposing shortcut they place for the sync folder in the navigation pane of Windows Explorer on Windows 10 (it’s all I tested it on). I had to resort to a set of registry edits to remove the shortcut once I uninstalled the software. It’s been a known issue for years, so I have to conclude that they see it as a form of branding your PC with a “DropBox was here” sort of mark. Their backup offers basically a one-way sync of the files you choose. There is no way to easily create multiple versions of the files you backup, either with multiple backup sets or versioning. At first I was confused by the lack of multiple backup sets with iDrive until I discovered the versioning feature they implemented. For anyone using Quicken, it will completely change the way you backup your database. Rather than give each backup a date and time stamp in the file name (this leads to serious file cleanup issues with most systems that keep files even when deleted from the source) you allow iDrive to version a single backup file name (up to 30 versions!), brilliant. They don’t even charge for the storage space the old versions use, just the current file. Traditional backup with named media and multiple backup sets iDrive is not, but once you understand their design and usage, it’s a slick little backup service, especially with the versioning feature they have implemented. Be patient with your initial upload, it’s not the fastest transfer I’ve seen, but subsequent iterations work in a few minutes as long as the updates stay below a gig. Would recommend a closer look.

Intuitive interface, Fast Transfer AND Fantastic Support!

I am really enjoying it so far. There have been 0 issues and having that content feeling that your backups are backed up is priceless.

Very easy to set up and use. Feel that this provides me enough space to backup everything I need at a reasonable price.

iDrive is pretty straightforward and easy to use. The price is affordable. While I have just been using it a short time, I think it is doing the job and backing up the files I need to protect.

Provenendo da diversi anni di uso di un servizio di backup concorrente (Backblaze), non ho potuto fare a meno di apprezzare la flessibilità e la completezza delle opzioni offerte. Circa 8TB di dati messi al sicuro sia da PC che da NAS Synology senza problemi. Il trasferimento dati verso IDrive non è velocissimo, ma paragonabile a quello di altri servizi simili. Più che buono il rapporto qualità/prezzo.

Just started using iDrive moving away from Google Drive due to piracy concerns. Things i have noticed slow upload speeds but could be due to my internet connection, using iDrive through my NAS to backup my NAS the software is abit hit or miss wheather it works or not. App on android seems abit outdated looks like its from a few years ago. Will see how it goes can't complain about the amount of space you get for the price just needs spme updating to the GUI's

I recently needed to find a secure and safe online backup storage system for my 2 NAS devices. I searched and found IDrive and the rest is history. I have 20tb securely backing up to my account, i can review my files anytime I need to even when not at home. Process was simple, easy and stress at a time when I needed it as the worry of lost work and data is now not an issue.

If you're looking for something that will backup and secure your household data...IDrive is your application to do it with. The price point is second to none, reliable, network speeds are solid, and security is top notch. Some may find the security a "Little much," but in a world of ransomeware, phishing expeditions, and straight up thieves. I find IDrive's ( Somewhat ) 2-factor authentication inline with corporate security ( I do this for a living ). With that being said, I'm not convinced that I would use this software in my enterprise enviorment. While the 2-factor auth is presented very well. In an enterprise enviorment, receiving emails would become too monotonous to a user ( there are plenty of 2-factor auth apps out there to use ). I gave this application 5 stare because it does what it said what it does, and i have had no issues with it. But there is a caveat with this review. I received an email asking me to give my opinion and review to receive my one year cloud storage purchase price back. Down below ( Before I click "Submit" ) it states: "I confirm this review is about my own genuine experience. I am eligible to leave this review, and have not been offered any incentive or payment to leave a review for this company." Well, my statement is true, but I have been offered "incentive" to leave a evaluation. Take my statement for what it is worth. But my experience is genuine and as the title states.

The iDrive software works as advertised which is exactly what I was looking for. The upload is a little slow - but, from prior reviews that's what I expected and not a problem since it can run in the background. I have tested the restore function and the interface is clear and it works well. There are a couple of minor UI changes I would suggest but I'll post those directly to the software team. All in all I recommend iDrive.

IDrive is very simple to set up and once set up it just automatically does its thing. I am a backup nut and want my data backed up in multiple ways. Time Machine, OneDrive, and now IDrive! I love it!

The service itself is great. The application UI is a bit cluttered, and the settings don't always "take." I had to ask customer support how to get some settings to do what they say they are doing.

Seems good! Back up quite efficient.
