I had the displeasure of going to the College and Spadina location to purchase a Master Lock , lock box , when I brought it to set up and deposit keys in it, the number dial will not rotate once I changed the code from the original, took it immediately and exchanged it to a different model master Lock box, we experienced the same problem once the code was changed where the dial was stuck and will not rotate. When I took it back and requested for a refund, I was referred to an asian employee, who said that she sells a lot of these lock boxes, this is the first time she is having a complaint, will not provide us a refund because it was the second time within the same day that I am returning the lock boxes and I did not know how to set up the lock box. I was asked to come back on Monday so that an employee who knows how to set up the lock box will show me how to set it up. I had to advise her that I work with lock boxes all the time in my profession and I clearly knew how to set up a lock box and demonstrated and showed her where the rotating dial gets stuck once the code is changed and insisted that she provides us the refund today as we have to have the lock box tomorrow morning set up and cannot wait until Monday. With continued persistence she finally provided me the refund. I would like the following done by the Home hardware head office.
1) Compensate me for the time I wasted going back and forth trying exchange and obtain a refund.
2) I would like to know as to what the refund policy of Home hardware is and if all of their franchise owners are aware of the head offices refund policy.
3) Check all of the Master Lock, lock boxes in this store to ensure that they are working and they are not duping innocent customers by selling and not refunding non working lock boxes.
4) Train the franchise owner and the asian lady who dealt with us on the importance of customer centric approach to dealing with customer concerns.
We had to drive to a home depot and purchase the same lock and it works fine as per its design.
Very disappointed and will not recommend this location.
