    Atrocious car care

    Atrocious car care, frankly I do not know where to begin. DO NOT SEND YOUR CAR TO HALFORDS AUTO CENTRES. Had my car serviced and MOT'ed back in November received a huge £700 bill After it failed it's MOT. When I took the car back from paying my £700 bill to have my breaks cleaned and my back light replaced. I had engine lights going mad on my car, obviously concerned I returned the next day for them to have a look at it (free of charge) they wiped my CPU unit of its history and told me it was an electrical fault and should be fixed now, Engine light came back i went back the following week for them to have an extensive look at it they again told me it was an electronic fault THE CAR IS SAFE MECANICALLY TO DRIVE.. and told me to visit a garage that specializes in electrics I visited another garage another week and a half later, baring in mind i was driving this car for nearly 3 weeks at this point, he popped the bonnet within 10 mins found the break fluid was empty and my engine oil was low EXTREAMLY dangerous to have been driving around without both these things. He told me when they cleaned the breaks they didn't resupply the break fluid and also didn't top my engine oil (which is included in a service). As my car was fixed I decided to leave it be and take it as an accident not to bother chasing it even though the auto center had me driving a death trap for several weeks. 5 months later my wipers break, I didn't know why took it to the auto center they tell me its preferable not to use the wipers as the bracket is badly damaged but the motor was fine they also told me the part was difficult to get ahold of and will take a few day to price up, , telling me it may take till the end of June to fit, a 4 week wait with no wipers. They get back to me two days later with a price for the linkage and bracket of £802.68! I would need to buy a new motor to get the bracket? impossible to comprehend really, My dad (not a mechanic) opened up where the wipers are located and showed me the linkage is broken, Snapped entirely. Nothing to do with a bracket?, he then shows me the damage on my car where the Halfords team didn't bolt it all back together again and has scratched the paint work around the top of the bonnet. He then showed me it would cost £11 pounds with 2 days delivery by from ebay, or £40 to by on amazon next day delivery. The fitting took 17 mins, they work like brand new now. I'm not suggesting that Halfords could use such sites to get their parts but with the cost and the amount of time T would have been waiting for the fitting they could have suggested I look elsewhere or recommended another auto center but I was put under the impression this part was expensive in its own right and hard to obtain. With all this in mind I sent in a formal complaint to head office, spoke to the store manager the next day and the following day received a voicemail from him denouncing any accountability for both of these occasions. My closing thoughts on the matter were of I didn't want any compensation. I just thought they should be aware their prices are a rip off and they don't complete servicing and MOT's correctly leaving your car with issues it didn't go in with and a big bill to pay for part replacements that arent necessary. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

    If you want to experience really terrible customer service

    I ordered a dash cam with fitting at Halfords Burfield shop, after paying for the item and receiving the receipt I noticed that instead of my chosen store I was given another store in Havant. I have spent an hour on the phone to Halfords explaining their error only to be told that they could not transfere the order. I am now told that a refund for something I haven't had will take 3-5 working days and in the meantime I am left with no product and no money. The customer service is absolutely appalling and for a manager to suggest I was lying, sorry Halfords I will never shop with you ever again. John Fitzpatrick

    Efficient visit to Halfords Charlton

    Efficient visit to Halfords Charlton. I was shown where the item I was looking for was to be found, advised that the one I chose was wrong (oops!) and then assisted to use the tape to repair my car. Shabaz was really friendly and helpful - much appreciated.

    Dash cam debacle.

    If you want a dashcam, do not buy online at Halfords. I ordered a dashcam and chose the fitting option. Fitting was not available at my local store and I had to choose an outlet some miles away. On the first visit I was told that the fitting pack had not arrived and I should return the next day. On my return, I was told that my order did not exist and the only option was a refund. I contacted the CEO customer service team and their best offer was to go to my local store where they would arrange delivery and fitting. I pointed out that this was not on offer online and perhaps I should just have my money back. No effort to understand my wasted time and costs. Extremely poor service. Do not purchase your dashcam from this provider.

    Service cancellation

    Booked my car in for a full service A before my service I got a phone call saying they didn’t have any staff to do my service (Tumble weed moment) Halfords doesn’t have any staff I replied to the lady caller and said there’s still 12 days left I was told that my booking has been cancelled and rebooked at another garage national tyres in low fell I know this garage from time gone by Few years ago I said I wouldn’t go back and am not Refund is now being arranged Very very disappointed in Halfords My wife’s car always goes for service and MOT But I will fine another service station out there there's plenty

    not very good im affraid

    not very good im affraid, ordered a chain yesterday online to pickup this morning, sat waiting a couple of hours beyond collection time got an email saying id got a refund, no mention of why, which id assume is they actually didnt have one although their order system showed they did. will not use them again as last time i did i checked they had what i wanted and when i went to collect the instore price was vastly different to online

    Halfords Beware

    I have used National Tyres, Berkhampsted for many years for tyre replacement and never had issues. The 2 tyres were fitted and front wheel tracking done on my Ford Ka +,whilst waiting I received a call from National tyres and was told my front pads and discs need changing and was quoted £576 to replace but email quote was £499. When I questioned why so expensive I was told it's because the car has vented discs I replied I had my discs and pads changed at VW with OEM parts cheaper than that and they replied we use Brembo pads and discs I've been on Euro car parts and can get Brembo pads and discs delivered for £170 so Halfords charge nearly £330 labour to fit them. Obviously I declined the quote. When I received my receipt and quote this is when I found out National tyres had been taken over by Halfords!! After 2 weeks the TPMS light came up on dash and found one of the new tyres was losing pressure. As the Berkhampsted branch had shutdown during this time I had to go to Halfords in Hemel Hempstead where tyre was checked and was told valve was leaking but they had no replacement to fit. After a few days I contacted Halfords to book car in for valve replacement but was told I need the TPMS sensor as well which will be around £100 bearing in mind I was informed by technician said it was just valve I said no thanks. Went to a local tyre centre who checked sensor which was fine and had just the valve changed. I feel Halfords have tried to rip me off and will never return for anything.

    Our family have been a regular customer…

    Our family have been a regular customer to Halfords for many years. Last year on 16/01/24 we bought a new car battery from your store in Hemel Hempstead. The 1st 6 months we had no issues with it but later we’ve started charging the new battery every week at least twice. We’ve switched off everything in the car to engine only and the problem continued. I took the car after months off suffering to a mechanic to assist us with the issue. After a proper check and money spent from our end for this technical check, was found that the battery is faulty.The mechanic spoke to Mercedes office and they said this specific battery is not reliable and they stopped using it. After many discussions and diagnostics we,ve decided to return the product for refund. The Mercedes mechanic replaced the faulty battery with new one which was recommended. This cost us months of stress and money. At Hemel Halfords manager called Mark asked to do a test of the old battery which showed faulty battery. We’ve requested a print off the test but he said they had no paper to print it.After all clear prove that we need refund for this faulty product, the manager refused and became very rude. He offered us the same brand battery but we refused. We did not need to have another one of the same, our battery problem was already solved and new battery replaced at the garage. Trying to explain ourselves and the situation has become more complicated and the manager refused to service us and no refund was offered. He insisted to give us battery and no refund and explained that Halford never pays back refunds to anyone. We’re very disappointed with this customer service and hoping you can help with this issue. We clearly asking for refund and no other product. This is not resolved as per their policies on Halford website. Called the Customer care team the next day and they continued to offer me a new battery which we clearly don't need .We’ve felt humiliated by all this for the fact of being loyal customers.

    Disgusting service

    I took my sons bike in after damage and was quoted £450 to repair the bike was £320 new! After a very arrogant exchange with the young men on the bike area, who could only repeat that it was their opinion and if the wasn’t happen to contact the customer service team. Customer service is not their thing in store or online. An email telling me they stood by the store and I should seek an independent opinion. Which I did from a reputable store who quoted and fixed the bike for £140. Massive difference. I since email Halfords again and haven’t had a reply. Disgusting service will not be going back.

    An order for home delivery

    I placed an order with Halfords on Thursday due to be dalivered by Tuesday at the latest my order never arrived so I rang they advised me I had to wait for up to 72 hours for someone to ring me as they have a backlog terrible service will not buy from them again

    Brilliant job

    Brilliant job. used the halfords mobile fitting service for the first time for an aircon regas. The two men who came and completed this job were amazing very helpful, got the job done in no time very recommended.

    Never buy a bike with Halfords

    My experience with Halfords has been the worst I have ever experienced. I purchased a bike with the premium cycle care plan. Part of this package is a discount to insurance for the bike. However, within the confirmation email, Halfords instruct that you have to wait 30 days for the link. As a result, my bike was not insured for these 30 days - within which the bike was stolen. I have phoned and emailed Halfords several times regarding this. I have been ignored 9 times out of 10. Not even an acknowledgement. When I have been spoken to - it’s been a rude and unpleasant experience. I have had to explain to Halfords staff what the cycle care scheme even is. I have never had such an unpleasant experience and ignored to this level. I would never shop with Halfords again after this level of customer service. It is Halfords fault I was not given the link to insurance sooner (as per the premium care plan).

    HALFORDS RIPOFF

    It's completely outrageous and a ripoff that you go to your garage on a recommendation, tell them the problem is the connection to the rear brake / indicator , its dodgy, can they sort an have a look , but insist you HAVE TO BE TAKEN FOF A RIDE AND HAVE TO a POINTLESS EXPENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC test regardless. And it was the connections was dodgy . That's the 1st an last time I use you SHARKS .RIPOFF

    Dealing with a puncture…

    I had 4 new tyres fitted by you in April but unluckily, got a puncture in one of them in June. The young man that dealt with me at your Orpington branch was superb in dealing with me. I don't know if his name was Leonard or Wayne both names are on the invoice, I was able to watch him repair the tyre and he explained every step he was doing, which was fascinating. This guy is an asset to you. I felt reassured about the puncture in a virtually new tyre and I would definitely go back to this branch. If there had been an opportunity for me to add a service charge when paying I would have added it, such was the way I felt about it. Rob

    Cowboy outfit that cannot even spell customer service

    Purchased a bike. Duty Manager at Chingford told me he would let me know when ready and I would have seven days to collect (they call that customer service). No information was provided. When I contacted them they blythly told me it was ready two days ago and I now had only five days to collect (customer service again). Halfords claim to pride themselves on their service (that means service to the CEO's bonus not to customers). I will never shop at this cowboy outfit again.
