We always use GO for a hire car when travelling to NZ. This was our 6th time using the company. I recommend hiring a car from GO. We often hire the Mitsubishi ASX because they are great on fuel economy and just an all round nice smooth car to drive. Plenty of space for myself and wife and our luggage.
A great rental company. Efficient service, great use of technology with their app. Clean vehicle and easy check in and out processes. And they have an on-site pick up at Queenstown airport which is handy.
We had a great experience with GO Rentals Christchurch from beginning to end and would definitely recommend to others looking for a local NZ company with friendly staff, good service & reasonable prices. We will definitely book with GO Rentals again next time we visit. Everything was above-board (unlike some of their dodgy competitors that we have dealt with in the past). The GO Rentals website & app was easy to use & made the process very efficient & straightforward. The staff we spoke to on the phone were friendly & super helpful. We didn't even have to wait very long for their free shuttle to take us from / to the airport. The car hire cost was quite reasonable in comparison to other companies. We decided to go with the middle tier of insurance (GO Assured) which included roadside assistance, reduced the excess to $500 & meant that we didn't have to pay a bond up front. Compared to other companies, the insurance options they offered were pretty good value as we wanted some coverage without having to pay a fortune for it. It was also good to have the staff clearly explain all the conditions when we picked up the car so we knew exactly what we were and were not covered for. The car we hired (Toyota Corolla hatchback) matched exactly what was advertised on their website. The car itself was relatively new & in very good condition with GPS, bluetooth & all the safety features we wanted.

I have used Go Rentals for a number of years and always had the most professional & helpful service from the staff. The vehicles are well maintained and the whole booking/pickup & drop off experience is extremely seemless. Will continue to use them whenever I am in New Zealand.

Apart from the very competitive price & nice car, picking up & dropping off the car went very smoothly with no delays.
Our rental experience on the south Island was smooth and effective. Unfortunately this was not the case during our north Island rental. Pick up was unremarkable but drop off was complicated by the fact that our vehicle was hit in a parking lot while we were exploring the aquarium. The staff seemed unsure of the process of how to document the damage, the length of time that the repair receipt would take to come in, or who to contact if there was issues. The employee we dealt with was frankly rude to us and two of his coworkers while we were there. Ultimately $3000 was charged immediately with plan to refund based on how much it costed to fix the car. After five weeks of not hearing about any partial refund, we needed to contact GoRental on several occasions without an email or call back. Thankfully we finally got the receipt and there are reports of repairs on parts of the vehicle that did not sustain any damage. Overall was an unfortunate end to our otherwise fantastic New Zealand trip, especially considering the damage was not caused by ourselves. Edited May 11/25 Additional charges made to our card 3 months after returning the car, without discussion. Additional charges included parts not damaged by us. When I emailed them, it was made out to have been a favor that we got the initial charges sorted out 4 weeks after dropping the car off and there was no acknowledgement that we had pictures of pre-existing damage to the fixed areas that we were charged for. Later told we would be contacted by the Auckland branch and of course we not. Overall communication with this company has been an absolute nightmare. 3 months of a headache after holidays for a fender bender we didn't cause. Steer clear of this company.

I regularly travel to NZ and always use Go Rentals Auckland Airport. This time I had the keys within 5 minutes of walking in the door. I check in online, always get the vehicle I request. I go the $0 excess for peace of mind. Vehicles are spotless and full of fuel. The dropoff process is insanely easy (drive in the dropoff lane, leave keys in car, petrol receipt in car, collect luggage, walk in say hi and wait for shuttle, toilets inside) The staff are always friendly. Busy but efficient. When waiting for the shuttle the PINK Go Rental shuttle bus is the one you want to look out for. I wish Australia and the Uk car hires were as seamless. Seriously it is too easy. And reading some of the negative reviews here its obvious that some customers should not be hiring cars in the first place if they cannot follow simple instructions. However I think each answer from the company is professional. I'll be back, my business will be back. Thanks to the airport team, see you in December. Jen W (may 2025)
Very easy process 👌
AVOID - ripped us off, didn’t accept our credit card despite being a standard MasterCard credit card leaving us with a choice of cancelling our rental with no refund or paying $300 for overpriced insurance. The car provider also had no radio, Bluetooth or sat nav as promised in the description online due to internal damage to the vehicle.
Easy, great counter service and good value
I made a booking with GO Rentals on 27 February for a rental starting 13 May, but I cancelled it on 16 April, giving them almost a month’s notice. You’d think that would make the refund process simple but it’s been a complete nightmare. As of May 6, I still haven’t received my refund, and I’m still chasing them just to get a response. It’s been over three weeks since I cancelled, and more than 10 business days yet I’ve received no refund and no real help. What makes this worse is that I’d had a great experience with GO Rentals in the past, which is why I trusted them again. But after this, I’ve completely lost confidence in their service. The way they’ve handled this has been unprofessional, stressful, and incredibly disappointing. I won’t ever use GO Rentals again and I recommend others look elsewhere.
No non slip cover ver at their shuttles. I have many flights with my suitcases. American traveler good suitcase brand survive many flights except go car rentals airport shuttle. The company do nothing to improve their service. Drivers are rude. The removed my review with photos from their website.
We had a very good Travel from Christchurch to Auckland with the car, low fuel consumption and no Problems during 23 days. Liked it very much
Go rentals was a good experience. We hired the car for 15 days and was perfect for a family of 4 on long road trip. Easy pick up and drop off too.
Wonderful experience with a really nice vehicle. Close to airport so no need for a shuttle made it very quick and efficient for pickup and return Recomended
