This is possibly the worst service…

This is possibly the worst service I’ve ever received from any company. On a trip to Italy our car broke down 3 hours after pick up on a journey from Milan to Lake Garda. These things happen. The car was recovered but could not be prepared. The company would only provide a replacement if we made it back to the airport (almost 3 hours away) to pick one up. They wouldn’t provide a car locally and wouldn’t pay for the journey back. We were stranded and had to rely on public transport for the rest of the trip. Before this point we were told repeatedly that they would find a replacement and call us back. They never did and we were on the phone for hours trying to get through. They have also refused to offer us a refund for the remaining rental because they will only do this in person! This is surely a scam.

Goldcar's hidden IDP condition cost me money and time. Do not use if you are from the UK

I booked a car for Sardinia with Goldcar via Holiday Autos. I booked a few weeks ahead, but when I arrived in Sardinia GoldCar told me I had to have an International Driver's Permit as UK is outside the EU. THIS IS NOT THE LAW; gov.uk says IDPs are not required in Europe as part of Brexit agreement. Holiday Autos did not know this- with their T&Cs clearly stating an IDP was not required. They offered me a refund or to rebook with another company at current rates, which would have cost an additional ~£270 for the week. I rebooked to Noleggiare via Discover Cars for cheaper, but Goldcar's unpublished conditions and Holiday Autos' mistake still cost me a further £180 and time needed to rebook. DO NOT USE GOLDCAR IF YOU ARE FROM THE UK, there are plenty of affordable other providers who don't make up unnecessary and costly conditions.

DES VOLEURS !!!!!

DES VOLEURS !!!!! Location d'une renault capture quasi neuve 2500km (aeroport de faro au portugal) A la remise des clefs l'agent fait à peine le tour du véhicule. Je constate avec lui que la voiture n'a pas de griffe particulière. Au retour pas de vérification puisque nous rendons la voiture à 4h du matin et que l'agence est encore fermé (nous déposons les clefs comme convenue dans une boîte aux lettres. 2h plus tard je reçois un mail avec une photo avec un coup insignifiant que je n'ai pas vu à la remise des clefs dans un recoin du pzre choque arrière. Je suis évidemment sur et certain que j'ai eu le véhicule comme cela. Trop tard je me suis fais arnaqué d'une partie de ma caution sans avoir un mot à dire !!!! je précise que je loue chaque année un véhicule en vacances, c'est la première fois que je me fais avoir comme un bleu !!!!

Si on pouvait mettre 0 étoile, je le ferai ! 2h30 de retard sur la prise en charge du véhicule, aucun employé disponible pour nous accompagner vérifier l'état du véhicule avant la prise en charge et jante de la voiture endommagée à notre arrivée. L'entreprise nie en bloc que le dégât constaté à notre retour était présent au départ en justifiant qu'aucun employé n'a constaté le dégât de lui-même, alors que nous avons une photo ainsi qu'une vidéo de l'état de la voiture quand nous l'avons récupéré avec le dégât visible. Nous avons fourni toutes les preuves nécessaires avec les dates/heures comme ils l'ont demandé pour nous rendre la caution, mais ils n'en tiennent pas compte et retiennent notre argent. Agence de très mauvaise foi, nous n'allons pas en rester là et payer 175 € pour un dégât que nous n'avons pas commis. Nous avons contacté une association de protection des consommateurs et monté un dossier. Nous engagerons toutes les procédures nécessaires à notre disposition et demanderons des dommages et intérêts à l'encontre de Goldcar en plus du remboursement total de la caution !

Loueur aux pratiques fallacieuses

Après m'avoir immédiatement proposé un supplément d'assurance à mon arrivée au guichet, Goldcar a finalement refusé de me louer le véhicule réservé et payé au prétexte fallacieux qu'ils n'étaient pas en mesure de prélevé la caution sur ma carte Visa Premier. La seule solution proposée était finalement de payer ce supplément d'assurance proposé à mon arrivée avant même d'avoir vu ma carte Visa. Au final j'ai du louer une voiture ailleurs et Goldcar a refusé de me rembourser ma réservation. Des pratiques apparemment courantes chez Goldcar au vu des différents commentaires de clients qui ont subi les mêmes pratiques douteuses.

fraud and disrespect for customer rights

We rented a car with almost scratches everywhere. When I received the car, I pointed out its place in the damage list and asked if this was it. The young employee said yes to the place I showed him and said that there was almost no place without scratches. 5 days later, within 30 minutes of returning back the car, they claimed WITH AN E-MAIL that I did it by marking the side with the biggest scratch on the car, the damage we talked about when we took the car, right away in the damage planning, and they are trying to make me pay for it. The e-mail they sent could not even be answered and it was almost impossible to reach them to explain the situation. Definitely do not rent a car from this company if you want to be respected.

Terrible Experience with Goldcar - Poor Customer Service and Lack of Transparency

I had one of the worst car rental experiences of my life with Goldcar. I booked a car for a road trip in Sicily from May 7 to May 14, 2024 (7 days), paying approximately 340 euros in advance. During the flight to Palermo, I lost my physical credit card necessary for picking up the vehicle, but I had the same credit card virtually ready for payment. Despite this, the Goldcar staff in Palermo categorically refused this option and any alternative forms of payment (debit card, cash, prepaid card), showing a complete lack of empathy and assistance. They didn’t even explain why they could only accept the physical card when they just needed the card number and the cardholder's name (something that the company I eventually used later accepted without issue). I want to emphasize that in no prior communication was this detail mentioned, and I had booked with the KEY&GO option, which supposedly did not require a security deposit. Even here, the clarity in communication was poor since at the counter, they told me I would still need to pay a 100 euro deposit. Despite my repeated complaints and refund requests for a service paid for 7 days, of which I did not even use an hour, Goldcar ignored my messages and did nothing to resolve the situation, continually giving me standard responses without attempting to look into the matter. I lost 340 euros for no reason, and my travel experience was ruined. In the end, I had to turn to another company, SRC, which accepted my virtual card without any problem and allowed me to salvage part of the trip. So, I ended up paying for another rental on top of the one with Goldcar. Goldcar has shown a complete lack of respect for its customers and a significant lack of empathy. I would never recommend this company to anyone and hope others avoid finding themselves in my same situation. Rating: 1 star (if I could, I would give 0 stars)

goldcar rental 2023

Rentedoth goldcar. Did so online through a third party. When we got there they tried to make out we were not insured even though we had bought the most comprehensive insurance possible. I understand booking through a third party they might not know what insurance we have but to say outright we are not insured is not truthful. We also hired a child seat which was broken in such a way it was dangerous. Giving out broken safety equipment for children is unforgivable. Offered no apology and no help to install it. Terrible experience

They've kept my money!

As well as holding on to a large sum of deposit money for the duration of a hire from Palma, Mallorca, they made me pay (over the odds) for the fuel. When I returned the car full of fuel, the deposit was released, but the fuel money was not repaid! Apparently, in the small print, Goldcar can keep it for 28 days. I think that's disgraceful. But...... after 23 more days (51 days in total!), They still have my money! My emails are ignored too!

We hired a car at Bari airport for the East holidays. The process to pick up the car was long and convoluted and the agent tried every possible trick to get us to but their additional insurance. Such old tricks! The car was not ready and when we got it it was not clean and full of additional damages than shown in the rental agreement and didn’t even have a full tank! Fortunately Francesca was very kind and supported us through the process but the company itself was really appalling. Never again.

N GENERAL, EVERYTHING WAS GOOD, BUT THE CAR INSURANCE AND ESPECIALLY THE FULL RISK COVERAGE WAS EXTREMELY INSANE AND BEYOND ALL REASONABLE LIMITS, ALTHOUGH THE EMPLOYEE TRIED WITH VARIOUS TRICKS TO MAKE HER CLOSER TH. WITH 98 EUROS FOR DAYS YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THE 1 INSURANCE TIME COSTS APPROXIMATELY 14000 EUROS. I CONSIDER IT INSANE!!!!!!
