Trash, garbage, go elsewhere. Take your $500 and have a nice dinner, don't waste it here. No testing location within 5 hours of me, no way to contact a human, AI chat useless. Royally pissed.

I paid nearly $800 for functional health testing—including multiple lab visits—only to learn that the lab mishandled my samples and now expects me to come back and repeat the process. I’ve made every effort to reach them—calls, emails, texts, even in-person attempts—and the response? Silence. No call backs. No replies. Nothing. This company takes your money, disappears, and leaves you to deal with their mistakes. There’s absolutely no accountability, no communication, and no access to anyone in management. If something goes wrong—and clearly it can—you’re on your own. Avoid this place. They do not care about your time, your health, or your money. Look elsewhere. Hopefully one of their competitors understands what real customer service looks like.

Stay Away- I did the first two tests more than one month ago. Received a handful of results within the first few days and have not heard anything else since. There is no customer service phone number, and the chat gives you some standard non-sense answers. These folks are way above their head, and the operation is a shamble. They don't have the operational infrastructure to support their business promise. It seems like the only part of the operation they have a handle on is to onboard you and collect your money, but nothing is set up for delivering their part. Don't waste your money.
I canceled my membership online about a week before it was due to renew and today I received a charge on my FSA card for $499! I tried calling the only number I could find for them and it went to voicemail, so I went online (again) and canceled it again - requesting a refund! This company is not what it says it is - you can't even text with a live person, it's all AI generated. BEWARE!
Wait time for test results is approaching 2 months, followed by another 2-3 weeks for clinical notes. I question the accuracy of the results given how long they sit around before being processed. When contacted, customer service is vague and noncommittal. Yet they continue growing the business despite these problems.
Easy to read. WAY to long to get results. You can go direct and get results from almost all of these test by Ultralab or other places in a matter of days. Its unclear to me how and why it takes weeks or months to get some results. Having worked in the lab samples sitting around for so long are suspect to storage issues and chain of custody and degredation
Their customer service is pretty awful. There’s nobody available after 8 o’clock Eastern. They could literally hire customer service in the Philippines for three dollars an hour, but nope. It took 4 days to book bloodwork because their website literally does not work. They also booked me for bloodwork on a random day without any consultation. Just weird and time wasting and frustrating.
Function advertises $499 for 100+ tests. In reality, $499 is the entry price and there is a very long list of add-on tests that quickly drive the cost over $1k. Many of these tests can be ordered by a physician, and covered by insurance. Or they are entirely unnecessary in the first place. Almost anyone who can afford to drop $500-$1k or more on lab tests probably has insurance. It seems like the thing that's actually happening here is that Function wants you to pay to become a patient in their network. That's it. Feels bait-and-switch-y.
Incredibly expensive blood tests. 0 clinical summary or workable results within the timeframe. Not helpful service at all. Waste of money. Look for a local functional doctor vs using this service.
I wanted to like this, but it was kind of a disaster. Firstly, as a female, they make you time the blood draw in a specific window according to your cycle, which makes it very difficult. Cycles are not always exact or predictable, so this was frustrating. Secondly, I was not informed by anything on the site before paying that I would need TWO blood draws, no more than 10 days apart, because they test so many things that they simply can't do it all in one draw. So, after waiting almost a month for my results, I found this out only after connecting with support. The problem is, I live in an area where I have to drive an hour, one way, to get to the lab they partner with. So all of this was a huge hassle. In the end, I asked for a refund, but they didn't even refund me 1/3 of the rate. Finally, the 'doctor's notes' that you receive are clearly AI-generated and don't give you any sort of actual guidance. So, in terms of interpreting and applying the results I did get, it was pretty worthless. I love this concept and was looking for a way to get more in-depth info on my cardiovascluar health, without having to go through primary care, referral to specialist, lab visit etc. My primary driver was convenience and this was the opposite of that.
The platform is great and the idea behind the business is great. But customer service is almost unbearable! I need to repeat 4 times my simple request of getting a copy of Anytime Tests which I ordered to retest the out-of-range markers from my annual test! So far I have not got a copy of the Anytime Tests after numerous tries. The customer service team do not read well and do not think at all! It is an absolute shame that such low quality service is being rendered for a high-tech leader in the healthcare industry! There should be a phone number for us to call and a way for us to escalate our complaints instead of dealing with idiotic reps via texting for weeks! Will not recommend the service if the customer service does not employ people who can read and think!
Absolutely terrible scheduling platform. Ridiculous. Non existent customer service. Very limited testing site availability.
I've been a Function Health customer since 2023 and I can't overstate the value of having baseline levels for important biomarkers with graphs to determine if something is trending up or down. Many of the blood tests that are run every year would never be permitted by insurance and if you paid out of pocket individually for these tests I imagine the cost would be much much higher than the $500 yearly price Function charges. I love having access to information about all the various organs in my body as well as nutrient/vitamin and hormone levels.
Function Health is heavily advertised on social media. I've seen many ads on Facebook. Their basic service is $500 for a comprehensive set of tests which measure a variety of different "biomarkers." This is how they describe it: "100+ lab tests and insights from top doctors." I'll start with the positive first. The results are posted online for you in an easy to read format that includes a comprehensive report about the state of your health. They even provide you with suggestions for next steps to take to improve your health. I'm not sure where those "insights from top doctors" come in! Perhaps they're incorporated into the report. I'm quite sure that there are no doctors personally looking at your results! And now the reason why I gave Function Health just 3 stars. Their customer service is somewhere between mediocre and abysmal. First of all, they don't offer any phone support. $500 is a lot of money to spend not to be able to speak to anyone on the phone! They have text support (through a web form) but, in my experience, the quality of that support varies greatly! I've spent the last few days chatting with several people--but not in real time--about what I thought were some pretty basic questions. When they're not flat out ignoring my questions, they often can't seem to grok what I'm asking. The questions I've posed are very basic! Out of frustration I turned to ChatGPT and got a perfectly lucid, easy-to-follow answer to my query. When I posted the results, in a follow-up question, to confirm that they were accurate, they completely ignored the question! When I say the chats are not in real time, I mean that I may have to wait 12 hours or more for a reply. And, as I pointed out, that reply, especially as of late, often doesn't even address my questions! I've asked repeatedly if I could please talk to someone; but they just keep reiterating that they only do support through chat and text. As for the actual testing, it mostly happens through Quest Diagnostics. Apparently there are many locations around the country but, as the popularity of Function Health surges, they are often staffed by over burdened phlebotomists. In other words, it's like a blood drawing assembly line. That being said, my experience was okay since I was aware of this going into it and tried to bring some lightness to the interaction (which helped). So, in summary, I'd give Function Health an A for the end result (the comprehensive report), a C+ for the actual testing (mostly blood drawing), and a D for customer service. UPDATE: After repeated attempts to get my questions answered, Ashlyn reached out to me. She was very helpful and apologetic. She provided me a number where I could text the company with future queries and also mentioned that she'd passed on my feedback about the poor customer service I experienced. Hopefully, this will help them to improve their communication and provide a more timely method of getting help! Full Disclosure (about the link above): I get a kickback if you decide to sign up for it. Obviously, an honest review is more important to me than hyping the company for a fast buck! But, as you can tell from reading my review, I do value the end result, even if their customer service could be improved. There are alternatives to Function Health with better customer service but the ones that I found were over $1000 dollars, some of them into the thousands of dollars.
I’ve appreciated Function Health. They delivered all the tests as promised and pricing was good. I hadn’t been feeling well, no help from the regular doctor, so tried this. I chose an add-on test to check for Lead and discovered my level was 10 times what was considered safe. My only problem with FH is customer service. They started out with phone support, now only chat and it just takes too long to get help. It’s frustrating. I guess the net benefit remains in the plus column but I’d think twice about renewing. I wish they could do better in this category.. Update: I received a prompt customer service response this time. I do think Function Health offers a reasonably priced way to get deeper insights into health. It certainly goes well beyond the superficial testing available through traditional medicine.
I am disappointed with how lab results and related information are shared and organized. While I value the insights the functionhealth platform provides, it has significant obstacles that limit its effectiveness. 1. Difficulty Sharing Results with Physicians There is no easy way for me to share my lab results, with your accompanying notes, with my various physicians other than providing them with a PDF. You do not provide my physicians access to the results via platforms like MyChart or Quest, which complicates the sharing process. Without an accessible, organized ONLINE system for my doctors to view and interact with my result, I fear I will not receive the level of guidance and assistance I need. Without online access my doctors cannot see trends. 2. Organization of Lab Results The results provided are not organized in a clear or intuitive manner. I find it difficult to interpret the layout, and I believe my physicians would feel the same. I had one blood draw but have three pdfs! A more user-friendly format or a summary dashboard tailored for healthcare professionals could help bridge this gap. 3. Delays in Test Availability I am disappointed that the OmegaCheck test has been delayed for six months. I was hoping to review this data sooner as part of my current health assessment. 4. Lack of Physician Integration When your report lists recommendations, such as six potential supplements to reduce fibrinogen, I am advised to consult my healthcare provider. However, without an accessible platform for them to view my data in an interactive and organized way, I am left to manage these decisions on my own. Do I get all six?? This undermines the purpose of the service, which I assume is to facilitate informed, collaborative care. Suggestions for Improvement Physician Access: Create an option for physicians to access patient results online, similar to (ideally on) platforms like Quest or MyChart. This could include secure logins for ongoing access. Improved Organization: Redesign the presentation of lab results to be more intuitive and actionable, perhaps with physician-friendly summaries or decision-support tools. Faster Test Availability: Work on reducing delays for critical tests like OmegaCheck to ensure timely insights. Patient Support: Offer resources or consultations for patients who cannot rely on their physicians to act on the data provided. Feedback: There is little opportunity to provide feedback other than by chat or a closed-type questionnaire. That's why I am this site -- because I can't get through to functionhealth. Closing Thoughts While functionhealth offers valuable information, the current limitations make it challenging to fully integrate these insights into my healthcare. I believe addressing the above issues would significantly enhance the platform’s usability.
This is what I’ve always been searching for. I can finally understand what’s happening inside my body and what to do about it. Can’t believe I didn’t sign up sooner truly an amazing service. Realized that I needed to change my diet after this, and I’ve had so much more energy since making those changes. Thank you function!
I gifted this and the recipient only got 25 test results in spite of Function's promise to test 100 markers. Customer Service is non existent. I've reached out by chat, the only means available, and no response from the company. In one instance they told the patient they can't do the test because of volume, perhaps related to some sort of vendor issue. And the founders and celebrity funders continue to peddle this on social media. The product is clearly not ready for market. And is ripping off people who are drowning in the useless healthcare system and desperately searching for answers. These people should be ashamed that they're not delivering for the community they claim they're trying to help.
