Dell Replaces With REFURBISHED Parts Which Have a Reduced Warranty (And Won't Tell You)

Please note that if your Dell computer runs into technical difficulties such that it needs to be sent to the Dell Repair Depot, they will fix it with REFURBISHED parts, not advertising they are doing so and this will significantly reduce the warranty to 90 days.  My computer was recently overheating, crashing, and the battery was not lasting long. I sent the computer to be fixed and paid for what I thought was a new battery. It cost the same amount as their advertised new batteries, the information that I consented to for the replacement had no indication that it was refurbished, and I thought all is well. NOPE! 100 days later, my computer is experiencing the same issues and to my absolute surprise was informed I need a new battery. "How? I just replaced it..." I thought. I then looked online and said, "Okay, your batteries are advertising a 1-year warranty, so you will fix this free of charge". NOPE! Because they (unknowingly to me) replaced it with a REFURBISHED battery it is thus only covered for 90 days and I will have to pay again out of pocket.  After going back and fourth over several days spending hours running the same diagnostics and speaking to all levels of Dell support workers and management in what I can only describe as a "milk run/ string along" situation, no one has been able to justify to me why my battery was replaced with a refurbished part instead of a new one which I thought I was paying for. No one will replace the battery free of cost or reimburse me for the misinformation either.  I also feel I should mention that after sending my computer in for repairs, it came back worse than before (the trackpad was not working), so I had already had to send it in once before. The scrolling is still not 100%.  Not happy with their system. Feel completely manipulated and want to ensure people are made aware and don't spend their hard earned money on this slimy trap.  Thanks for reading.

Wrost technical support that I have ever seen.

Worst Tech Support Experience Ever, Dell Should Be Ashamed If I could give zero stars, I would. I've had nothing but a nightmare dealing with Dell’s technical and customer support. After one remote session and TWO mail-in repairs, my laptop STILL runs like it's stuck in 2005, slow, unresponsive, and nowhere near the performance I paid for. What’s even more maddening? Every time I contact support, they just have me repeat the same useless tests over and over. It's like talking to a brick wall. They clearly don’t read the case history or care about resolving the issue. It's a never-ending loop of “try this diagnostic tool” or “reinstall drivers”, things I've done a dozen times already. Dell, your support system is broken, and your customer care is nonexistent. I’ve wasted weeks of my time and still don’t have a working machine. Never buying Dell again.

HORRIFIC!!!!!!

HORRIFIC!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY A DELL COMPUTER!!!!!!! I purchased a Dell computer 3 months ago for $1,300. Nothing but issues with it and Dell tech support is as useless as their customer service. They have sent their satellite repair company to my business several times, I have spent numerous hours on a screenshare with Dell tech service doing the same exact diagnostic sequences each time, total of 12 times. 2 weeks ago they sent me a shipping label and box to send the computer back to them so they could repair it at their corporate location. Just got it back and it still continues to have the same utterly slow issues.......... Xfinity and our IT company have both stated the issue is with this computer as well as we have 12 other computers in this office, all on an ethernet connection, yet no one else has these issues. They can’t fix the issue but won’t replace the unit either.... The amount of time I have lost due to this is ridiculous and Dell simply does not care. I have also emailed their corporate office with not 1 response back from them.... Dont walk away from a Dell product, RUN!!!

Cancelled Order and no refund yet

Cancelled Order and no refund yet They cancelled my laptop order and its going to be almost a month since I initiated the service request for my refund and I am yet to get my money back. Cannot call the dutch customer service line for some reason and the email support has left for much to be desired with their standard we will look into this and get back to you. and after that all they do is close the case hoping you forget that you ever paid them. Distressing and frustrated with my experience with Dell.

Horrendous Devices

I set up around 2-3 Dell laptops a week as part of my job. I have nothing but issues with the Windows Updates, often resulting in Windows having to be re-installed, and becomes a 2 day task. This is not something that I have experienced, this often, on any other manufacturers devices. PLEASE avoid Dell if you have a choice.

Their Technical support is pointless…

Their Technical support is pointless and will lead you to rethink your life choices after spending 4 hour speaking to 6 people because their phone system disconnects you over and over and no one will call you back. I had plenty of complaints about their "support"...and some about the bloatware... but NOW I have an bigger once. After 4 years and 37 days ownership of my Dell Inspiron Desktop, it wouldn't boot up. First it got to screen giving recovery options and then it failed and every time I tried to power it up, it went dead in 2 to 4 seconds. I tried all the basic stuff and there was a suggestion to remove the coin cell battery on the mother board to reset the bios... but not to check the battery as those 2032 batteries last for 15 to 20 years... Well I checked the battery and it was DEAD...totally dead...I put in a new battery and it worked perfectly. So Dell put in some CRAP battery and had my PC die after 4 years. Never heard of a 2032 lasting so short...PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE... 95% of people would have taken their PC in to pay huge money to find out it as a cheap battery under $1 causing the issue, or they would have bought a new PC.... CRAP!

Ordered on Friday with a Monday…

Ordered on Friday with a Monday delivery anticipated. Received my new PC on Monday am! My new pc greatly excedded my expectation in all areas. Keep in mind that this is the 6th Dell I have owned. My new pc had the ability to go back to the replaced Dell pc and ported all my contacts, info and business material into it. While this may not inpressed you consider the fact that my pc is used for futures trading daily. The Ninja Trader program is encompassing in data requirements and pc horsepower. EVERYTHING was automatically trasfered without a error. I am a happy Dell customer!!!!!

My XPS laptop went on fire

My XPS laptop went on fire. There was a known heating issue (which Dell denied), yet at a later date released an update. The fan would never turn on and as a result the laptop would over heat. This eventually led to my laptop going on fire. This was under warranty and dell never honoured that even. They just delayed and delayed response after response until the warranty passed.

Dell desktops often came with defects

Dell desktops often came with defects, getting them to help resolve the issues are also often very slow and unresponsive. It's a huge pain especially because their builds are proprietary too so you can't easily get it fixed yourself or elsewhere. This will be the last time I buy a computer from them.

DO NOT PAY FOR EXPEDITED SHIPPING!!!

Their expedited shipping is not expedited! The computer I ordered works as advertised and I have no issues with it. My issue is that I paid $52 for expedited shipping on 5 June and it was supposed to be delivered on 7June. Keep in mind, that free shipping had it being delivered on 10 June. I received the computer on 9 June. One day ahead of free shipping, and they refused to refund the expedited shipping cost of $52, and didn't deliver as advertised.

I ordered a Dell laptop on May 14

I ordered a Dell laptop on May 14, and it was misdelivered on May 22 — not even to the correct address. Dell admitted fault and promised a replacement, but instead of resolving the issue quickly, they gave me a new delivery date of June 24. That’s over a month after full payment — completely unacceptable. What made this worse was the constant lies from Dell’s technical support. I called nearly every day, and every single time they told me the replacement was being expedited and would ship “tomorrow.” But that never happened. It's just a script they repeat to buy time while doing nothing. Dell doesn't just fail to deliver products. They waste your time, ignore your frustration, and show zero accountability. If you want to be lied to, ignored, and left waiting for over a month for what you paid for in full, Dell is your guy. Otherwise, save your sanity. Go to Best Buy and get an HP Victus or anything else — at least you’ll walk away with your product and your dignity.

If you're into stress

If you're into stress, confusion, and disappointment, then buy Dell. I placed an order last Wednesday for a laptop and screen, lured in by the promise of next-day delivery. Fast forward a week, and guess what? Still no laptop. It's like a tech-themed treasure hunt, except there's no treasure—just endless phone calls and frustration. We're now on day five of my delightful new morning ritual: calling Dell, being put on hold, and being reassured that someone, somewhere is looking into it. Riveting stuff. Honestly, if you enjoy unreliable service and feeling like a nuisance for expecting the bare minimum, Dell is your dream company. For everyone else: do yourself a favour—walk into your local PC World, get what you need, and leave with your sanity intact.
