Our experience with Conveyancing Direct was a total letdown. It felt like we were completely in the dark, especially as first-time buyers, thanks to their lousy communication. Going through the complaints process, we were constantly brushed off, pretty much putting all of the blame on us for not magically understanding a process we hired them to guide us through. One of the most frustrating things was receving all of the crucial documents we needed, including the fixture and fittings form, DAYS before exchanging. Most of these documents were dated four months prior to this but apparently that's completely normal to be unaware of the details of the house you are buying until it's too late? I know solicitors are typically slow and require you to chase a lot, but when the company are failing to reply to complaints within their own 'prescribed time frame', you know something is wrong. And when they eventually did, they managed to send it to the wrong email addresses entirely - superb attention to detail. If you are purchasing through Connells and have been connected to this company, don't do it. Just Google a well-reviewed local solicitors and use them. Our sellers were also using Conveyancing Direct and we thought it would make the whole process smoother, but I don't think they were handled by the same office, let alone the same team/person. And if they were, I have absolutely no idea how they can manage it so poorly as the reason we were forced to exchange so quickly at the end of the process was due to how frustrated the seller was with them too. There's plenty more we could mention, but in short: avoid them at all costs. The endless bad reviews speak for themselves.

I truly appreciate the time you've spent answering my calls and guiding me, no matter how many times I reached out. Your patience, professionalism, and steadfast commitment have made a significant impact, and I’m genuinely grateful for everything you've done. Thanks again for everything! This review goes out for Tom Mclaren-Roberts. From mr and mrs Momoh
Tom was fantastic. Very responsive, explained things clearly, was chasing everything all the time. Conveyancing time was fast
I am currently having to deal with this Company due to my remortgage with Cambridge Building Society. I’ve never dealt with such a rude and unprofessional company. All they want to do is charge you for work you are having to do yourself to try and complete! Myself and my broker have already fed this back to Cambridge BS and hope, especially during these times, no one else has to deal with such a company.
I used Conveyancing Direct (St Leonards-on-Sea) to handle the sale of my late parents house, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for better support. Carwyn, who managed my case, was absolutely fantastic throughout what turned out to be a very drawn-out process - largely due to the buyers’ first solicitors being completely inept. Carwyn was proactive, efficient, and incredibly reliable. If something needed doing, it was already done. If something needed sending, it was sent immediately. There were zero delays on my side, and that peace of mind made a stressful time much more bearable. It felt like I had someone truly in my corner - someone who cared and made sure everything was handled properly and promptly. In a world where good service often goes unrecognised, this experience was a breath of fresh air. I can’t rate Conveyancing Direct highly enough. If you're looking for a solicitor who gets things done and genuinely supports you through the process, ask for Carwyn.
I have used this company a few times for conveyancing and I have to say they have always provided a top class service. There response to enquiry are timely, accurate and clear, they always provide really clear and concise advice. I had the pleasure of working with Claudia on the last house sale I had and she is top class.
As the nominated advocate acting on behalf of the buyer, my experience with Solicitors Direct—particularly with Gemma Daintree—was both frustrating and unprofessional from the very beginning. During my initial phone call, I clearly explained my role in the purchase. Gemma immediately dismissed my nomination, claiming the buyer had not submitted the required form. In fact, all forms had been properly completed and uploaded by the buyer, but had not been correctly processed by Conveyancing Direct. When I pointed out that the documents were visible in the portal, Gemma responded that the portal “shouldn’t be relied on” and was not kept up to date—this, despite it being the very tool provided for buyers to track the progress of their property purchase. Gemma’s manner throughout was consistently rude and obstructive, making effective collaboration extremely difficult and adding unnecessary stress to the process. The transaction began on 18th February 2025 and did not complete until 29th May 2025. This completion date was only achieved due to relentless chasing and pressure from my side. At one point, I had to research the company's internal hierarchy and escalate the matter directly to her line manager. Once escalated, actions were taken immediately—suggesting the work had been ready and simply awaiting attention. At every turn, I was left to chase updates and seek clarity, as communication was poor and timelines were either unclear or ignored. My efforts to advocate for the buyer were frequently met with resistance instead of cooperation, which only served to create delays and friction in an already time-sensitive process. Given the vital role a solicitor plays in ensuring a smooth and efficient property transaction, the level of service received in this instance fell well below acceptable standards. I would not recommend Solicitors Direct under any circumstances—and would actively discourage others from using their services
My experience with Solicitors Direct was highly disappointing, particularly due to the conduct of Gemma Daintree. From the outset, her manner was consistently rude and unhelpful, which made an already stressful process even more frustrating. The conveyancing process began on 18th February 2025 and was only concluded on 29th May 2025—an outcome that was achieved solely through persistent chasing on my part. At every stage, I found myself needing to "nip at the heels" of Gemma just to ensure the sale progressed in a timely manner. Communication was poor throughout, with no sense of urgency or proactive engagement. To make matters worse, Gemma made interactions with my nominated advocate unnecessarily difficult, further hindering the process and adding to the overall inefficiency. This experience fell far short of the professional service one should expect when dealing with such a significant matter. Based on this, I cannot recommend Solicitors Direct. I am trying to look for positives, but the cost was the same as other providers, so this was just a poor service, backed up by a poor attitude representing the team. Work needs to be done on the customer facing team!
I have just sold a property in Newport, and had the great pleasure of Sara Costas doing my legal work.. Sara has been amazing throughout the whole process, and I can’t thank her enough…. Her knowledge and professionalism has been outstanding…… Keep up the amazing work Sara …… Best wishes in the future…. Paul 🙏🙏
The worst Solcitors we have ever experienced please avoid at all costs no updates the slowest service known to mankind no compassion I cannot believe they get any sales through please if you want a house sale through don’t use these cowboys they will make you mentally ill and not give a damm no one cares about their customers in this company they should not be allowed to deal with peoples lives and properties!!!
We have just brought our first house with the help of property lawyer Emily Briers. She was very helpful and always quick to respond, making the process nice and smooth! Would recommend Conveyancing Direct to others!
Extremely slow on acting on everything. Will never use them or have dealings in future with anyone using them. There should be a law to protect the public from a firm as bad as this. Do not use for conveyancing
Just bought my new house with great help from Jess who kept me updated all the time the whole way from start to finish. Told me what i needed to check and all the things you need to know about buying a house which i had no clue of.Just once again a very BIG THANK YOU to Jess for all her help.
Recommended by our estate agent and it was the worst mistake we ever made. Took 5 1/2 months the for our sale and over 4 months for our purchase. Communication was non existent despite asking for updates. We were relocating 100 miles so had lots of logistics to plan and we just kept getting told nothing is guaranteed. They did not work to any timeframe and we ended up in an AirB&B due to so many delays. They didn’t seem bothered if our sale or purchase completed and were quite happy for it to collapse. Almost cost us our move and cost us a fortune due to missing the stamp duty deadline, temporary accommodation and lost salary. Asked for things that had been sent months ago and didn’t seem to know what was happening most of the time. Do not use at any cost it was the worst and most stressful experience we have ever had.
My solicitor, Christopher Arnold`s service was exemplary. He kept me up to date with proceedings even when the other side dragged their feet. His patience with my persistent questions was remarkable and the effort he put in to expedite proceedings admirable. I would not hesitate to recommend Conveyancing Direct. Richard T

He was Excellent with communication and quickly responded our emails throughout the entire process. Even with a few issues here and there the whole process took 4 months and was way before the what we planned to complete. Overall, I’m content with the services I received from Conveyancing Direct.

Many reviewers praise the exceptional support provided by solicitors like Tom Mclaren-Roberts and Sara Costas, noting their responsiveness and clear communication throughout the conveyancing process. Positive experiences often emphasize timely updates and a smooth transaction, particularly for first-time buyers. However, a substantial number of complaints point to poor communication and unprofessional behavior from certain staff members, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction. Customers express disappointment with slow service and a lack of updates, which detracts from the overall experience. While some clients have had positive interactions, the negative reviews suggest that potential customers should proceed with caution.
