Nice cabin but so expensive
Nice cabin, staff friendly but it's pr7ce gouging at its finest. Gratuity before you leave, added to every bill and extra to wanted to. Internet 45 dollars a day. Was thinking of doing another cruise but not now.

Flew to Athens and on Celebrity Infinity for 10 nights, 2nd - 12th February 2024. Arrived at Heathrow Airport to be told by Aegean Airlines that we had no luggage for the hold. Booked a package and as we were going on a cruise, you would expect this to be included. Had to pay 45 euros each. There were about 40 - 50 people that this affected. On arriving at Athens Airport at 3.30am, there was no one there, for our onward journey. We were all left sitting at the airport until approx 9.30am, when someone arrived to tell us that the coach to take us to the ship would arrive in the next 30 minutes or so. WHAT A TOTAL SHAMBLES AND NOT A GOOD START TO THE CRUISE. After visiting Guest Relations onboard, this was sorted a couple of days later. The refund was given as onboard credit. I had $100 onboard credit at time of booking. This was showing on my account on Day 1, but then it disappeared. Another few trips to Guest Relations before this was sorted. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!! After being told that the luggage on the return flight was sorted, on arrival at the airport we were told that no luggage was included... Again, another 45 euros to pay. There were two different flights, and Celebrity had sorted the later flight, but not ours. On contacting Celebrity, the man that I spoke to was rude and not helpful. He tried telling me that my $100 credit that had been put back onto my account was for the luggage cost. I sent the proof of payment and a refund was given six days later. I sent two emails and not once, did I get any response. Very poor customer service from Celebrity. Only when I called them again, was I told that the refund had been arranged. The lady was very apologetic, and said that my feedback would be passed on. Whether it has or not, I will never know. I would not recommend Celebrity Cruises to anyone due to this.
Paid for Aquaclass on Celebrity Edge so we could dine at Blu restaurant. The food was very average and pretty well to the same standard of the free restaurants. Had to queue up some nights to get a table. The entertainment on the ship was average. The Martini bar was dull and an awkward setup. Most of the restaurants had the same meals on the menu. All of the Music in the venues had been reworked to the same tempo which was annoying after a while. Plus the amount of money we had to pay extra from Aud to US was crazy. We spent $400 Aud over our package and ended up paying $600 once converted to US dollars. I also prepaid for a game but I never got the chance to play it. It cost me $118 I asked for a refund and got $86 back due to exchange rate. We were expecting a classy cruise but we were disappointed. Never again….
Good food, great cabin and wait staff and they take Gouging the customer to the highest level. Having taken seven (7) cruises in 12 months with equivalent shipping lines Cunard and Holland America Line, I think Celebrity takes relieving guests of their money to new heights. Shore Excursions were up to five times the cost of Viator and Get Your Guide. These companies now offer a quality product and still make a profit. They also get you back to the ship on time. The old bogey of "we will leave without you", no longer holds the fear if it once did. Ship tours experience the same delays on land returning from same destinations. Beverages are exorbitant and people on packages have said it encourages them to drink more to get the value. Even at a discount, the drinks package we were offered would need us to drink 5 alcoholic beverages and a coffee to break even. Responsible Service of Alcohol, I think not! Health guidelines indicate Max 2-3 per day for both genders. Cirrhosis here we come! "Safety is our prime concern" really? No self serve laundry so unless you want to decorate your cabin with underwear, you have to pay $US3 plus gratuity for one pair of knickers to be washed and dried. The price of the knickers per unit is less than the laundry cost. I circumvented this impost by buying several pairs of cotton knickers to wear once and throw away. The real laundry gouging gem is the confiscation on boarding of a clothes steamer. There was a massive pile of confiscated steamers to which mine was added, probably more than 100 appliances. The ban on travel irons is certainly valid as they heat metal up to 475°F. Steamers boil water at 212°F so any metal will only heat to that temperature. The real kicker is that they allow hair straighteners to be used in the cabin. They too can heat up to 475°F. Though my scientific knowledge is limited, my math capability says hair straighteners are more likely to cause a fire than a clothes steamer. The cruise industry is recovering well from Covid19 as is the land-based tour industry. I love cruising but after this blatant gouging, I find myself exploring land-based options on my Starlink internet for which I pay each day, the equivalent of my monthly home internet.
One of the best cruises that I travel with.its my second cruise with celebrity cruises and I would like to say thank you celebrity for making my holiday so wonderful.good service and good hospitality and very caring. Thank you
Just got back from a far east cruise that started on the 27th January 24,The staff on the ship we're first class apart from the customer service who were very arrogant.Room was fine but ship is a bit old fashioned now but the worst thing about the cruise was the dining room, not the staff but the food was constantly worm or cold. The food was good quality but if it's not hot it's not good, the poor waiters were run off there feet,I was told they only took 2 thirds of staff back on after COVID.its sells it's self as a 5* but this ship was not,a 3.5 at best,it was a 4.5 out of 5 when we last went with them in 2019,also they have lost my three bottles of alcohol given in when boarding.
Just returned from Eclipse cruise to South America and Antarctica - firstly the experiences of seeing Antarctica, Tierra del Fuego, Port Stanley , Puerto Madryn - ice bergs, whales, albatross, penguins etc was amazing and is an experience which could have been enjoyed from any cruise provider. This review is about Celebrity Eclipse re Celebrity Cruises. We have been with Celebrity 7 times and have noticed a steady decline - in you put a rotten apple in the barrel it lowers the rest of the apples to the bottom. This is what is happening to Celebrity Cruises - they have lost that “Celebrity Appeal”. We have always travelled Aqua or Retreat because we consider ourselves more discerning travellers. This last cruise - not the fault of the ship itself or the staff. Rather the total lack of appreciation there are those of us that do not “stuff ourselves” morning to night or “drink” morning to night”. This entire cruise was dominated by the needs of the “greedy” masses. There was no consideration for those of a more discerning disposition who paid more to be treated better. If this was a “sunshine cruise” both Aqua and Retreat guests would be lined up with the “beached whales” “drinkers” “eaters” and smokers - there was no where to go to escape the “grazers” - sorry but I say it as I see it. Celebrity are slowly being dragged down to the lowest denominator i.e those that pay the least and eat and drink the most. My advice - don’t waste your money on Aqua or Retreat you are not treated any differently. In summary - Celebrity Cruises has totally lost its CLASS I say it as I have been treated.
Can’t understand the negative reviews, most seem to be around cancellations. We had our first cruise with Celebrity last year to Scandinavia and it was fabulous. The food and service were outstanding, cannot wait to go on another cruise with them, highly recommended.
Don't put down a deposit. Once they get it, and something happens that requires you to cancel, even over 3 months before the cruise, they'll not return it. It is not as if you have taken anyone's time. It's all electronic at that point. And plenty of time for them to book the cabin. Just pure greed on their part. I know they have a forfeiture policy. But, change is constant, and they make money off of you when it happens. My policy is to never do business again with a floating hotel company that rips you off, based on a ridiculous excuse. Change the policy.
Currently ending celebrity solstice Singapore to Hong Kong. Be aware that many of the ports were far away from the city and some were in container ports where there was nothing close by (Bangkok port was a 2.5 hour bus ride each way), Chan May was in the middle of nowhere, 2 hours to the nearest town or village, Halong Bay was gorgeous, but 3.5 to 4 hours each way to Hanoi if you want to go). Note: for Ha Long Bay, you have a couple of choices outside of the heavy priced shore excursions....Hop on Hop Off Bus comes to the pier when cruises are in. US $13 will get you a 24 hour ticket and you can get to the Ha Long Market, Flower Market, Museum, or even the beach. And if you take the free shuttle or walk to the pier admin building, you can get a 6 hour boat trip from one of the vendors to Sung Sot cave, Titop Island, and kayaking, lunch for approx USD $50 (vs $150+). Celebrity is certainly raking in shore excursion money by dropping you in hard to get anywhere places. Solstice is VERY tired, last refinishing was 2016 and it really looks it. Staff are great though and Dining Room food and service was really great (vs the buffet).
Our 7 Dec 2023-6 Jan 2024 CELEBRITY cruise had a great itinerary and wonderful staff but, WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT on many levels, especially when CELEBRITY AIR LEFT US STRANDED. So, with almost 20 cruises under our belts, several of them Celebrity, and many more in our future, WE WILL NEVER CRUISE CELEBRITY AGAIN. Here are the details, starting with the positive: The 30 day South American circumnavigation itinerary was outstanding. All except one of the 16 ports provided wonderful experiences, although we had to use non-Celebrity excursions for many of them. The staff was absolutely wonderful in every area of the ship, from bus people to ships officers. They are genuinely good people who are kind, very hard working and truly care about their guests. The “Naturalist” on board our ship is a true gem. His many talks, all on itinerary and world issue related subjects were educational and entertaining with a dash of humor. No wonder Celebrity has retained him for more than a decade. The other entertainment was good but, not great; I rate them a “B”. Unfortunately, all the remaining details are negative, VERY NEGATIVE: We chose Celebrity Air because they promise to take care of you when things go wrong. Our experience was exactly the opposite. Celebrity Air’s carrier cancelled our flight from LAX-SFO, which would have left us stranded in LAX after we’d been traveling for almost 24 hrs. Celebrity Air then refused to pay for an available flight on a different airline because, they said the available flights “are not in our inventory.” Are you kidding me? LEAVING PASSENGERS STRANDED ON THE WAY HOME IS EGREGIOUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE, and Celebrity should be ashamed of this. The other negative aspects of this Celebrity cruise were already enough to prevent us cruising with them again but, this blatant hard heartedness should make every traveller think carefully before cruising with Celebrity. We were late into and out of ports more often than we were on time. Our tender in Cabo was slowest most disorganized I’ve ever seen in multiple cruises to Cabo; so bad that we couldn’t even make it to shore. To make it worse, the ship’s crew wouldn’t say why. Boarding in Valparaiso was also extremely slow and disorganized. Celebrity’s explanation (given a few days later) was that the port changed rules at the last minute. However, Celebrity didn’t do enough to communicate this and respond properly in real time. In contrast, Viking boarded their customers efficiently right next to us. We had WiFi in our package but, it simply wasn’t functional and we had to pay for an upgrade; it was still abysmal! It’s 2024 and Celebrity needs to upgrade their equipment. With the exception of Murano, the food on the ship was mediocre, and the deserts were terrible; over beaten and much too sugary. The wines in the Classic package are barely 2-buck Chuck quality. Come on man, the world is awash in outstanding inexpensive wine; stop trying to squeeze every dollar here and there. Eclipse is at least two years past needing completely refurbished soft goods; they’re past worn and on the edge of tattered. As a fairly experienced cruiser, I would advise anyone considering Celebrity to think very carefully before making that choice.
My wife and I booked a cruise for July 2024 to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with Celebrity Cruises on the Celebrity Apex. We were not allowed to choose our own cabin but we were assured that we would get a cabin with a balcony when the cabins were allocated. This was very important to us. When the cabins were allocated we were given cabin 7307. We were excited to see what it looked like and went to the Celebrity app. It looked great, towards the stern of the ship on the left side. What I did not understand was the small symbols in the cabin location map which were inside the cabin. There was no key on the layout. I went online and used a search engine to discover that the small diamond symbol in the cabin meant that it had a restricted view. Further investigation on other sites informed us that this cabin had a 40% restricted view. We were gutted that the cabin given to us was nearly half obstructed. I contacted Celebrity and told them that we were unhappy with the cabin and told them that had we known that we would be given a restricted view cabin then we would not have booked, and this cruise was not cheap!! Celebrity responded by pointing us to the terms and conditions , basically we will lose our deposit if we cancel so its accept the poor cabin that we didnt want or lose money. Bare in mind that we paid full price for the cruise, it wasnt cheaper if we got a poor cabin. I honestly believe that this is a well practiced deception and dishonest. Who wants to pay full price for half a view? We certainly wont be going with Celebrity this time or any other. Please be aware of this practice.
Booked a cruise for July 2024 for 6 adults in 3 cabins. Two were inside cabins and the the third outside. When I made the booking I made an error with the people in two of the rooms and wanted to swap the names in those rooms. I contacted Celebrity to be told that they couldn't change names as the outside cabin hadn't yet been allocated by them and this would be at anytime in the next 7 months up to sailing. Then they announced that it would cost £160 to change the rooms even though it was the same family group and one of the rooms had yet to be allocated to us!!! I accept it was probably my fault and would be willing to pay a reasonable fee for what is a minor admin task of swapping the names allocated between two rooms but £160 when I'm pay £10,000 for the rooms alone is simply highway robbery!
Would never recommend Celebrity Cruises - when we were on their Norwegian cruise last year we were 'encouraged' to sign up for a cruise in 2024 and we had 6 months to cancel and get back the refund. We contacted them via email & phone numerous times within the 6 months to request the refund and cancel the cruise but never heard back from anybody! All a scam!
We have just sailed with celebrity cruises from Singapore to Sydney and had to provide a debit/credit card which we did. A total of $99.75 dollars was taken out from our debit card. The cruise finished and we thought the money would be refunded, over a month on, celebrity cruises still has our money and will not give it back. After a dialog with celebrity cruises via emails they just seen to make me run around in circles but refuse to give my money back.
We are currently on the celebrity solice coming to the end of our once in a lifetime holiday from Hong-Kong to Singapore. Stated on day one when we received a note to say they couldn't verify our credit card so we went to customer services explained we use a different card for holiday money so registered the card which was debited on hold 99.97 us dollars. at the same time because of trip changes by them i had a credit of 212 dollars. I bought some goods using some of credit available but still has 122 left . day 10 we were ashore and went to change some curency to find our card had again been charged 99.97 dollars on hold. tried to complain to staff who were not interested staying we had 2 cards on record, even stating we had credits we couldn't use as we had premium drinks . eventually a lady said should we merge the accounts and she would get onto accounts for us. all well till later same day my onboard credit was debited same amount. cannot believe the total lack of professional service. been told could take up to 14days after we leave ship to get our money released back to us. The staff are marvellous bar, room services and catering. the food is disappointing cheap cuts repeated over and over . to top it off today's trip to ko sammoi was last staw. booked free time at a beach. 3/4hr on trip from hell, the driver constantly on phone taking calls and texting ,while overtaking, to be dropped off at a shopping centre again and told beach down that road. we arrived to a thim strip of sand packed with others no room . turned round went to shopping centre to use loo and got shuttle bus back to pier and ship. total waste of time and money . the island is supposed to be beautiful but we didn't have ti.e to see it in a good light . Sorry for rant but we waited 3yrs for this trip Never again with celebrity
I would not recommend anyone from any cruise ship to go on this tour. Totally disorganised. Poor quality sun loungers. They ran out of food. We never found the snorklling guide as promised. The island was totally overcrowded with people from 3 cruise ships. Drinks were additional and over priced. The worst cruise excursion I've ever been on. People on the ship still discussing how bad it was the following day. I have given 1star because the sail to and from the island was interesting notwithstanding there was a mechanical fault with the boat which was also worrying.
We just completed 2 trips on Celebrity - Celebrity Beyond and Reflection - in December 2023. On both ships, the quality of food has gotten worse than ever. As other cruisers are reporting, cost cutting at Celebrity Corporate has resulted is a less than exceptional cruise experience. Servers did a fine job taking care of our cabins, and food service, but with lower grade raw ingredients, the experience was not good as it had been previously on my other 12 Celebrity cruises. Additionally, on Celebrity Reflection, we were routinely overcharged on drinks and shop items by as much as 25%. It was a constant effort to review billing daily and get the errors corrected. No end of cruise critique was provided on Celebrity Reflection, and Celebrity's After Cruise service staff refused to provide one and was not interested in our comments. The only way to report this situation is thru an independent rating service like Trustpilot so others don't make a mistake and sail with Celebrity.

Complaints about the quality of food and amenities are common, with some describing the dining options as subpar and cabins as small and outdated. However, there are positive remarks about specific ships like the Ascent and Reflection, where some customers praise the staff's friendliness and the cleanliness of the vessels.
