The staff were very friendly and courteous. We got a very quick transport to the Airport when we dropped off our vehicle. Great hire rates. Would use again.

We had a wonderful stay in Christchurch, New Zealand and we believed that one of the most important reasons was that we had arranged car rentals with Bargain Rental Cars. The exemplary customer services was astonishing as the staff members listened attentively to our concerns and comments, and they honestly carried out their promise to replace a car for us within one day. This 2013 Nissan Sylphy was more than good for us. Thanks so much again please.
Car was bashed up when I received it with a faulty transmission that made it unsafe to drive. I was shorted my security deposit and they stopped responding to my complaint regarding the money they still owe me.
My partner and i recently rented a car from this business while in New Zealand. The car we used was extremely dodgy and left us stranded in Taupo for an hour, when we called to get some help we were told they could do nothing at all and to call AA at our cost. We are from a foreign country with no idea who or even what that was. Thankfully we speak english as our first language, i cannot imagine how scary that would have been for someone who didn’t speak english as their first language. Thankfully a complete stranger helped us and we were able to make it back. The car also contained rubbish when we received it. After a dodgy few days of using the car when returned with the car fuel on full we were made to go and put another $9 into it as it wasn’t enough. It has now been over a week and we still haven’t received our bond back. I am extremely disappointed in the service we received. I cannot recommend this business to anyone as of right now.

Truly the worst of them all. Awful communication, horrible customer service, abysmal quality of car hired, disgusting lack of customer care. Ongoing billing dispute lasting 12 months now, without any true response, explanation or assistance. Do yourself a favour and use ANY other company. I mean it, no company can be as bad as this.
We needed a hire car for 29 days out of Auckland airport in Sept 2022 and Discovercars quoted £300 using Bargain Rental Cars for a small car Mazda Demio or similar. This was a very good price so we didn't expect a new or low mileage car. We were given a Hyundai Getz, fairly old with 160k Km on the clock. No problem. We picked the car up on Tuesday 27th and it was good for a few days and we were near Auckland. On the Friday we started to set off south and the car was misfiring badly and the engine check light was on. We phoned the AA as instructed and paid them 90 NZD for the man to come. He confirmed the problem and arranged a tow truck back to the car hire depot. They were very apologetic and said the 90 NZD would be refunded. They gave us an upgrade to a Toyota Prius also fairly old (FM/AM radio with minidisk and CD player) with 160k Km on the clock. Very pleased. Just two and a half hours delay which wasn't a problem. No car is 100% reliable so we were just unlucky. However, 90 NZD was not refunded. Asked about this when returning the car and they said to contact the NZ AA but I don't have contact details or any reference. Sent an email to ask for refund after returning to UK but no response. Recommend having a NZ Sim card (I bought from Simcorner for £12 in UK). Also allow a little extra time if necessary for catching your return flight.
My plane to Auckland was delayed 2 hours. I contacted the company and let them know and they assured me it was 24 hour pick up service. 22 calls between 0130 and 0730 before I finally got a pick up sorted. Took 17 business days to return the bond. Despite emailing a complaint to the company via email as directed by their staff I received nothing back. Terrible experience.
One of the worse Car Rental Companies i have dealt with. Got a quote for a Rental Car for 20 days and emailed them twice to sort out a couple of issues then emailed them again as I had obtained a quote from a competitor which was around $200 cheaper than Bargain Rental Cars. On their website they advertise that if you find a cheaper rental then they will beat that rental price by 10%. As I didn't get any response from my email, I then rang them and spoke to lady at Auckland Airport Branch who looked into the situation and advised she would have to speak to her Manager once she had located my emails as I had sent them a copy of the cheaper quote. I was happy with that, and she would then call me back. Next thing I get an email from them with the full details of the original quote, no explanation as to whether they would give me the 10% discount as their website shows, so I emailed them back and surprise surprise NO RESPONSE. From my experience I believe that all there great feedback is probably from their staff who have tried to show that they are a caring Company. Stay clear of them
Hired car a drive between Wellington and Auckland in May 2022. Went to pick it up and discovered it was over 15 years old!! My insurance was only valid for cars < 10 years old. Company not particularly helpful in coming up with reasonable solutions. I could purchase their insurance at something ridiculous like $25pday or get a newer car at a cost of an additional $300 for the week. I managed to sort other insurance which meant I ended up leaving with the car, but they proceeded to overcharge me (although I got the difference refunded). Car was okay to drive apart from the lights being rubbish at night which I reported when I dropped the car at Auckland. All in all an okay experience with an okay car but not brilliant.
Worst experience we hired a rental car and they had the police pick it up and claimed it was stolen we eventually got the charges dropped after years through court don't risk it
terrible company - booked car was unavailable, the one they got us in was filthy. After we got home we were contacted about extra money owing which they hadnt charged us for when we paid the bill. After a few months of not answering my emails, they referred it to a debt collector. I suggest avoiding this company at all costs
I booked a car 2 weeks in advance through discovercars, initially they sent me an invoice that is $30 more than the quoted price, only to honour the original quote after I complained to discovercars. Then they unilaterally changed the booking time from 1PM to 2PM without telling me. When I showed up at 12:45 they claimed that this was "system error". Mind you the confirmation email I got was straight from BRC after I filled in my info on their website, which showed 1PM and not 2PM, so I call bullsh*t on their claim. The "manager" initially got all friendly and promised to "take care" of me and would go to their other carpark at the airport and get me a car on time. They also had an available car of a higher class and any honest business would provide me this as an upgrade free of charge, but not this business. At 1:15 the guy was still chitchatting with another new coming customer. When I came to ask for my car again he told a staff to push me away from their garage and slammed both doors in my face. Unbelievably rude guy. I got my car at 2:15 but he still insisted I return it at 1:00 PM on the last day. Avoid these dishonest people at all cost!!! A little cheaper sure but the experience totally ruined my trip at Christchurch, and I had to cancel one event of the day due to not having the car on time.
Terrible hire company to deal with, cars are unsafe and had to clean the car myself upon hire as was filthy. When issue was raised with them they have avoided my emails
