Worst car hire experience I’ve ever had. Picked up a vehicle (Haval Jolion) from Townsville Airport, and within an hour—while driving to Ayr—the engine warning light came on and the gearbox started malfunctioning. I was charged $1,200 for 4 days for a complete lemon. Ended up calling RACQ late at night, and they advised me to stop driving immediately. The next day, a tow truck was dispatched, and I had to ride with it to collect a replacement vehicle. Absolutely unacceptable.

Clean car, desk staff helpful, price was good. Easy to book, someone answered the phone when we had questions.

Rental was from 8.30am but didn’t get away until 9.25 as only one guy on deck and several people wanting assistance. We had completed the paperwork online the day before so no excuse. Our drop back time was 4.00pm and filled up petrol tank and arrived back at 4.09 to locked gates. Then had to do drop off to the airport and bus back. Not pleased at all.

Service was quick and easy although the car we got was not very clean, smelled a little funny and had a slow leak in one of the tyres.

The staff were extremely helpful and explained everything clearly. Kurt was extremely knowledgeable and polite and professionally articulate. Denise at the Darwin airport depot went above and beyond the call of duty when my grandson left his iPad on the transfer bus and she came back and he had it back in his possession within ten minutes….. It’s totally restored my faith in humanity and I’ll definitely continue to use Bargain Car Rentals in any future holidays. Thank you so much!!!!🙏

Great service, and easy to communicate with

They have a policy that allows them to charge a tank refill price if it is even the tiniest bit off 100% full. I filled the tank about 10k's from the airport drop off and they charged me the $85 refill charge. I cant have used anymore than $5. Very poor customer service and I will not be using them again.

The price was reasonable, especially being last minute, but unfortunately, the staff service wasn’t very friendly, especially when the staff explained the $1000 deposit. The car itself felt a bit dated, wasn’t particularly clean, and had a slight smell.
