This is my honest feedback which I'm sure won't be liked! Dieticians are great and their support is brilliant. Pick up from airport was great but the so called 5 star hotel we were put in was dark, smelly, dirty and depressing. Staff were great tho. My friend came with me to sunbathe whilst I was recuperating and even tho a pool was advertised it wasn't in use and looked like it had never been... ever! The hospital was very clean and staff seemed good but there was a definate language barrier. I have to say it but Bella was awful. She did not appreciate how hard it was to show my body to a male nurse and as an interpreter should she be standing as close as the nurse whilst I had to strip?? I think not. She had no respect for my privacy and had no diplomacy. She came right in, no explaining and told me to lift my top. She spoke constantly to nurse and didn't relay what was being said. Made me feel very self conscious and embarrassed. The ward seemed very short staffed and you could buzz and sometimes wait over 30 mins for someone to come. The tests were very smoothly organised. After the operation I spent 2 days in the hospital where I was left to lie for a long time on a bloody sheet and where they gave me injections, fluids etc but i had not a clue what they were. I then went back to hotel, where my friend stated the food was awful so had to go out to eat. We were central istanbul, full of men who stare at women. Very intimidating. We lasted 2 more days in hotel before we paid £800 extra to get home. They advise you to drink protein water but you can't get it anywhere in Istanbul. I did feel that it was more like a conveyor belt where everyone was treated exactly the same instead of being treated as individuals. I love our NHS but staying in Scotland for this operation would have cost £12,000 and it cost me under £5,000 once flights were added. If people are as desperate as I was they would do what I did so please read this revue and make up your own mind but hopefully you now realise some of the pitfalls.
