Elite Flooring would say it was an all round good…
I would say it was an all round good experience from my visit to the showroom with their vast range of flooring plus staff being so helpful including a visit to check how it would be practical etc and staff arriving on time and being so professional and helpful in completing my flooring
I recently had an issue with tiles picking up and fading - I contacted the company and they dealt with it in a very speedy and efficient way. The product is excellent and this is matched by the service
Beautiful floor laid very skillfully. Warranty registration process easy and prompt.
One issue - as tiles are supplied in 2sqm packs, we were left with 1.65sqms of expensive tiles. Perhaps packs should be supplied in 1sqm quantity.
This flooring is so expensive and yet so rubbish (especially if you have a dog). Ours doesn't moult and is pretty good when it comes to staying on his bed when muddy/wet and has rarely ever had any accidents in the house. We also have a cleaner once a week and we cannot keep this floor clean. It's always got a gross mud residue on the grey tiles that will only come up if you get on your hands and knees with a heavy-duty (not lung-friendly) cleaning product and wipe round and round in circles. None of their upkeep products are any use either. Replacing with something more easy to keep nice and a lot cheaper
Amtico is an excellent product. All floors scratch! At the end of the day it is down to the retailer to provide all the information on how to care for your flooring and for consumer to look after their floors! My brother had the Amtico Signature in his kitchen for over 15 years and only recently changed the flooring due to a new kitchen and now has Amtico Spacia Clic. It's all down to the floor preparation being done correctly and the fitter being an experienced Amtico installer. Go to a local family run flooring business and not one of these large companies that sell off this flooring cheap. You buy cheap, you get cheap!
Have Amtico click in our kitchen diner and wouldn't recommend it, scratches very easily and shows up every mark. I had all new floors done in various materials and this has been the only one I regret.
Amtico floor tiles with stripping was purchased from John Lewis and on 13 June 2019 laid by one of ‘their’ fitters described in the job estimate as:
“Your new flooring will be fitted by one of our approved flooring fitters. They are carefully selected to ensure they deliver the high standards our customers expect”.
It was fitted in my utility room at a cost of £1,1361.91 - now all down the drain! The utility room remained empty and unused until late 2021 when a design for the units and fittings was finalized. The floor was never cleaned because it never needed it.
Upon finally just wiping the floor with a damp cloth I noticed gaps between the stripping ends, and also between the stripping and the tiles, which were wide enough to allow me to insert a flat bladed spatula. I was easily able to lift the stripping at the joins and pull it completely away from the floor - so not stuck down very well. This was possible in many places and not just an isolated area. I was also able to lift a whole square tile.
The 2-year warranty from John Lewis ended in June 2021. I advised them of my problem in December 2021 and they curtly evaded any responsibility or interest on the grounds of being out of the warranty period.
I have contacted Amtico and as of 27Dec21 awaiting a reply.
I have looked on the Internet for similar issues and found I am not the first to have experienced this.
In essence I think these tiles are often a problem waiting to happen. Although tough but flexible they will change shape with temperature. If warmed they will expand and if cooled they will shrink. It would therefore appear to be rather important for the tiles to be fitted when their temperature is very close to the temperature of the room floor when it will be in use. Some floor temperatures can vary quite a bit and hence it is possible for tiles to change shape and so size. Gaps could then appear. Cold or heat can come up from the floor substrata or equally from above when the room temperature changes with central heating, fires or sunlight through a window - that sort of effect. If there is under floor heating the variation in temperature will most likely be very little and you stand the chance of having tile shape/size stability and so less possibility of gaps appearing.
The tiles might have been fitted incorrectly. Perhaps the wrong glue was used or the tiles not fitted closely/tightly enough. You need to check this at the fitting stage.
Either way, in my case the gaps pose a problem because if water gets into them [normal mopping etc.] the board on which the tiles are laid will most certainly expand, start to lift and the floor need to be replaced.
My conclusion and advice is as follows. You take a chance on fitting this kind of tile. You could be unlucky and have my experience, which is a big disappointment and waste of almost £1,200 for a floor area of only 9 square metres!
What’s an alternative?
Ceramic tiles have a ‘cold’ feeling and can be slippery. They are also hard and not sound absorbing.
I would suggest looking for a good quality hardwearing ‘lino’ sort of product. I have just started to look into this option and am quite impressed so far. A continuous roll could be the answer as it doesn’t have all the joins as a ‘tiled’ floor.
Search for “linoleum flooring” and you might see what you would rather have.
I purchased Amtico flooring 3 years ago. I adored it and everyone that saw it said how lovely it looked. However, by the patio doors and beyond i have a green tinge appear in quite a large area. We are not south facing, so i am so disappointed. I contacted Amtico and had no help whatsoever because i bought it from Lifestyle in Leeds at a cheaper price, although delivered by Amtico. I am so upset as this flooring was not a cheap option. I also decided to buy from a British company. I now wish i had decided on Karndeen which my daughter has and there is no fading whatsoever. Please do not lay this flooring by patio doors, there is no come back from this company whatsoever. Read their terms and conditions and you will see for yourself.
I contacted Amtico UK's Richard Galvin after our Amtico Spacia flooring had faded. To my surprise, the company offered to replace our flooring with a new top of the range product, which not only will not fade but also does not require any later surfacing. And it looks fantastic. We were told that the original flooring was probably from a bad batch and was very unusual. We found the company and their local suppliers Tyne Carpets & Flooring of Camberley, very courteous and professional.
We had a large kitchen diner built and opted for spacia Amtico. We have had Amtico in our cloakroom for 20 years.
We are really disappointed with it, the "entry level" seems just that. We had issues with gaps (probably caused by heat next to the bi fold doors). Part of the floor was relaid using Amtico HT glue. After several months some planks near the doors look as though they are rising up.
It lacks a premium feel to it and scratches very easily. This room gets a lot of punishment and the Amtico marketing suggests this floor should be able to cope. This looks as though it will not last long and Amtico will not be on the list when we replace it.
As far as the guarantee is concerned it seems to apply to manufacturing faultd
I’ve had amtico laid very poorly by a local company on behalf of my house builder, it has large gaps, grit under, is lifting and is just shoddy and unprofessional.
After continued issues with getting the company to take responsibility I asked Amtico to help, however they sent out some colleague that now transpires works in the “roll out and technical” department to do an inspection.
What a waste of time!!!
Not only did I have to invite him to look at my floor by bending down but half the issues he noted were not even in his report (that was continually chased up for weeks) but he justified the lifting and lack of adhesive and said it was down to movement! This is a joke I have no large cracks in my house and the lifting is all on the edge in the bathroom.
He’s missed grit under the planks in the same room and all he seemed to care about was the floor was nearly 2 years old - I’ve been battling for this to be inspected and rectified for a year almost!!
When you get the manufacturer of a product involved you expect atleast someone with the remit and expertise to attend not some bloke who works in a roll out department who doesn’t give a stuff!
So thanks Amtico I’ve wasted thousands on your product - but aslong as you keep your “working relationship” with these big house builders who cares about us the people who are done over!!!
Terrible - it scratches so easily and where it meets end to end it keeps unclicking which means it makes a noise when you walk over it! I thought i was spending extra trying to get it right but im very disappointed.
Amtico was a little pricey but I wanted to go with an established brand (bonus that they’re British) & am so glad I did. Fitting was a bit of a faff as I had to have a subfloor laid, but once that was down the parquet went down so quickly! It looks gorgeous & is so realistic. I’ve been really careful to add felt pads to the bottom of chair legs etc. to avoid scratches & six months later, so far so good! 🤞🏼
I had laminate in my old house & this is worlds apart!
