Amber electric have upped my usage charge by 3 times my original costing. Doubling my previous bill. I work full time hardly home with 2 people in the house. When asked why it is so high. They said I used more that month. Not double the amount. I will not use them again it recommend them.

The best electricity retailer I have had for 20 years

This is a great company if you use lots of electricity. They give you warnings when the price is expensive so you can cut back your usage.The rest of the day your power is less then half the price of other power companies.As they price power on how much the are charged,not what they can get away with like other companies.They also send you details in the beginning of each season on their maximum charge related to peak pricing.They also have an app that shows how much power you are using at anytime and how much solar is going back into the grid. When you have any questions they get back to you quickly. Amber is the best electricity supplier I have had in the last 20 years.

Outstanding product

Outstanding product. We get our electricity at cheaper price and best of all get great export prices. Customer service has been amazing, explaining each questions answer clearly with the assistance to talk us through what we needed to do. Well done guys

A breath of fresh air

A breath of fresh air, with a company that is allowing solar and battery installers to be rewarded for their investment. Other companies, have reduced solar input to 3 cents per kw, an insult. Looking forward to a mutually rewarding experience, where we are rewarded for our investment.

Amber delivers

Amber promised to save me money and it has. I have two properties with Amber, the first six months and the second three months. Both average about 40% reduction in electricity costs every month. Their App is very informative and feature rich. My only issue is that their bill is very complicated and impossible to correlate to the electricity prices stated in the App. Overall highly recommend.

Saving your pocket and the environment

Since joining 3 month ago, I have nothing but praise for Amber innovative plan that allows you to choose when to use electricity not only at a desired price point but also at a certain availability level of renewable energy. With a bit of luck I managed to change the family’s usage pattern and have escaped a few occasions this summer where price was 30c+. Money saved is enough to pay for my NBN.

Excellent savings and control

Excellent savings if you're willing to check the app each day. We normally check it each morning when we wake up to see the forecast prices, similar to checking the weather really. Then we have control over when we might use certain appliances. Great if you're working from home and have that flexibility. We've been with Amber about 2 months now and I'd say 90% of the time, electricity is 15c, which is way cheaper than the usual 27c normally charged by other providers.

A new & better way to buy electricity

Amber is a new way to buy electricity. They're probably not for everyone, but they make it very easy to save on your bill by buying at wholesale prices. The app gives you transparency over pricing and the ability to shift your usage to save money. My first three bills have been 40% cheaper than my previous retailer for the same usage.

Overall saved us money, but there are hidden costs

Overall saved us money, it looks like our quarterly bill will go down from $250 to $150... HOWEVER... I'd call their pricing somewhat deceptive. In the app my "last 30days usage was $30.38", i just received my bill for that period... $72.56!!!! The app makes you think you're doing really well & its super cheap... and then then bill comes and its more than DOUBLE what their app says. For a normal provider - you pay a daily access charge & then pay for the electricity at the rates (single, time of use etc), and you pay nothing more - everything is rolled into those costs. Amber advertises "pay at wholesale", which you do but the extras are where they jack up the price. I have a $6.65 (>1/10th the bill) "environmental certificate cost" - you pay extra per kwh, then they make you pay for them to buy certificates? There's also a $10 metering charge (40c a day) to get meter data they pass on to you (>1/6th the bill) Neither of these costs are on their pricing page & over 1/3 of my bill is due to these unexpected & undocumented costs. They're good - but not completely transparent. In terms of variable pricing - BE CAREFUL - there are loads you cannot control - your water heater. After a bath i've seen our water heater on during evening peak times (4.8kw) & we've recently seen price spikes ($15/hr). The only way to turn off the water heater is to go out to the fuse box & manually switch it off (this would also wear out the circuit breakers & not advisable), and unless you have detailed power monitoring - you wouldnt know this. That was almost a $30 bath that one night!
