Review summary
alt. tickets has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service, though some mention concerns about customer service.
I had a question about my tickets that I had recently bought and decided to email customer service. They replied within minutes and Dan H was the one who replied. He was so helpful and quick with his reply. Thank you so so much.
Utterly useless and ridiculous ticket service. Having to write a formal letter to transfer tickets to a friend because they don’t have a system that is up to date enough.
Absolutely the worst ticket reseller I've ever had the displeasure of being forced to interact with. 20% mandatory booking fees is abhorrent. If you're on the fence about an event and the only option is alt tickets, don't give them the satisfaction, they deserve to be ran out of business.
Avoid Buying tickets from Alt. tickets. We bought tickets for Pink Summer Carnival, they were not accepted at the door. Luckily we managed to get tickets from the official seller Ticketmaster. We weren't the only people facing this issue on the day.
I have bought a couple of times from Alt. The most recent event I had to ask for a refund as there was a problem with access to the venue. My emails were answered promptly and the refund ( minus booking fees) was in my bank within 4 days. All in all I'm happy with their customer service.
I'm really surprised to see so many negative reviews: I always use Alt.tickets where possible and have never had any problems. I live in Nottingham and they sell tickets for most of the gig venues here (Rock City, Rescue Rooms, Bodega etc) so it is always my first choice and I've bought lots over the years. I also bought a piece of the Rock City floor from them during lockdown with no issues - it arrived promptly and well packaged. I agree that the booking fee charges are high and paying to print your own tickets is frustrating but the big two ticket companies are the same, it is an industry wide issue!
Avoid Alt tickets.
I bought tickets for a gig but unfortunately due to illness we were unable to attend.
I contacted Alt tickets to cancel as I’d bought insurance through them with the tickets.
They refused and said even though testing positive for Covid that we should attend anyway as there are no longer lockdown restrictions??!!
I asked them if they were advising me to go against NHS advice and to endanger people’s lives, they didn’t respond.
Unfortunately a similar story to others; writing a review because I wish I’d seen the recent review on the same topic.
Artist had to cancel gig. First off, no correspondence from Alt Gigs, I found out myself through my bank statement partial refund and then investigating social media.
Secondly, refunding only part of what I paid? Ridiculous. There was £5 per ticket booking fee not returned and £1.25 E-ticket download fee. (I mean, charging £1.25 for me to print my own ticket - tell me how that’s justifiable when there’s already these ridiculous handling fee costs…)
To paint themselves as ‘support the small alt bands/companies as we’re not hiking up prices, we’re just the good guys being a low-cost primary seller, not like these big greedy secondary sellers’ is just farcical. At least these big companies refund booking fees if there’s been a cancelled gig OR don’t charge £5 PER TICKET in the first place.
Really poor customer service with correspondence too. Honestly, save your money and buy your ticket elsewhere.
If the event is cancelled at no fault of your own. They do promptly give a refund but minus of the booking fees. This really adds up if numerous tickets have been bought. On 3 tickets I lost nearly £15 and not only that but they didn't even let me know that the event had been cancelled. I only knew because I had the band on socials. I'm sure some people will be turning up to be disappointed.
Used a few times over the years. But not anymore
Took almost £30 in booking fees for a gig that was cancelled
I have been refunded for a cancelled gig minus almost £30 in booking fees (one single transaction) absolutely outrageous they can take so much money for a n experience i never received! Last time i will ever use them!
Be aware that the booking fee and e-ticket costs are not refunded if the artist cancels the gig so you’ll be out of pocket through no fault of your own. Odd business practise as they may have kept £6 from me this time but they’ve lost all future business. Book with ticketmaster instead as they refund booking fees too!0
Bought Dead South tickets in dec 2022 for a concert in Manchester in October 2023, printed tickets, tickets accepted on door. No problems at all, happily use them again 👍
Was a little nervous using them instead of the global behemoth that is T1cket Master but had no issues at all
