Review summary
48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
I used to love 48 but since they updated the app I'm really in despair you can never log in says error or screen just stays blank PLEASE 48 GET IT SORTED ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
I'm very happy as I must admit I was a dubious about this company after reading reviews here and looking at some of the problems people were having on the 48.ie website but for 7.99 euros per month and no contract I decided to try it out and I'm glad I did.
The whole process was so easy My SIM was activated immediately and I moved my number from Vodafone, this took less 30 minutes. I had one small problem and the online web chat answered within a couple of minutes and it was sorted out. Everything is working perfectly and I haven't noticed any difference in internet speeds or coverage from Vodafone and this is so much cheaper. I'd say that this must be the best value anywhere.
Had a hassle free experience switching from three. I put in my wife's SIM originally instead of my own and thought something was wrong but customer chat figured out I had wrong SIM in, that chat was quite good and quick. My wife switched this morning and it was quick and hassle free. Great value and would highly recommend. No drop in speed since I switched from three :-)
Some load of bołľox. I changed from 3 to 48 and was some mistake so it was. Their app was shockingly shıt and I cant even move back without taking my phone to the phone shop and getting it sorted out so dont even bother wasting your time or money on this ball of shıt.
I dedided to change my current mobile supplier in september to save some money, big mistake .Its now October and I still cant use my sim. I have paid 2 memberships Customer service is a joke. I was sent a faulty sim. The pin1 and puk1 dont work. I was accused by an agent of entering the wrong pin 3 times which blocked the SIM card .I DID NOT DO THIS. I still have the original plastic sim card holder that came with the sim card which has printed on it the sim pin and puk code but the sim card will not accept these codes. I paid my membership in advance as I didn't foresee the people and poor customer service I would have to deal with. Really the test of good customer service is when there is a problem not when there is not. I know some customers have rated this comany highly but I wonder if they had any issues because its very hard to honestly rate a company until you have. I have been left very stressed and unbelievably disappointed by my dealings with this company. Why is it so hard to get decent customer service ?
I've had my 48 SIM for a few weeks now and I've still not made a call but received some just fine.
I'm in it for the internet, being rural the phone is my best option.
100GB/month should be enough for most months, but I do gaming so some months could be a bigger drain. I can only hope to stay in my limit. So far so good.
I was on 3's unlimited data and this is no different. Connecting to the Xbox via hotspot gives varied NAT types. Sometimes open, mostly moderate where I am. It may differ for you, but speeds are comparable to 3 as you might expect.
I had one bad day with no signal, but my 3 SIM and my UK Tesco SIMs all showed no signal so it must have been mast works.
I did get through to their web chat service without too much waiting. The answer took some time though. 7 minutes from question to reply. Customer service isn't the best but I'd rather have good service first (yes I class this as a good service), then customer service can take a back seat.
I switched to 48.ie in early October. The service works very well so far.
I switched to 48.ie in early October. The SIM arrived a week after I ordered. There was easy to follow instructions on the packaging to start using the SIM. I logged into the website and found it easy to use. I generated a new number to try the service. Calls came through to the new SIM perfectly and the mobile data worked instantly without having to change any phone settings. I was able to listen to spotify, watch youtube and read emails as good as with my previous provider. So I purchased a €7.99 subscription, I logged into my old provider and cancelled their service. Make sure to do this before you port your number over to 48. Porting your old number over to 48 is very easy. I used the porting service on the 48 website and it took only half an hour before my number was moved over. I am satisfied with the 48 service so far. The service occasionally drops in rural areas or in hilly areas. But for the average user it is a perfectly adequate and easy to use service.
So far on this magical trip of moving to 48.ie one week has passed with 5 calls to the service desk as I was not getting any service on the phone , now have to reorder a sim which could take a week my last call was 50 minutes and the end result was "go on the site and reorder a sim " ,Service people on the whole try and help but the set up seems to be very basic and at 7.99 per month I can see why, be prepared to experience a possible frustrating route to getting up and running , blood pressure tablets should be at the ready .
