The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
Having had near misses roaming outside Ireland previously with no network or data (fixed via APN), today I've arrived to UK for 10 days over Easter and it's absolutely knackered, nothing, zero. Came on here and saw others saying the same. Wish I acted on my hunch months back and cancelled with them. Awful awful, stay away, 48 is rubbish.
Data doesn't work when abroad or even 20 minutes up the road over the border. Unacceptable as this is when you need data the most. Now I am back in Ireland and I can't even get network coverage? Forget about it, I will be cancelling my membership and going elsewhere
Data roaming abroad doesn't work reliably. Set up all the APNs according to the web site. Worked fine for 2 days in France - then on the third and subsequent days: nothing. DOA in Italy. Worked first day in UK and then never again. Completely unreliable.
Warning!
Keep away. I spent an hour in a phone shop in Italy trying to sort out roaming and had to buy a new Italian sim. On my return to Ireland I went back to previous provider.
Perfectly good if staying in Ireland. ZERO coverage if outside.
I'm an engineer so can handle technical stuff... I took 2 trips recently one in EU and then in USA. Could not getting roaming to work at all in EU... tried everything they told me and all the instructions on website. ZERO results. Assumed I did something wrong.
Then again in USA. stayed for a week and tried everything. Roaming JUST DOESN'T WORK for 48!
Perfectly fine if staying in ireland though.
Cancelled because international roaming is not reliable
48 worked well for me in Ireland, having switched to it during the no-travel period. Since resuming travel I have had issues with international roaming, but not on every trip. However, I do not wish to spend time mucking about with APNs on most trips and last weekend, in Poland, I had the new experience of the roaming working intermittently, mostly off.
I have reverted to Vodafone, albeit at significantly greater cost, but I know it is bullet-proof when travelling.
Now I am having a hassle seeking a refund of my top-up balance. They have a record of my payments but say that they don't have the card details.
Useless outside the Republic of Ireland,no phone no text no data literally 90 mins up the road from me,like the saying you get what you pay for wouldnt recommend.
Joined yesterday and tried to change back to vodafone within 5 minutes. Had 4g everywhere I went with Vodafone, only have 3g with this crowd despite them stating they have 99% coverage around Ireland. This is what I get for being tight! Will be back with Vodafone next week. My advice is Spend the extra few euro for excellent coverage and customer care
Works great both inside and outside of Ireland. When roaming, there's a 30 second setup required to make it work which is generally not known to people. Hence, they're stuck without network and hate the network. May be this is something 48 should include instructions for when posting the SIM.
Great customer service. The response on the online chat is super quick. They're really helpful and stick with you until the issue is resolved.
