48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
In Rep of Ireland the network it's OK, not so good and not so bad, if you want to travel abroad you have to buy another SIM Card locally because 48 Mobile basically doesn't work outside Ireland, even to receive a phone call or text message, doesn't work at all, I did all the steps that 48 helpdesk support share with me and still doesn't work, no roaming. Even on UK, I was recently in Edinburgh and London and my signal was ZERO.
I’m in Italy have no phone contact at all thought I had cover at one stage but was told my credit was used up, when I get home I’m going to take that smart ass advice and change
I moved to 48 as it was a cheaper option and seemed to have a good deal. As many have stated, disastrous when you are abroad and failed to work for me at all when in Venice, Italy.
My biggest issue is the unprofessionalism of not responding to Vodafone when I attempted to switch network and not providing the authorization to switch my number over. This will leave me without a network for almost a week. Really unhappy and will not use 48 ever again.
Wow, I've only just realised that a rather unflattering review I posted a few days ago concerning the Three ISP off-shoot, 48.ie, namely, on their current Membership, was completely off the mark - and has been deleted!
I stated that their current Membership monthly data-allowance was a paltry 11GB, when in fact the allowance is now " Unlimited* " - the asterisk being shorthand for 'within reason' I presume. The 11GB I cited, refers to the EU roaming allowance that's available. Duh!
So, I'm back to being a 48.ie 'fanboy' again - well, nearly, I've only given them 4-stars, due to the rather hefty price increase, going from €8 (when I joined) to their current Membership offer of €13. This of course now includes Unlimited Data*. But since I view my current Data allotment of 100GB per month as practically 'Unlimited', I would have preferred less data for less cash. Nevertheless, I'm a happy 48.ie camper again.
Bottom line is there is no roaming capabilities whilst abroad. Impossible to get in contact with and make you jump thorugh hoops with changing settings etc. The still doesn't work. You are promised a fix but need to rosier a new sim. Sim works for the first trip abroad, second time then reverts back to normal so no signal.or internet. Change provider!!!
Patchy 4g internet coverage, low speeds, and poor reliability in my experience. No way i could use 100 GB allowance with speeds I was getting. Wife's SIM in my phone resulted in faster internet. Wife's internet was still was still too slow though. Roaming was another frustration. Too hard to use website and support.
Absolutely fine in Ireland (Republic only), though some patchiness in remote parts of Wicklow and Kerry in my experience. However, disaster when traveling abroad. Works in theory abroad but more often than not you spend ages fiddling with SIM settings and trying (and failing) to manually connect to networks. Found myself stranded with no signal at all when in Europe a few times (also can be difficult to get and stay on a network in Northern Ireland, too - though found in places like Greece and Netherlands it was entirely hopeless), so I'm ditching for that reason. Bargain if you never leave Ireland but otherwise would not recommend.
Tried ALL the troubleshooting which seems to be a necessity for everyone. It's like they don't want you to roam. Shambles. Trip to UK and it never worked. In Paris now, never worked. Did EVERYTHING they told me and am constantly getting the SIM data refreshing crap on my screen but still no data and it appears to be draining the battery in my brand new phone. SIM card is going in the bin when I get home and I'll be throwing all my money at Vodafone. Beyond rubbish.
Hi all. I’ve been using 48 for over 2 years and can honestly say that it is a service suited only to those who do not travel outside of Ireland. Brilliant in Ireland but absolutely useless abroad.
I cannot get any signal outside Ireland and will be changing provider. If u travel get a different provider.
