Review summary
48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
Constantly issues.
Today I couldn't make calls via Whatsapp, as they were constantly interrupted. A few seconds were fine and then they were suddenly lost. First I thought that was on side of my friend as I had a full signal rebooted the phone and other apps were working fine. But then I got a message from the WhatsApp app "Couldn't place a call because your phone's cellular network prevents WhatsApp calls. Try connecting to Wi-Fi and call again." After investigating that I found that this is the 48 network problem.
Also before I had serious issues with roaming abroad (neither calls, texts nor the Internet didn't work at all) and support was unable to fix it. Later they sent an email to everyone and said they are aware of the problem and it will be fixed in up to 8 weeks!
I had the 10€ "membership" and I am moving out. Even when they fix it I won't be back as I would have to pay more later on.
Coverage is good in the south, if you are roaming in northern Ireland, don't bother as it won't work. There are loads of posts on 48 community about this but they don't seem to be interested if fixing this problem
Good network overall, however you’re stuck with 3G when you go abroad which is a bit disappointing.
A lot of countries have retired their 3G networks which could leave some people a bit stuck.
Can’t fault the value for money though.
Rubbish data coverage in Ireland which is just not good enough. Also roaming used to work in the UK and France but just stopped working a few months ago. Avoid
Excellent network in Ireland but a total disaster while roaming. Once work, sometimes not. Might ruin your holidays. Best to get proper sim from providing network as backup.
I was left with no phone coverage at all on a recent trip to Italy. I was cycling in the alps and was worried if I had a break down or accident I had no way of contacting anyone. No costomer service, spent hours in the hotel trying to fix the problem with WiFi, in the end I just gave up. If you intend to travel change network or don't join. Why can't I leave zero star
