The 2026 Home & Garden report
Home and garden is the category where the gap between marketing promise and delivery reality is widest. A product that photographs beautifully on a retailer's website can arrive damaged, late, or in three separate boxes spread across two weeks — and the customer's rating is almost always written from inside that frustration, not from inside the showroom. The 2026 ranking reflects that reality: the retailers at the top of CrowdTrust's list are not necessarily the cheapest or the most fashionable, but the ones whose customers consistently received what they ordered, on time, and in usable condition.
We weighted reviews describing delivery, assembly, warranty claims, and post-purchase support more heavily than reviews of showroom or browsing experiences. Furniture and large appliances in particular live or die on the last mile — a $2,400 sectional sofa is only as good as the two-person team that carries it up the stairs without scratching the wall.
The other defining shift in 2026 is the steady tightening of return windows, restocking fees, and "white-glove" delivery surcharges that were either free or unmentioned in 2023. Retailers who absorbed these costs gained share; those who passed them on without warning lost it.
