The 2026 Beauty & Well-being report
The beauty and wellbeing category in 2026 looks fundamentally different from its 2022 self. Three forces have rewritten the buyer journey: science-first dermatologist and aesthetician voices on TikTok and YouTube have eroded the credibility of unqualified influencer endorsements; clean-beauty marketing has been challenged by FDA enforcement actions and Sephora's own ingredient-transparency push; and the boundary between cosmetics, OTC drugs, and medical aesthetics has blurred to the point where consumers regularly ask whether their moisturiser should be prescribed.
CrowdTrust's 2026 ranking reflects this shift. Brands that publish clinical study results, third-party ingredient testing, and patch-test data outscore brands relying on celebrity endorsements or "clean" claims, often by a full star or more. The same pattern holds for service businesses: salons and spas with licensed practitioners who explain procedures in detail rate consistently higher than premium-priced concept stores that prioritise atmosphere over expertise.
For consumers evaluating beauty and wellbeing brands in 2026, the most useful filter is not price tier or brand prestige. It is whether the brand or provider can substantiate its claims with evidence you can inspect. The top-rated brands and providers in this year's ranking nearly all share that one trait.
