Kelly McDermott is the perfect host agent showing us round. All the communications beforehand very good too. Thank you Thornley Groves for providing an most efficient service so far.
Lois McGuinness was incredibly informative and helpful as we explored the house. She explained the entire process clearly and helped deepened my understanding of getting a mortgage as a first time buyer. I felt comfortable to ask any questions and was content with her informative answers! Looking forward to continue working with her :)
Very professional and responsive when arranging and managing our rental property. Really quick to sort out repairs too when we first moved in.

This is going to be very long because of how much trouble these people have caused. I want to start by saying that I know some people leave bad reviews and some leave good ones so people tend to ignore bad reviews. But i beg you from the bottom of my heart PLEASE take what I’m saying into consideration because it is very very serious and I genuinely wish i could break my contract and move out. For reference, I live in The Lightwell in St Ann’s Square. First of all, when I came to view the flats, the woman who was showing me around said that there is a concierge in the building in case someone gets locked out and to receive parcels. After signing the lease, I ordered things like a couch, cutlery, plates etc. and they arrived while i wasn’t there. I called to ask if someone could let them in because my couch was left outside on the street and they said no. I spoke to Eve Kelly, the woman who did the house viewing, and she said i lied about her telling me that there was a concierge. Second of all, after moving in, I realised that there were so many issues with the flat. There was mould inside the washing machine, the coffee table was (and still is) broken, the heater doesn’t work, the toilet seat moves, the table legs were wobbly, the sealing lights are about to fall off, the hob was not properly stuck onto the counter top, and finally the carpet and couch had a foul smell. They still have not fixed the coffee table, the heater, and the lights and my washing machine recently stopped working. My clothes have been soaking in water for the past two weeks and they still haven’t done anything. Third of all, when I went back home for summer, there was a leak from the upstairs flat. The firemen broke into my flat by breaking the locks on my door even though I denied them access. This was four months ago. I still have a hole in my wall and damaged walls. After this incident happened, they changed the lock on my door and didn’t make a spare key to keep with them in case of emergency. I ended up locking myself out of my flat by mistake and they had to call a locksmith to open my door. I was told that if the locksmith manages to pick my lock then i wouldn’t have to pay. The locksmith ended up picking my lock and he told me that he asked my property manager, Katie Garner, to tell me that i needed 90£ in cash to pay him. I payed 90£ in cash for a man to pick my lock in two minutes because the agency failed to do their job by having an extra key to the lock they had to replace because they broke into my flat. Fourth of all, my neighbour was literally arrested. I saw her throw pots at a man and she was armed. The police had to break her door down and they arrested her and hand cuffed her on my door. In addition, the flat above me was broken into during the summer because someone climbed on scaffolding and broke in through the windows. Fifth of all, yesterday, the entrance door to the building was broken and left wide open all day for anyone to walk in. They came to fix it at 11:30pm and ended up making the door unable to open at all. It does not open from the inside nor from the outside. We are now forced to leave and enter the building through the back door fire exit which is located near rubbish bins in a sort of alley way where homeless people usually sleep and where the scaffolding mentioned earlier is. They’ve put door stoppers to keep both fire exit doors open again for anyone to walk in. Finally, I just wanted to add that these people are the least helpful and communicative people. Let’s say i’ve called them around 20 times so far, they’ve only replied 3/20 times. They don’t reply to emails and voicemails cannot be left because their “inbox is full” and they have never returned any of my calls. I have spoken to 4 residents and they have all told me that these people have been giving them such a hard time. I hope this helps anyone change their mind about moving into this building.
Doug, Colette and the team from Thornley's sold our house for us recently, Colette leading. At all times we were kept fully aware of how things were getting on. The property had tenants in it, and they too were impressed with the service they received. We had three viewing days and were provided with feedback very quickly after each on, without having to chase. Everything went very smoothly, and we would definitely recommend the Altrincham team. Many thanks to all, especially Colette!!
Liam and the team have really upheld a gold standard of estate agent practice - helpful, diligent and always keeping in touch to ensure that there's transparency of information. I highly recommend them.
We had a viewing with Kelly McDermott over the weekend. She was friendly, thoroughly engaged in our conversation, understood our requirements and able to answer all of our questions with ease.
Karen Filson has been supporting my wife and I in trying to find a new property, and we have now been successful in locating a place. My wife and I had a lot of specific requests for a place and Karen has been very helpful, patient, and just overall made us feel valued as customers. We have been renting with Thornley Groves over the last year, but have to say that Karen has gone above and beyond to ensure we felt supported and had a specific person we could speak to, to take care of us through the stress of trying to find a place in these very competitive times. Thank you Karen.
My experience with Daniel Garlick spans over a good over two years. He has been a very responsive, helpful, trustworthy problem solver. I don't hesitate in taking his advice on house letting, repair, and various payment issues. He has always been prompt in handling all sorts of property related requests and in timely resolution of issues. Thank you so much.
