I have travelled with RSD a few times and have never had a bad experience. An excellent way of seeing a country at an affordable price.
Went to Sri Lanka with RSD - fantastic countryside, amazing friendly people, good hotels and an amazing journey around the country in all its guises - one of the best trips of my life (I travel 10 mths a year) - why so good - people, no hassles of any kind going out, low cost economy, wonderful weather - an absolute gem of a holiday full of variety with something for everyone.
We had a wonderful holiday seeing so many UNESCO sites in Kosova, North Macedonia, Montenegro & Albania. Except for the last one, which was a little bit "Soviet era", the hotels were lovely with excellent food, very comfortable indeed. Our Turkish guide Gdoikca went above & beyond to help all passengers on her coach, even rescuing a hearing aid, which had fallen out in Cafe Mozart in Budva, Montenegro & organising for someone to drive it to our hotel at least 2 hours away so we had it before the coach left next morning.

We're just back from our second holiday with RSD. The first one was a fabulous trip to the UAE and this one (June 2019) was to South Africa. Yes, it can be slightly inconvenient not knowing the exact flight times until relatively close to the departure date, but that's one of the things we accept as it allows us to benefit from the great prices that RSD offer. Perhaps it's just coming from Scotland that makes us accept that we nearly always have to travel south anyway to catch a flight, no matter who we're travelling with, so we travel down a day early, stay in a hotel near the airport and make that part of our holiday. We were expecting to enjoy the South Africa trip, but have to say that it far exceeded our expectations. Our three hotels were all excellent, with great food and friendly staff, huge comfy beds, beautiful surroundings, lovely swimming pools, excellent standards of cleanliness - all can be highly recommended. We bought the extra gourmet package to have all our evening meals included, as we had done on the Emirates trip and it was well worth the money - Β£129 each, if I remember correctly. Our guide in the south was absolutely brilliant, a great personality and gave us just the right amount of unbiased information we needed. The visits we went on were fantastic, up Table Mountain by cable car, the Cape of Good Hope, penguin "hunting", a river cruise from Knysna, a township and really made the holiday. The highlight of the northern part of the tour was, of course, the Kruger National Park where we managed to spot four out of the Big 5, along with numerous other animals and birds. It was just unbelievably beautiful and moving. Other highlights included seeing and interacting with a wedding party - such friendly people - in the Union Building Gardens in Pretoria, a braii on our last evening, peacocks wandering in the gardens of our Pretoria lodge hotel, everything was just out of this world. Yes, there was a lot of ground to cover in such a short space of time, but we could never have made it this far or seen so much if it hadn't been for the great organisation by RSD Travel and their packed itinerary. This included a wine tasting and a liqueur tasting as well as a visit to a shop selling aloe vera products. However, there was a great atmosphere on all these visits and absolutely none of the hard-sell tactics of the Cyprus / Dubai / Greece holidays. We would not hesitate to recommend these RSD holidays and, in particular, South Africa and the Dubai / Abu Dhabi / Ajman trip.

We have had many holidays with RSD. Turkey (more than once) Cyprus (more than once) Rhodes, South Africa and Morocco. We are looking forward to India later this year 2019. You do get exactly what is offered on the 'basic' priced trips - ie. flights from airport of your choice (regional and seasonal supplements do apply as they do with other holiday companies). Plus basic tours as listed, and bed and breakfast accommodation. The tours always offer the chance to purchase - if you wish - items of locally produced goods. Everything is your choice. The opportunity to visit factories and workshops and accept the hospitality given is part of the culture, on what are cultural trips. Sit back listen learn and enjoy!

Be careful booking tours with this company. They take you to leather, carpet and jewellery factories. They are a con. We were shown a ruby ring (Β£2700) which we refused to buy. Then a necklace which we bought for Β£900 pounds then they said we could have the ruby ring and necklace all for Β£1600. We were tempted and bought them both. When we got home the two items were worth Β£300 between them. We went on the holiday because of the huge discount they offered. I can now see why they offer such discounts. They rip you off in these factory tours. I heard a couple bought a Β£6000 Turkish carpet. When they got home they discovered it was a Chinese silk carpet worth about Β£500. Iβm sure there are many more horror stories. Be careful when booking with this company.

We booked an RSD trip to Crete offered in our weekly subscription of The Week. It looked and sounded good value and we signed up for the meal package and insurance policy. Although we couldn't sit together on the way out and the flight went via Manchester, frankly this didn't bother us as we were on holiday and we were met at heraklion by friendly reps who ushered us onto coaches and gave us a warm welcome. We had never been on a coach tour and didn't know what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised. The first hotel at Georgiopoli was lovely and the buffet very good considering the number of guests! The manager was outstanding and the staff friendly. The daily excursions were well arranged and everything ran like clockwork. I know Crete so we did our own thing for lunches in the town's we visited and we thoroughly enjoyed our guide Rizza who was fabulously knowledgeable and friendly really sharing so much of interest with us. Although the second hotel (marina hotel) in heraklion was far from even 4 star, it wasn't too bad and we slept well and enjoyed friendly staff and okay food. For the money, you really cannot complain as it was a cheap holiday with nothing to worry about. We bought some rugs but you didn't have to so can just walk through bit the gem factory was a really hard sell and had me in tears as they felt very forceful and intimidating the way they took you into side rooms woth sofas where the big boss tried to wear you down and sell! As it reminded me of something from my past I burst into tears and we left quickly... had they been less forceful we may have bought a ring as they were goegeous. I did but a beautiful leather jacket from.the leather factory for a good price although others paid muxh nearer the original price which was ridiculous ie 1900 euros! Some of the coach trip were fed up with having extras such as the spinalonga and knossos trips to pay for but to be honest they were worth it and having such a great guide was more than worth the amount paid. In general we would say despite the downmarlet second hotel, this was a good value and thoroughly enjoyable holiday and everything worked like clockwork. We would go again and recommend. Don't go if you're a winger as there will be irritants!

We went on a cultural trip to Crete in March. There were lots of irritants but my main complaint was about the high pressurised selling at the carpet/leather/jewellery factories. In particular the jewellery factory I had to keep saying no for 20 minutes by the sales person & her manager. Each visit was a minimum of 2 hours with the exits carefully concealed. The guide was very knowledgeable but he also majored on the fact that our trip was being subsidised by the Greek government so tourist would spend in local industries. Needless to say this was not mentioned. The first hotel and staff was excellent but the second one - the staff were rude both at the desk and in the restaurant and were vert unhelpful. I did write an extensive feedback form and sent it to the company to get a very bland letter saying very little of substance. Won't ever travel with this company again.

I enquired several years ago about a holiday san have subsequently been regularly bombarded with letters offering me more phenominally discounted holidays. Despite repeated requests to stop sending me this junk mail, another arrived yesterday. I phoned again today and a most aggressive "Customer Service Agent" responded; if this is their good(???)cCustomer service, I'd hate to have a real problem with them on a holiday. I will see if I am removed from their database as requested!!!

I have had 2 holidays with this company, the second having been booked before going on the first. As hotels are allocated on arrival felt it prudent to book the additional buffet dinner package at Β£129 each for 7 nights. The first tour was to Crete, had to fly via Manchester, not informed of this at time of booking! On arrival at our hotel, around 9pm, they had kindly held a buffet for us which was lovely. We had been asked to go straight in so the staff could get home which was fine BUT our luggage was unpacked from the coach and left in the pouring rain. Rooms here felt damp and cold and the open plan bathroom meant after each shower it was awash and incredibly slippery, very dangerous. The 2nd hotel of this 2 centre holiday had lovely rooms but the food and service was not as good. Good tour guides but the optional extra packages are not worth the money. In some instances, ie the palace and museum you can pay for at the door for a fraction of the price. BE CAREFUL. Northern Cyprus was our second trip. Both hotel rooms were good but food in both very mediocre. Our arrival was so late we were left a roll in room which we put in the bin. That was one night's dinner, one seventh of Β£129! On arrival at the coach we were near the back, partly due to my sister's walking being a bit slow. That meant that every day, due to people taking up their original seats we were at the back, something the guide in Crete didn't allow, he insisted on everyone moving around the coach each day. As a result we were always last off the coach and the guide had already set off at a pace and we never caught up, resulting in us not being able to see most of the sights. BUT the biggest bug of both trips was the carpet, leather and jewellery factories that we were forced to enter, unable to find the way out and endured hard sell for overpriced items. Both holidays, exactly the same factories, same products and same claims, all taking a couple of hours apiece. Yes that is a con in my opinion. Would I use this company again? Probably not

Recently enjoyed a trip to Northern Italy (party of 5) with RSD (March 2019). Absolutely superb throughout. As with most RSD tours (our 7th) very much a tour not a holiday as such. Visited some wonderful sights and gained a meaningful insight into this centre of the renaissance. A fair bit of walking involved, so there is a need to be fairly mobile. The price was good value for money and the tour guide (and city guides) were really top class. I would thoroughly recommend this tour and RSD travel. We feel it is always worthwhile to book all the extras on the tours, makes life easier in the long run. Will certainly be using RSD travel again.

Just returned from Abu Dhabi and Dubai trip, Iβll start with the good stuff: 1. Flights were on time. 2. Hotels were excellent. 3. Weather was good. Bad stuff: Had to change in Istanbul, werenβt told this until a week before. This made the journey long. Arrived in AD at 1am and taken to hotel, got to bed about 3am. First thing next morning was the reps meeting where there was a reasonably hard sell, half our group werenβt taken in by the trips on offer and more to the point the prices quoted. We hooked up with another equally sceptical couple and did our own tours of AD and Dubai, cabs are really cheap and safe. Mosque in AD is amazing and entry is free (donβt get fooled by the Β£129 package on offer from the rep) as was the Mall in Dubai. Did the Burj Khalifa ourselves by booking tickets on my phone at the hotel, saved a fortune on the RSD price. I then googled the other βoptionalβ tours on offer (Safari etc) and they were at least a quarter of the prices quoted by the rep. The other catch is the βfreeβ tours to the carpet, jewellery and leather outlets as part of the transfer between hotels, this uses up most of the day. To avoid this we told the rep weβd make our own way by cab, this cost a fiver each and gave us the whole day on the beach at the next hotel. So basically the price of the trip is great but be savvy, google the prices and entry fees, use cabs and the fantastic metro in Dubai, take nothing the rep says at face value. If you do that youβll have a great holiday at a great price.

We have been with RSD twice and the experience was EXCELLENT value for money. I cannot understand what the whingers expect for the price they paid for a 7 day holiday with flights, trips, accommodation and breakfast included. This a grea, cheap way to have a well conducted cultural trip around fascinating areas of the world. My advice. Go for it, donβt expect anything much for the price an be pleasantly surprised. DONT go if you are not physically fit. Lots of walking over terrain which is not always flat
