Cabin staff, very disrespected

Cabin was not cleaned on arrival, with dirty used bedding, full bin, dirty bathroom and half used fridge with open items inside, we spoke to reception as we assumed it was a mistake, who asked us to leave the cabin for an hour or so while the cleaning team went in, we were explained to that embarkation was a very busy time and sometimes things get missed, we understood this ofcourse. We then went back a bit later when we were then told it had been cleaned, but only the bed had been remade with the same dirty bedding, nothing else had been cleaned and bins and fridge still not done, sticky smears still all over the bathroom and cupboards, even the cups in the teaboat area were still dirty. We ofcoursed then mentioned this again to reception, who notified cleaning staff manager to meet us at the cabin. The cleaning staff manager met us there after almost an hour of us being told to wait there for him, he arrived with the cabin cleaner, it was at this point we were treated and spoken to so rudely by cabin cleaning staff and the cleaning staff manager even though the manager agreed it had not been cleaned, but seemed annoyed with us for mentioning it. And the cleaner was so rude and dismissive to us too. We were thwn asked to leave the cabin and wait again. Eventually, over 5 hours after boarding, we were finally allowed to go back to our cabin. The bed was changed finally, and cabin did appear to have been cleaned finally, but the bed was scattered with dark short hairs which seemed very deliberate. It was repulsive. We told reception but asked for cleaners to please not do it again as we did not feel we could trust them, we cleaned it ourselves and we asked only, for a different person to clean the cabin for the rest of the week if possible, or even for a different cabin, as we felt targeted by the person assigned to ours. This did not happen. All week we felt unsafe, sleeping in a room uncleaned, we felt disrespected and honestly quite bullied, every day missing items from the room, like teaspoons and sugar one day and towels the next, having to reclean the cabin ourselves each evening and being stared at rudely by the cabin cleaner in the hallway , and all because we spoke to reception about the cabin not being cleaned when we first arrived. After 4 cruises on Virtuosa, we would not return again! It was such a shame, because other than the cabin cleaner and cleaning manager, the rest of the staff about the ship were very lovely. But the cruel cleaning staff ruined this. Even as we disembarked, my suitcase arrived damaged, broken in 2 places where it appeared to have been either thrown or jumped on (it's a hardshell so doesn't break easy!) and my partners suitcase had a hazardous materials suit shoved in the side of it that obviously placed there by cleaning staff, once again, we were bullied and ridiculed by the cleaning team. We were perfectly polite throughout, and asked only to be given a clean cabin as we had always had before, but unfortunately, that request on day one, placed a target on our heads then to be treated awfully all week! We were humiliated, upset and afraid all week to relax in our own rooms, the whole week sadly was overshadowed by this. Never again.

Ship was lovely

Ship was lovely, almost all staff were brilliant too. Feeding time in the buffet was like feeding time at the zoo. Quality of the food I thought could have been better, but that said it was nice to escape the crowds by going into the dining room on an evening. The pizza was very nice on board. Hard to get seating on an evening in any of the bars. Would I give it another try, yeah possibly, but I'd be sure not to go if Shetland was one of the stops.
