Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

Perfect for the money

Perfect for the money. If we don't look at the price, it could be faster. What I want is a stupid app that attaches idrive resources as a virtual network drive and nothing else. There is no need for a document reader or online collaboration, which one of the competitors went for completely unnecessarily.

Unbeatable value

I needed a place to recover a crashed 5TB drive to, and despite the process being not quite as seamless as a drag-and-drop cloud drive their trial price sure beats buying a spare 5TB drive. Plus once I get the drive recovered and set to back up to iDrive properly it'll be just what I need. So far so good.

Extremely Happy!

More storage and more affordable than competitors, I now have my entire teaching material up there and feel way safer than just relying on physical backups.

Tailored plans and easy to use

I picked iDrive because it had a good reputation and it was easy to purchase a plan that was tailored to my needs (i.e. two computers and 5 TB storage). Also, the price was very reasonable. The software is easy to navigate, and I was quickly able to set up automatic backups.

I've been using IDrive for a while to…

I've been using IDrive for a while to keep all my important data securely backep up in the cloud. All you have to do is install the app, select the folders you want to back up, set a schedule if you want... and that's it. Your data safely storaged. And for the price... the best option, no brainer.

Nice console but I found I had to be…

Nice console but I found I had to be online to open it. It took 19 hours for a local BU of 300GB! Also I had to turn Bitlocker off.

Got it to replace another product

Started using IDrive because another product I was using stopped working properly. So far it is doing what I want to do but still tweaking it to get exactly the back up I want.

My experience with the IDrive & Synology…

My experience with the IDrive Synology app has been a bit problematic, first I was not able to even use the app until support provided a file and instructions in order to fix the Host Name Issue. My next issue was none of my scheduled backups would run, another support ticket and that issue was fixed. My current issue is that the IDrive app is maxing out the CPU on the NAS even when no files are being updated. I created a 3rd support ticket last night but have not yet received a response. So I went looking for another solution and found that IDrive e2 and Synology Cloud Sync / Hyper Backup will work much better for my needs. Unfortunately e2 is much more costly than the standard IDrive once the 1st year promotion ends. Bottom line I am still an IDrive customer at least for a year.

Sluggish and complicated

I've found iDrive to be sluggish and quite a resource and battery drain on my apple macbook pro. The web interface is decent but no ability to download multiple files at the same time.
