Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

Five star - very easy to understand!

In general a very good service, with an interface that’s very easy to understand. I’m pretty sure the slow backup of my massive external HD (1 TB) is due to our slow internet connection at home.

Peace of Mind

After looking around for several options for data storage and backup, we chose IDrive for its lower costs and large amounts of storage. It's given us peace of mind to know our photos and videos are uploaded and able to be accessed while leaving our phones with more space.

Horrible service

Horrible service. The guy on chat knew nothing, I asked him a bunch of questions he said he would get back to me - the come back didn't answer any of my questions. He was going to ask the 'tech team'...I think he just waited a couple of days, didn't bother to contact the tech team - and replied with 'everything is ok'. Since I only paid $3.95 for 10TB for 1 year how can I complain, right? I only see this as a stop gap measure until I switch to another cloud system.

idrive saved my files

I was struggling for storage to be able to backup while fixing my hard drive partitions and this service provided a very generous amount of storage for a bargain price which allowed me to safely store everything in one place. The only suggestion for improvement that I have is that downloading the entire folder instead of each individual file would be much better and less tiresome. Would still definitely recommend.

So far so good! The layout is simple and steps to back up are as simple as A-B-C. I love how seamless the sync is and how you are able to back up phones into the cloud. Totally worth every penny.

Quick support response

My experience with IDrive has been really great. I found it easy to use and when something did not work I got personal support quickly. I don't like the bot experience that I get with Acronis software. If it takes too much of my time to get an answer on how to use or fix something I don't like it. So far IDrive has been very easy to setup and use for both my pc and mobile phone backup.

I had high hopes for this program, shame about the outcome

I had high hopes for this program. I Googled "best cloud backup software for home user" and idrive came top of many of the comparison sites. So I paid for a year, downloaded the software, and started backing up. What a disappointment. It got slower and slower. During the almost week it took to, hopefully, backup my computer, approx 3TB, Windows decided to do an update and then restarted my computer. I assumed that when I restarted idrive that it would continue from where it go to, no chance. It had started from the beginning again. It got slower and slower - the "time to complete kept going up and up" -- then it stopped altogether and never proceeded beyond that file. It's still showing that it's only 90% backed up. When I check online it appears to have backed up most of my files but I'm not going to restart the backup, can't face it sitting there for days on end. I definitely won't be continuing my subscription and actually regret buying the product.
