Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

Switched from Carbonite to IDrive

Switched from Carbonite to IDrive. The ability to backup all my phones and a computer to a single account is very helpful and keeps my data safe in the event that my equipment fails. I had questions that support was able to answer quickly and that got me on the right track.

The manager got to me promptly within 3 hours of shooting an email with questions. He advised on functionality and offered a discount. The soft is easy to install. Backup is running smoothly.

First trip to the cloud

I needed a secure backup tool for my family's photos and files, so I decided to give IDrive a try. The initial backup was slow and long - I'm talking days for my under 1TB of data. Not sure if that was my connection or something else. But once the first round was done I have been very happy with the effortless daily backups. No experience at this point with restoring lost data, but hoping it's as easy as they say (and hoping I'll never need it!).

For 4 dollars, I signed up for one year....

4 dollars for my first year for 10tb back up and a seperate 10tb cloud folder which syncs in it's entirety on each computer. iDrive please make the cloud folder "on-demand" like OneDrive...where I don't need to have terabytes of hard drive space one each device which syncs with the cloud folder....just download what use in real time... Year 2 price is $80, I will shop around ahead of time. 5 stars for now at this price - at full price I would rate 4 stars.

Finally the right balance

I also bounced around some other backup services and - this is the easiest and most economical set-and-forget-it choice. Most of the competitors tend to backup really slowly, or limit choices on snapshots, or cost a lot for larger backups as you add machines and drives. iDrive manages to be wildly inexpensive and still blazingly fast. The UI is a bit crude and basic, with slow search - which I'd found with some competitors, as well. But that to me was the only area that could benefit from a refresh, and navigating the file tree is still speedy. Definitely recommend this over the others, and agree with editorial recommendations of the same.

What I Needed

So far, I absolutely love IDrive. It has more than enough room to upload all of my files, and even after the introductory price is over, the subscription rate seems very fair. I'll amend this review if I feel that things change in the future, but for now, IDrive is exactly what I needed.

iDrive on Synology

Installed iDrive on Synology and have an issue right away similar as hostname not recognized or such. Got in contact with iDrive support and they helped me in a moment and advised with the right solution. From that time I am happy user of iDrive.
