Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

Thank you Conor

We are two elderly ladies, one with a disability, and were in Galway having issues with our hire car, battery and tyres. A young employee called Conor was the MOST helpful, polite and efficient. I can’t tell you how relieved we were and thankful for his kind attention. Thanks Halfords and Conor

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

I was served by Ethan in Halfords Chippenham this morning. It was absolutely first rate service: responsive, quick, knowledgeable and friendly.

Jack, Nathan & Bracknell Halfords Team =)

Metaphorically speaking I've been part of the furniture at Bracknell Halfords since summer of 2021 I think with multiple cycles that got trashed/thrown away after lots of cycling across various town, city and country side areas. I'm trying to give a badass mention to Jack & Nathan of the Bracknell Halfords Team who've consistently been badass, badass, badass: full on badass style for donkeys years now. Other guys have also been solid: Jack & Nathan have acted as the guys who've consistently been there for years with the badass style while various others have come and gone over the years. Also, in case it helps as a potentially sentimental thing just in case I ever get famous so to speak: I've tried to credit them in my "cycle got fixed" video on my beginner YouTube channel @razabadass. Raza =)

Halfords website is awful

Halfords website is awful. How can you in 2025 have such an antiquated website? You must lose so many customers, they either fall asleep or lose the will to live. It is SO slow, it should be loading far more than 12 items on each page. Seriously Halfords get yourselves a professional website that is fast. Stop putting pop ups on saying what other people are looking at, who cares, I only want to see what I want to buy. I like Halfords as they have some good people working for them and I would rather have given them 5* but this website is never going to get you good feedback, sadly. You must read what people are saying about your website or sadly they will go elsewhere. Wake up Halfords, before it’s too late.

Terrible instore queues and indifference to customers

Went for headlight bulb replacement (Leics, Abbey Park). Terrible queues. Waited in a queue for 15 mins to register I was there. That process in itself (him entering my order number) took over 5 mins because he kept getting involved in a conversation with a colleague about something else - how rude.. Guy did replacement in about 2 minutes (which I have done myself in the past but it was raining and I was on my way somewhere). That bit was ok. But I needed a different bulb to the one paid for and had to wait another 20 mins to update payment. People had been waiting for ages eg one guy was waiting for dash cam fitting only to be told it had been done 20 mins ago! Blinking joke!

Terrible website I now have a monthly…

Terrible website I now have a monthly direct debit set up with the finance company but no bikes and when you try to speak to the customer service advisors about this they are unable to help and I am now left unable to complete the order and the only option available to me is to cancel the finance. I now have a very upset little boy who it seems isn't going to be able to get the bike he was promised and now I'm going to have to spend time and money speaking to the finance company to cancel the direct debit because even the people who work for Halfords seem unable to process an order for us on their own system.

Terrible quality tools

Terrible - I ordered a set of ratchet spanners from their professional range with a lifetime guarantee(£91), they arrived broken and in pieces, and were obviously poor quality if a metal spanner couldnt make it through the delivery process without falling to bits. Halfords customer service were terrible, no one called back, no offer of a replacement, after 2 weeks of waiting I ended up driving miles to a store to get a refund. I'm now selling my other Halford tools and will never use the brand again - if you need decent tools go to a specialist

Excellent service

Tom at the Leamington Spa Halfords was brilliant today when I went about a warning light that had started to come on. He checked the dipstick and found out which oil was appropriate for the make and model of car, and then filled it up for me. Tom was knowledgeable and friendly and I would definitely recommend both him and Halfords. Thank you again Tom for helping us and so quickly.

Ridiculous that you buy a bike in store…

Ridiculous that you buy a bike in store for £435 only to find it on Halfords website for £348 1 hour after purchase. I went back into store and one store assistant said we can do price match only for manager to dismiss this so I cancelled the order all together. Please note: there a numerous products cheaper on their website than in store, what's the point? Will be taking my business elsewhere.

They hate customers

Use the web site to check for an item. It does not say if in stock or not. Phoned the store after 2 mins of options. Select the option to check store stock. It then says check this on our web site and good bye. Rubbish
