Review summary
First Home Improvements is exceptionally well-rated by customers. Customers particularly appreciate professional and service, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.
We have already had our front bay windows re-done; this decided us to go further with others. We were very happy with your representative who visited, and we were happy enough to agree to go ahead with the further work.
Had a great conversation with the original visit. All options were explored and an acceptable solution was chosen. Shortly afterwards received a call to book the technical survey and then the install. The survey was quick, professional and detailed. The install was amazing. 2 fitters arrived at the time they were supposed to, conducted a quick inspection then cracked on with the install. Install complete and the fitters cleaned up after themselves, demonstrated window operation and ensured I was fully happy. I was so impressed I actually ordered a further install and received the same level of service. I’d highly recommend.
Fantastic service from sales to survey and installation. Couldn't be happier with the results - exactly what we hoped for for our home. Two new doors and three windows perfectly fitted. Elevating the look and feel of our home as part of updating and replacing very old ones.
Having worked in the building industry for over 50 years, it was a pleasure to see courteous, dedicated tradesmen at work
Jamie Jerkovic and Jack Cunneen should be recommended.
The company was helpful when contacted the quoted dates were spot on
I would recommend the company to many people
Very very pleased.

I don’t usually write reviews—honestly, I’m too lazy and like an easy life where possible—but my experience with First Home Improvements (FHI) has been so disappointing that I’ve not been able to avoid leaving a negative review.
It started off with a few hiccups that I was happy to overlook. One window arrived partially damaged—annoying, but they replaced it quickly without much fuss, so no big deal. Another window had turned up completely the wrong size, which they only realized after they’d ripped out the old one. They had to shove the old window back in, leaving gaps in the brickwork that let some cold air into the house. This was mid-December, so not exactly ideal timing. Still, mistakes happen, and I wasn’t ready to write them off yet—they promised a new window in a couple of weeks.
Next, our brand-new French doors started leaking water into the living room every time it rained. Our old doors were ancient, difficult to open/close, and let out heat like nobody’s business, but at least they didn’t let water in. Again, I put it down to teething problems.
What finally changed things for me was when they demanded payment despite the job being a mess: a cracked window upstairs, a botched temporary window downstairs letting in the winter chill, and water coming through the French doors with every downpour. This was all while they couldn’t even give me a firm date to come back and fix things. They’d also assured me payment wouldn’t be taken until the work was complete, but yeah, obviously not I guess.
That’s when I lodged a complaint. They offered a Goodwill Payment (at 0.5% of the total job cost) and set a date to sort things out. The gesture was small but appreciated, so I thought maybe we were turning a corner.
Turns out we weren’t. They came back, replaced the cracked window upstairs, fitted the correctly sized one downstairs, and “looked at” the leaking doors—couldn’t figure out why they were leaking but told us to “monitor it.” Shocker: it leaked again. And again. Every single time it rained.
They also promised the goodwill payment would be in my account ‘shortly’. The new year came and went—nothing. A month later, still nothing. I contacted them, they said they’d “chase it up” and send a technician for the door (and now also a loose window part that had decided to join the party).
The technician fixed the window part, tinkered with the door, and declared it ‘sorted’. Two days later it rained, lo and behold more water in the living room. Also still no goodwill payment either. After more back-and-forth, the project manager called, baffled that I hadn’t been paid, only to discover they’d somehow recorded the wrong bank details—despite me sending the right details, as backed up by looking back at my correspondence. Another FHI fumble.
Two months after it was offered, I finally got the 0.5% goodwill payment. Meanwhile, the French doors? Still leaking to this day. They’ve promised to “assess it again” whenever we can next align schedules which is difficult given that my partner and I both work full time.
On the plus side, they did a decent job with our awkward front door, and whoever’s answering their phones has been polite and helpful through my many, many calls. But that’s where the positives end. I hate complaining, and I really hate that I’ve had to waste time writing this, but if you’re considering First Home Improvements, proceed with caution. You might end up with a leaking house and a lighter wallet, wondering why you bothered.
We recently had First Home Improvements install new double-glazed windows in our home, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the entire experience. From start to finish, their professionalism, quality, and customer care exceeded my expectations, making them a standout choice for anyone considering home improvements.
**Outstanding Service & Expertise**
Right from the initial consultation, the team was attentive and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the different options, tailored their recommendations to my needs, and provided a transparent, competitive quote with no hidden costs. There was no pressure to commit—just honest, friendly advice.
**High-Quality Product**
The windows themselves are exceptional. Not only do they enhance the aesthetic of my home with their sleek design, but the difference in energy efficiency is remarkable. I’ve noticed a significant reduction in drafts, and my heating bills have already dropped. The soundproofing benefits are an added bonus.
**Flawless Installation**
The installation crew arrived punctually, worked efficiently, and treated my home with respect. They were meticulous in their work, kept the area clean, and took care to avoid disrupting my daily routine. The project was completed on schedule, and they even did a thorough walkthrough afterward to ensure I was satisfied.
**Exceptional Aftercare**
What truly sets this company apart is their commitment to customer satisfaction. A week after installation, they followed up to check if everything was working perfectly and the cover of the 12 year warranty
It’s reassuring to know they stand by their products long-term.
**Great Value for Money**
The quality and service justified every penny spent. This is an investment in comfort and savings that pays off over time.
**Final Thoughts**
If you’re looking for a reliable, customer-focused double glazing company, look no further. First Home Improvements delivers on every promise with expertise and a smile. I wholeheartedly recommend them to neighbors, friends, and anyone seeking top-tier home improvements.
Fully professional experience. From the sales person, surveyor and through to the 2 fitters Damien & Chris. The fitters were very friendly, (even bringing dog treats to my 2 labradors). They explained the whole process and ran us through everything. The new conservatory now stands proud in the neighbourhood.
We had a couple of minor problems with our window/door installation and had to call the company to come and fix these. Jade D was the service engineer and he was fabulous! He was friendly and professional and even fixed another small issue that we hadn’t even noticed - so, above and beyond service here - many thanks, Jade at First Home Improvements 👍🏻👍🏻
I had 5 windows fitted and they were fitted very well. Had a Dutch barn door fitted a few years later. A job well done, my only bugbear is the end of the trim keeps falling off, it’s such a small thing, even I tried gluing and it still does it.
First home improvements were curtious and polite from the start, the visiting sales man Max, the staff on the phone, the surveyor Andy all very polite and helpful. The fitter Mike Taylor arrived promptly on time and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing and satisfying experience, his attention to details was exemplary, leaving my property in a very clean and tidy condition after his work was completed.
I would highly recommend first home improvements if all the staff are like the ones we had dealings with, I am a very satisfied customer.

We are very happy with the design and installation of the windows. Jamie and Jack were very professional and courteous, they did a great job, left no damage, cleared up and finished the job as per agreed timeline.
