EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

Avoid at all costs !

Avoid at all costs. This company customer service is atrocious. I had someone come to do an annual service, could not complete it and said he would return, I am now 4 months in. He clicked the job as being complete so now I am getting daily demands for payment for a service that has not been done. I have also had an email threatening me with court action, today a final reminder by text. If you call, all their representatives work from home and cannot transfer to speak to a manager.

AVOID

AVOID! Resin has leaked from the softener into my whole plumbing system. Has caused issues with all my appliances, dishwater, washing machine, boiler. Plumbing bill alone was £500 and I paid £219 to EWT for them to service and ‘fix’ the softener. It’s still leaking resin and EWT are trying to blame chlorine in the water supply. Even the EWT engineer said this was a nonsense excuse EWT have made up so they don’t have to pay the plumbing bills. Not fit for purpose. He said he routinely goes to softeners after 4/5/6 years that crack and leak resin into plumbing systems!

Terrible customer service, unreliable product.

Terrible customer service, the product is completely unreliable, out of a year the filter worked maybe a couple of months, on and off. Service calls took weeks to get someone to reply or come out, and each time we were told there's nothing they can do. Now we are asking for a refund there is again no response. Very shady, as if they are waiting out the warranty. Overall very expensive for a product that hardly worked at all and zero support.

If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would. Customer service is terrible, ongoing issue with a service and no shows. Asked for a manger to contact or supervisor and told that's not how we work here. Email us maybe. Still looking for refund, 8 weeks they have my money now.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service, very rude and unprofessional. I have had EWT water system as it offers a compact solution to the water softener, and it's been a year since it has been installed, since day1 I have had very poor communication and service. I have booked a service engineer to come and do an annual maintenance check and they have sent an email and message saying "engineer hasn't got the right tools and we will reschedule" This has been booked a couple of weeks in advance and I get this message at the last minute. I didn't receive any follow-up calls or new bookings since then, and it's been 1.5 months. I have called 2 times rather a lengthy wait, and the agents told me that they would get back to me after speaking with the admin team who organizes these services/bookings none of them had called. I would have given a minus rating if possible and I strongly advised a lot of my friends to go for alternative solutions such as Harvey or Kube instead of this irresponsible and unprofessional company that claims to be a 5-star customer service company. The installation was terrible as the engineer left the place without cleaning anything, all the wood/metal bits were everywhere.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service, EWT have gone down hill. Had a system for 5+ years, booked and paid in advance for a service, no one showed up at the alloted time. Called up, turns out engineer had cancelled 5 hours prior on the day, with no explanation and no notification at all by email or phone. Awaiting rescheduled date.

EWT Customer Service losing them customers.

We booked for a softener and filter to be fitted. Close to the time of the appointment we rang to confirm they'd be there at the allotted time. They said they had changed the time and contacted us by e-mail. They didn't e-mail us and a call or text would have been a more suitable way of doing that. So we rescheduled as the new time did not suit. Again we rang close to the time to confirm they'd be there on time. This time we were rudely informed that the time was moved back again, without notification. Difficult to know how good EWT products and service is with such bad scheduling and customer care. We'll look elsewhere.

Untrustworthy and unreasonable hike in prices

We’ve had the EWT system for 2 years and generally have been happy with it. However, now they’ve increased the annual service costs by 40% (YoY) which is shocking. When I mentioned this on the call I was immediately disconnected. They wouldn’t pick up any calls from me after that and I was being redirected to the automated feedback line. HOWEVER, after hiding my number they answered at the first attempt! They’ve completely lost my trust.
